Re: Next Challenge?

That would be quite a challenge. I think it might be a little tricky to enforce though. :-k

Re: Next Challenge?

I just wanted to toss some ideas out to you guys on what I'm thinking about for rules on the next challenge. I'm thinking we use the 98DB again but I'll sim forward about 5 years. I'll have it so we take over in April or May so we have enough time to scout the draft and scout the leagues. You can on...

Re: Official 15-16 NHL Off-Season Thread

I'd never heard of him until the last week.....is the quality of hockey at Harvard University really any good? Seems like a huge jump to the NHL The two Hobey Baker Award winners before him were Jack Eichel and Johnny Gaudreau. He didn't put up as wicked numbers as those two, but on the other hand ...

Re: Official 15-16 NHL Off-Season Thread

He's 23 years old and was one of the best in the NCAA. The Predators drafted him but he didn't want to sign there. Most reports I've read project him to be a top 6 forward. Most of them think he'll be able to jump directly into the NHL. He's supposed to be very mature and smart. For a free signing (...

I'm pretty bummed that Vesey decided to sign with the Rangers.

Re: Challenge 42 - 98 TB Lightning - Discussion Thread

That explains it. Thanks! I'm playing around with a 98DB game that I started at some point that I simmed forward to 2004 that has no salary cap. I'm going to do some testing on rule ideas for the next challenge. I'll see if I spot any of the behavior that you mentioned above. Also, if anyone wants t...

Re: Challenge 42 - 98 TB Lightning - Discussion Thread

Hmmm... so I've started a new game and now there's no salary cap. My guess is that the original challenge saved was created from the DB you guys gave me right at release. The new game I started was created from the version of the DB that I've subscribed to via the Steam Workshop.

Re: Challenge 42 - 98 TB Lightning - Discussion Thread

I wonder if I did something wrong in setting up the challenge game because I definitely have a salary cap. It shows a salary cap of $44M and a salary floor of $28M. In the first several seasons of the challenge I was getting fined for not reaching the salary floor. I wonder what I did wrong? Finance...

Re: Challenge 42 - 98 TB Lightning - Discussion Thread

So I've wrapped up season 6 (I think the furthest I've done in a challenge) and my team finally got it together. We won the President's Trophy and the Stanley Cup! :joy: I'd say that the biggest factor in our success was acquiring Roberto Luongo. While Bryzgalv was really good for us in the previous...

That end date is tentative. If it looks like we're not quite ready to kick off the next one, it might be extended.

Re: Old Challenges

You can look through the old announcements and each one should have a link for a save, up to a certain point at least. http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=74 Some challenges might not have a save file. Also, the further you go back the less likely they are to work with the current v...

Re: Challenge 42 - 98 TB Lightning - Discussion Thread

Nice work! Looks like this are coming together for you. You've made a couple interesting/good trades there. I think trading Lecavalier while his value is high is a good move. He doesn't really become a superstar in this save. He's really a 2nd liner but can play 1st a little too. I've actually had h...

Re: Challenge 42 - 98 TB Lightning - Discussion Thread

Timing is everything in EHM! In June of 2003 Roberto Luongo signed a 4 year $8.2M contract with the Islanders. I had tried to pry him for them since the start of the challenge. Something must have happened there because they decided to make him available. They gave CuJo (who was signed in 2002) the ...

Re: Challenge 42 - 98 TB Lightning - Discussion Thread

So it took me until my 5th season but we finally made it to the playoffs! We were able to beat the Senators in the first round but went 7 games with the Devils in the next round and came up short. The Stanley Cup Finals was between the Florida Panthers (who have been really good since signing UFA Pe...

Re: Challenge 42 - 98 TB Lightning - Discussion Thread

So I'm in season 5. I can't remember the last time I played a challenge this many seasons. The sad thing is, I still haven't made the playoffs. I've logged my first 20 games of this season and we're sitting in 10th place. A couple things became evident right away this season. While Kovalchuk is insa...

I'll have to wait for the issue to present itself again and keep a save for him. In my saves that I have, either it hasn't happened yet or happened a long time ago. I'll want to get one of exactly when it happens.
