Played through my first 20 games and my record is 11-8-1 doing better than i expected really I should have tried to tank in my first season to get a good pick in the next draft.

Is there a bug or something with retiring jersey numbers? Kings are retiring no 20, "worn" by Xavier Suray. Problem is Suray is a 15 year old playing in the QMHL. Doesn't really affect my game, so I don't really care too much but thought it was funny.

Season 4 is going pretty well but I'm again having some major problems with my PK, as is more or less the entire league it seems though. We are at least again one of the best defensive teams, just like last season. I couldn't find a trade partner for Påhlsson, so he was sent to AHL and did clear waivers. That contract is brutal for what he brings my team, glad it's up soon! Staal is having a big year, tops the NHL with 67p in 51GP. Also selected for the All-Star game, my team's first All-Star. :-) Goligoski has made his way in the the top 4 and is having a good year playing there. Currently we are 2nd with a record of 30-14-7.

Known issue/will be fixed in the next update http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showp ... tcount=377

The "future jersey retirements" should probably be deleted from the 1998 database

Nope. No trading of any first round picks, yours or someone else's.

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you on this. I wasn't on TBL for the weekend.

Thanks for the reply

I was getting a bit of interest in Hartnell and thought I would try and get a first for him thought I would get clarification before I tried

S1 Q1 Update
Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup.
Re-signed all my free agents and RFA's

Draft Results:

Would have liked to build my team around Staal but hard to pass up a Franchise RD in Shea Weber. Probably would have done things different had I known Byfuglien would be available at #19 and that Chara was available via trade.

Trades:
Image
Surprised to see the Islanders including Chara in a trade offer - locked him up with Cleary and Plotnikov.
All my other deals have been pretty minor.
Singed Lyle Odelein as a Free Agent for 975K for 3 seasons

Standings after 20:
Image
Started off well but quickly stumbled by around our tenth game. Giving up too many shots and generated very little offense.

Stats after 20:
Image
Kept most of my young guys on the farm or in Junior to help their development (Ott, Pominville, Koivu, Rachunek, Moulson, Weber, Emery, Bouwmeester, Byfuglien, Enstrom, MacArthur)
Going with mediocre Vets to get me through the season and hopefully a solid draft pick to continue our rebuild

Hehe, Canes had to forfeit a game against Florida, after a line brawl that saw their starter tossed after which their backup got injured. Seen this in the WHL, but not in the NHL before.

First this happens...

Well, I'm out. I didn't listen to b72 and as it turns out I didn't have any backup saves. I had an episode of digital rage after a particularly bad loss and decided to have some fun getting rid of some players, planning to just load a backup save afterwards. Turns out I didn't have any backups and I did so much damage to the team that I'm not even going to keep on with it.

I'm glad I played though, I learned more about how this game works during the challenge than I have in all of my previous games combined and I'll definitely play in future challenges.

Sorry to hear that you ruined your team but I'm glad you enjoyed the challenge. I find them interesting because they make you learn to play different styles than you might normally play. It's also a nice way to try out other teams besides your normal favorites.
