Did sign one in season 4, but haven't upped those screens yet. A goalie, but that was really for my AHL squad. Though he has played 4 games in NHL in my 5th season so far. Also signed one in season 5 for my 4th line/extra...took a LONG time to get him to accept low enough contract though. I learned my lesson at least. Never sign a player to a try-out contract if he is in FA and no one wants him. He started off at about 1.7M/y, his final demand just before camp was 1.3M/y...so I decided to give him a try-out...that propelled it back up to his original demand. Takes as long again to get him as far down! :bs: Finally signed for 1M for 1 year.

Tbh, there are hardly any UFA you can sign to less then a million that can actually play in the NHL, at least I find this to be the case.

I signed a guy to be my 3rd RD in season 2 and he did a pretty decent job. You have to look at the good AHLers who can play in the NHL without hurting you really. They're not going to be great depth but they can fill holes when needed

Signed Alex Burrows before Season 2, forgot to screenshot though. Played in the minors all year except for about 8 games, retired after the season.

Signed Patrick Maroon before Season 3, he's been ok as depth for injury insurance so far.

Because IRL they don't have an agreement with the NHL that allows for an NHL Release Clause, the KHL is different than all other Leagues...a KHL player's contract has to actually be expired (so they're a free agent) for an NHL team to even be able to attempt to sign them

He did not play at all for a year. He was a RFA for a whole season and after that signed with a KHL team. In my game Martin Jones signed for 9,5m a year with for Toronto for seven years so maybe he Murray was just one those greedy goalies..

First time doing a challenge and I have started the second season with a bang! Tampa needed to offload some salary so I stole Hedman away for Duclair and then some AHlers for JT Brown Image

*edit* just checked the rules and 3 for 2 trades arent allowed, so I went back to the previous save and just traded Duclair and Gaudet for Hedman

5th season and a 3rd straight Stanley Cup/President's Trophy. First time I've had a rookie dominate in his first playoffs, Abrahamsson put up 25p (14+11) in 24GP. Despite some injuries and tough rounds this year we got the job done in the end. When we lost a 3-0 lead in the 2nd round to Canucks (won 4-3 in the end) I thought this team was done. I feel we are lacking a proper 4th line center that can kill penalties as we lost a few guys over the off-season. Our PK was way off last years stellar play, did get a bit better in the 2nd half though.

Domi - Strome - Rieder/Abrahamsson (104th in '17)
Crouse - Merkley- Brushett (194th in '17)/Rieder
Connolly/Dvorak - DeWit (134th in '17)/Dvorak - Sceviour
Salomaki (FA)/Connolly - DeWit/Stransky (82nd in '18) - Samuelsson
+Duclair and Keller

OEL-Murphy
Chychrun/Farrance (66th in '17)-Stone
Dahlbeck-DeAngelo/Petrovic

Varlamov/Hutchinson + Eriksson Ek/O'Connor got a few games due to injuries

Strome 2nd in league for points as well as 3rd for assists, behind 2nd OEL. Abrahamsson could have won the Calder, I think. But he only played 36 games and put up 33 points. Unfortunatly Tucson lost in the final to Milwaukee in 6 games.

Hey guys, im playing my first challenge and I'd like to ask two questions. In the update page, there is a Payroll, what does it mean? Pro-rated Club Payroll Room? I dont need to make any pictures during the season, just after the season with standings, transfers and such, right? Thanks!

Anyways, in first 20 games (I need to wait now to send update), I have 13-5-2 and I'm 2nd in West. I decided to keep Strome and call back Chychrun. Strome is even first in points for my team with 18 points. It looked like Ill be starting with Smith but after 3 games (3-0-0) he just couldnt win another game but over all goalies are the biggest struggle because otherwise team is pretty good. Can't wait to make some trades hehe! I love trading so it's bit painful to me not to make any trades whole season since there already have been some good players on block.

For payroll you enter the "Averaged Club Salaries". Take a look at the screenshots thread and you'll see the screens that you need to take at the end of the season. Just be sure to upload your stats every quarter.

Hello everyone :-)

Just wondering if anyone has noticed NHL draftees/Major Junior players not playing games after being drafted. as reported here viewtopic.php?f=139&t=15034&start=175

A couple players that have been used to check are Mathew Barzal and Ivan Provorov...if you can, please take a look and post if they showed as playing games in 2016-17, 2017-18, etc

Thanks!

I finished my first season with a record of 34-35-13, which was only good enough for 9th.
Tampa Bay ended up winning the cup and Dylan Strome won the Calder with 84 points in 82 games.

Draft
#1. Nick Suzuki C (13)
#2. Zdeno Dornic LW (43)
#3. Travis O'Reilly RW (61)
#4. Samuel Harvey G (103)
#5. Hugh McGing C (133)
#7. Ilya Karpukhin LD/RD (193)

Made two trades in the offseason:
#1. Jordan Martinook + 2018 4th to BUF for Vaclav Karabacek + 2018 4th
#2. Jarred Tinordi to MIN for Jonas Brodin

I also signed a Pheonix Copley to be my 3rd goalie.

Currently halfway through the second season and sit at 13th with a record of 14-21-6. Still trying to find a trade for a starting goalie.

Hot darn - challenges eh? Sounds like I'm a little late to the party on this one - is it too late to plough through 4 seasons over the weekend? haha

While I'm not looking to "join" this challenge, I am curious about giving it a try on my own just for fun and to see how it all works (maybe I'll join one in the future). That said, I do have a quick question.

In the rules it states:
"You must coach your NHL games and you may NOT go on vacation with your NHL GM. "

Does this mean we just set up tactics (team/individual)? Do we need to "watch" every game and adjust tactics accordingly? I ask because I've always just served as a GM and took control of practice, let my coaches handle the games...so there would be a lot of learning on my part before I could ever do a challenge. Just curious

You've actually got to "watch" the games because testing has shown the results can differ that way. I've always just tweaked those in-game settings so that the game plays fast. If you look in a game, you'll see a little gear type thing by the score near the top. Click that and it's got several settings you can adjust to make the game go by faster.

We'll probably be kicking off a new challenge in a couple weeks.

So is setting highlights to "none" allowed then?

Excellent, just got Steam up and running on my Mac (instead of frankenstein, my old desktop PC) so I shall be partaking. If you guys take suggestions for future challenges, I'd love to see how people handle the Jets on the retro roster - a nightmare to manage, but tonnes of fun too!
