Sun, June 23rd - Past TDD (at 4 pm est to coincide with live sim, no sim in morning) to 26th eve, back to regular simming

There appears to be an age old practice that a few teams offer pending UFAs on their respective clubs contract after contract throughout a season that in the end results in a favourable contract re-signing. Such contract restructuring does not occur in the NHL, is unrealistic, and does not seem to be in the best interests of league play and competition.

Thus, the following rule is being considered:

A team can only sign a pending UFA player to ONE contract throughout a season, starting from July 1st each season.

For example: If the Dallas Stars had Jake Pappa as a pending UFA currently making 3 Million, he could re-sign to effectively lower his cap hit say at 2.7 M for one year. However, one could not offer another contract to Pappa in that same season (hence he would be lost to free agency). Thus, this ensures that when a GM does re-sign a player it is for multiple years (i.e. at least into the next season) as should be intended.

A 2/3's majority is needed for implementation. Thanks

This is the 2nd stage for the 1st Round Voting Rule. The new rule will change the following:

9. After the 41 game mark, if at anytime a team in DMA is in the bottom 5 of the overall league standings they cannot trade any of their 1st round picks until the end of the season.

Unfortunately the above rule has largely been ineffective and nonsensical (see post 30-analysis). Between the 41 game mark and the trade deadline, there are only a handful of games where this rule applies. Teams have simply dealt such 1sts after the playoffs before the draft.

Thus, it is time to find a rule, if needed, that actually works.

Once again this is a big poll and vote that encompasses I hope as many opinions and insights to vote on. Another round of voting may be needed as there are still many options to choose from. Therefore, please select wisely and state your thoughts if you like. Every vote counts. Thanks

I want to shoot for a draft Sat. 5/11 most likely will be Sat. 5/18

GMS with VNC I will be asking you to help with the sim's. Also if you can periodically save and check to see if the game is up and running so that all gms have a fair chance to get in and adjust tactics, and line ups.

Remember to dress 18 players and 2 goalies every game. Also we are going to be moving quite fast here, and changes are bound to be made, and its also possible that the game will be down for periods of time. Any Issues let us know in the chat or contact a VP or director or simmer for that matter.
