Challenge 22 : The Florida Panthers

by bruins72 @ Tue Jan 03, 2012 7:31 pm
Image

I'm pleased to announce the start of Challenge 22! This time around we're using the Florida Panthers. They should be a decent challenge for us this time around.

Users can play the Challenge in one of two ways:

1) Use the CSD Patch with a start date of 2011.
2) Without the CSD Patch using the non-patched rosters which were uploaded on 30 December 2011. The non-patched rosters uploaded prior to 30 December should not be used.

Please check the links in the Challenge Center for our challenge rules. Even if you've participated in a challenge before, it's always good to give the rules another read through.

All Challenge 22 discussion goes HERE.

Any questions regarding challenge rules go HERE.

Challenge 21 news...

by bruins72 @ Mon Aug 15, 2011 6:32 pm
Image

We had originally planned to use a WHL team for challenge 21 but the roster changes for the WHL aren't complete yet. So we're going to do something a little different. Some of you were probably around for our Winnipeg Jets challenge way back before the Jets came back in real life. At the time, we thought that the Coyotes would move up there but it ended up being the Thrashers. In that challenge we let you choose the starting roster for the team. We're going to do that again.

We're going to move the New York Islanders to Quebec and bring back the Nordiques! The Islanders have been having troubles so they seemed like a good choice. Manimal is going to take version 3.1 of the Lidas DB and make a modified version for this challenge. What we'll do is have several polls, one for each player under contract with the Islanders, and give you 4 comparable players to choose between to find a replacement for the Islander. For example, Rick DiPietro. You get to vote for either Bryzgalov, Huet, Theodore, or Niemi to replace him on the new team. You get one pick in each poll. Feel free to post in that thread to try to encourage others to vote you way. One player that isn't getting a poll is Dought Weight. We are replacing him with Owen Nolan, a former Nordique. We're also giving you a free player, Adam Foote. And just for fun, Manimal has made a team staff comprised of former Nordiques!

Start voting here... viewforum.php?f=44

The polls close early on Saturday (Eastern US timezone) and then Manimal will take the winners of the polls and start getting the DB together. Once the DB is ready, we'll kick off the new challenge!

Announcing Lidas Rosters 3.1 and Challenge 20!

by archibalduk @ Thu May 12, 2011 7:22 pm

We are delighted to announce the release of the 2010/11 Lidas/Manimal Roster Update version 3.1 for EHM 2007! This is the second roster update for 2011/12. You can grab your copy of the rosters here: viewtopic.php?f=77&t=7508

I encourage everybody to say "thank you" to Manimal in this thread.

Work will shortly be starting for the first 2011/12 roster update; aka version 4.0. We really need more researchers to help research the rosters. Manimal clearly can't do this all on his own! We'll be posting more details about the help we need at a later date.

In conjunction with the release of the v3.1 rosters, we are also pleased to announce our 20th Challenge: The Dallas Stars. The Challenge has now started and you can start posting your stats right now. For users new to the Challenges, you'll find more information here: challenge.php

Announcing Lidas Rosters 3.0 and Challenge 19!

by bruins72 @ Thu Dec 30, 2010 6:24 pm

Lidas Rosters 3.0

As I'm sure many of you are aware, Manimal released Lidas Rosters 3.0 right before Christmas (a rather nice present to us all!). He provided a link in a thread where we could all download the file. We're been trying to get the file uploaded to our TBL Skydrive and have the file added to TBL's Download Database but we've been having difficulties. So for now, I'd like to share this link with everyone so you can get the database and play it. Plus, this database deserves a proper announcement!

Thanks to Manimal for picking up the torch and carrying on the work that Lidas had been doing. Thanks to Lidas for the previous versions of the database that this version is based on! I think the fact Manimal kept Lidas' name on the rosters after taking over speaks to the amount of work that goes into these. So I'd like to give a big round of applause to those guys, Lidas and Manimal. Also, thanks to the members of this community who have contributed research to these guys.

Challenge 19 - The Atlanta Thrashers!

To go along with the new roster update, we're also launching a new challenge! Now that Kovalchuk is no longer a Thrasher, this team seems like a good one to use. Of course the new challenge will use Lidas Rosters 3.0. We'll also use our existing challenge rules (read this, read this, and read this). There has been one minor change to the rules now though. It pertains to trading. We've tightened up the trade restrictions once again. Now you are only allowed one trade per season and that trade must be a straight up 1-for-1 deal. One player in and one player out. No draft picks and no unsigned prospects. Read the rules again to refresh your memory.

Remember, questions involving challenge rules go HERE. Discussion of your challenge game goes HERE.

We are no longer using the stats recording spreadsheet and posting our stats in a thread. Now we have the Challenge Stats Upload Tool. The Upload Tool is going to make posting your Challenge Stats much quicker and much easier! No longer do you need to use the Challenge Stats Spreadsheet or post your stats in a thread in the Challenge Centre. Instead, just click on the "Upload Your Challenge Stats" link located under the EHM Challenges and User Control menus from the nav bar. This will bring you to the Upload Tool where you can enter your stats directly into the site. Just enter your team totals stats as of each quarter into the Upload Tool (you don't need to calculate the stats you have accrued for each quarter) and it will calculate and check your quarterly stats for you!

Challenges 16 & 17 Winners

by archibalduk @ Tue Nov 09, 2010 8:58 pm
I am pleased to announce that the winners for Challenges 16 (Edmonton Oilers) and 17 (Sarnia Sting) have been determined! Rather than list all of the users here, you can view the leader boards here and you can view the list of first placed winners for each season here.

Congratulations to everybody that placed in the top three in each season. It's nice to see a wide spread of users finishing in these places. Trophies and TBL Points have been awarded to you all. If your trophy isn't appearing in your User Profile then let me know and I'll check it out for you.

By the way, you can compare your season by season performances by clicking on the "Improvement" button when viewing the leader table for a Challenge season. It will show you a table a bit like this: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/ch ... p?c=16&s=1
