LA Kings Rebuild

Postby Cap'n » Tue Apr 17, 2012 2:36 am

The Kings will be commencing a rebuild this offseason, I have a wealth of talent that will be available and is sure to help both contenders and those wishing to be instant contenders. I'm not going to list prices but picks and young prospects (C, RW, and D) will be the best bet as I'm looking to retool almost entirely!

Goalies -

GK Heiki Kurki - 2.7 mil - Kurki just turned 35 this spring and began the 2034-35 campaign rated as the #7 goaltender in the game. I acquired Vyborny to be that goalie of the future and the future is now! 4 time NHL All-Star also has won himself a Vezina and finished as the runner-up last year.
Defenders -

RD Diego MacPherson - 4.0 mil + TOPT - Not sure this guy needs any advertising. The game rates him as the #3 defender in the game and I don't believe many would argue with that. He turned 33 in December so has several more seasons of greatness in him. 4 time NHL All-Star (won the hardest shot competition 3x) has finished 2nd and 3rd in the Norris balloting.

LD Boyd Higgins - 2.8 mil til '37 + TOPT - 31 year old rock of a defender. When I acquired him 6 seasons ago I paid 2 1sts and a 2nd and he's been worth every penny of it! You want a shut down defender, he does it. You want a point producer? He can do that too. Higgins has also been one of the best plus/minus guys on my team playing exclusively on my 2nd pair his whole time in LA (wanted to split he and MacPherson for maximum effectiveness).

LD/RD Dmitry Fedorov - 2.8 mil + TOPT - This 34 year old former NHL All-Star was a HUGE piece of the old Blackhawks dynasty. Extremely tough and defensively solid he has also managed to be a scorer in the past notching 70 pts one season for the Hawks and generally scoring 40 pts a season.

LD Michal Cerny - 725k - 32 year old captain. Has been a fixture on my 3rd pair for over a decade. He contributes 15-20 pts a season, is always a positive player, and some of the best leadership skills of any player in DMA currently. All that and on a miniscule contract!

Forwards -

RW/LW Marc-Andre Roy - 4.2 mil until '38 + TOPT - 31 years old and rated the #8 RW in the game. I just acquired the hulking winger this past offseason and he may stick around for another year so I can see what he can produce point wise getting 1st line minutes all season long. He has 27 pts in the past 14 gp since moving to the top spot. 4 time all-star who's engraved his name multiple times on Lord Stanley's Cup.

C Jake Lawson - 3.6 mil - 2 time NHL All-star and 3 time Stanley Cup winner. 29 year old may be destined for another year in LA as he has been at or near the top 10 in AVR all season long and is the heart and soul of my team. But... it is a rebuild and sometimes great players can move as well.

LW/RW Roman Silin - 1.6 mil - 28 year old has shown the ability to put up 60 pts from the 2nd line and already has etched his name on the cup once.

C J-B Lepage - 1.8 mil + TOPT - 29 year old cup winner is an excellent defensive C. His 20 faceoffs is a huge asset to the PK and he has the offensive ability to play on the 2nd line (career high 77 pts with BOS).

RW/C Lucas Ruff - 700k - The quintessential penalty killer! 29 year old has been a fixture on my fourth line and top PK unit. Consistently effective, rarely a negative player, Ruff generates 15-20 points a season from the 4th line. 5 Shorthanded goals to his credit.

Of course other players could be available but I will very likely be hanging onto:

Danil Isakov
Bryn MacIntyre
Bob Pszenyczny
Matthew Hill
Miroslav Vyborny
Judd Derksen
Gordon Scott
Erik Barron

Very happy with the season just concluded but still gonna rebuild.

Fedorov has packed his bags for Nashville. Everyone else above is still on the block.
