Official NHL Season 2018-2019 Thread

And with Carter Hart, possible the best Goalie prospect in the world right now. I maybe wouldn't call him the best goalie prospect in the world but he definitely has the potential to become one of the best goalies in the league. I hope we can rely on Elliott a bit more this season so as to not rush...

Ovi deserved a Cup, his emotions after winning it were so pure and touching. Well played to the Caps and fair play to Tasku for never losing belief in his team! :-D

Re: The IIHF World Championships 2018

Two incredible upsets against Finland and Canada put Switzerland in the final. I don't think they have what it takes to beat this Sweden team but they've proven me wrong twice already so who says they won't do it again tonight :-D

I absolutely loved the performance they showed last night, it was crucial to not let Game 1 kill the series and they came out strong in Game 2. Hopefully they can take this good energy into the home games and get a lead in the series!

You didn't see that I wrote that?! :-D I just saw that you had posted the trade, I didn't read through all the details you mentioned, my bad  Ouch, I hadn't seen that the second pick could also become a 1st. That's a steeeeeep price Yzerman paid after saying he wouldn't. I think that because ...

Re: Official NHL Season 2017-2018 Thread

Yep, I agree, I feel like that's a very nice trade for the Tampa Bay Lightning, however I'm hearing that the conditional second round pick turns into a first rounder if TBL win the Stanley Cup in the next two years which would make this deal much better for the Rangers. Overall, at this moment, Tamp...

Congratulations to the USA Women's team on beating Canada and winning the gold medal in the shootout! Had the chance to catch the match and it was a thriller, shame that the winner had to be determined by a shootout.

Latvia unfortunately didn't qualify for these Olympic Games in hockey but I'll still watch the games when I can. Caught the second half of the OAR-SVK game, pretty happy with how the game ended :-D

The Flyers also received the 1st round pick(27th overall) from the Blues in that trade which is worth mentioning, I think.

Re: Official NHL Season 2016-2017 Thread

Just woke up and saw the contract Marleau signed with the Leafs.. Wow. I'm not sure how you can justify paying a 37 year-old player $6 million for the next 3 years. Surely he'll have to be traded/put on LTIR on the third year of this contract?

That's a very high price and long term for a goalie but if there's a goalie out there who even remotely deserves that, it's him. I suppose that's the price the Canadiens had to pay to keep him in Montreal.

But he's a defenseman so his points totals shouldn't be an indicator to how good a player he is. I believe he's one of the best defensive D-men in the league at the moment and while that is a lot of money for him, I get why they offered him that.

Re: Official NHL Season 2016-2017 Thread

I would definitely pay 9 million to Karlsson if I had the cap space. The fact that he makes 6.5 million right now is crazy to me, seeing the other contracts in the league.
