Habs Insideout News

Welcome to the Habs insideout news, where you can find out all the latest development of this dynasty in the making. According the their newly appointed GM!!!

Season Expectation:
The current roster is very competitive with the some big names like Price, Subban, Pacioretty and upcoming young guns Gallagher and Galchenyuk to form a solid foundation for our team. Even though we are expected to be a contender for the Cup this year, the road to the Finals won't be an easy one. Hopefully there won't be too many injuries to contend with while management do expect to try out some kids from the AHL Icecaps at some point during the season. Projects such as Semin, Kassian and Fleischmann will be given a chance to keep their roster spot, otherwise it will be a short stay for them in Montreal.

Staffing:
GM Vic has purged the coaching staff and scouting department. Expect better results in the development area in the near future, while the new scouting personnel have been given the task to find gems in the later rounds or they will be on the unemployment line.

Overall Performance:
The team is performing quite well under the new management. The coaching staff implemented new tactics brought over by their GM from his base in Australia. Our whole team was producing offensively and the defensive core was doing well to keep the opposition from scoring. At the 11th game mark, Pacioretty suffered a fractured ribs injury that will last for 1month and soon after Carey Price went down with a wrist injury. Our team had to dig deep to keep pace with the Panthers. Tomas Fleichmann and Alex Semin were very consistent in the 1st quarter of the season. The dynamic duo powered the team to stay within striking distance of the top of the East.

During this time we were also able to shed some extra players like Tinordi, Kassian and Tokarski from our roster, this will allow some of our youngster to get a few games in during the season.

Grade: A-

-------------
Featured Performer: Tomas Fleischmann - 19gp 12G 9A 21pts 7.84AvR

The offseason acquisition of this veteran was a blessing for the team. We had no idea that he would be able to step in from day one and rejuvenated his career. The playmaking forward has solidify his spot on the team, dazzling fans with his high end speed and creative fine plays with fellow project Semin. At 750K, he is probably the best value performer in the league and we are lucky he plays for us. Hopefully we can get him to sign a new contract soon.

-------------
Down in the Farm:

Prospect Highlight: Sven Andrighetto 16GP 9G 8A 17P 7.38AvR

This 21 years old creative playmaking Swiss is eager to crack the Habs lineup. Blessed with deceptive speed and a strong will to compete, he continues to elevate his game in his 2nd year as a pro. Andrighetto is a bit on the small size but that has not stopped him from playing a gritty 2way game. Management is expecting good things from him and future projection will be a 2nd line winger in the next few seasons.

-------------
GM's Corner: I must commend my team on their strong showing so far in our inaugural season. I think we have the core management and coaching staff that will ensure the competitiveness of this great organization for years to come. Our PK will need to be looked at, the recent addition of Steve Bernier will hopefully shore up our PK performance. His grit and great 2way play will be a asset to our team.

We still have a lot of work to do in terms of player development. There are some good prospects in our organization but it's not guaranteed that they will be able to excel at the next level. Most likely we will see someone like Charles Hudon soon for a look see. :-D

Mid-Season 2016 Report

Overview: Team is still performing quite consistently even with injuries to Price, Beaulieu and Paccioretty for a short period of time. We've added veteran Marty Havlat to shore up our depth in case of future injuries. On the defensive end, the addition of Bernier and Campbell will give us a good physical presence on the 4th line. Alexei Emelin was traded to the Flames for veteran puck moving Dman Matt Carle. The team looks pretty solid but we will see if further tweaking will be needed.

The 2nd half of the season will see us having more home games so hopefully we can keep up with our current pace. Our goal is to reach 120 pts at at the end of the season.

Solid performers in the last 15 games:

Martin Havlat: 19gp 5g 6a 11pts +0 7.21avR
Devante Smith Pelly: 42gp 4g 7a 11pts +0 7.02avR (on pace to break his career best)

Habs 2016 Post-draft analysis.

Post by aussiehabit » Mon Jun 06, 2016 9:15 am

The Habs' drafting was focused on addressing a few holes in the current system. Team MVP Price solidly locked up the starting G position but you can never have enough goalies in the system. On D with the pending retirement Markov and an aging corp made of Carle and Petry. Down the middle is their biggest concern for the next few seasons.

Here’s a look at the new Habs prospects.

18. Montreal Canadiens: 11. Brannstrom, Erik – RD ****
Analysis- A smallish defender but plays with an edge, he is well rounded in all defensive aspects. A tough competitor and should be able to represent Sweden’s Junior team. We expect him to be a solid 3-4 and possible 1-2 if his development goes well.
Projection- Very happy he dropped down to the 18th position. 2 seasons away from a pro contract

48. Montreal Canadiens: 78. Eriksson Ek, Olle – G ****
Analysis- An athletic goalie with strong determination. Very skilled for his age and should be able to compete for the starting job for the Swedish Junior team.
Projection- Starting goalie (a gem)

60. Montreal Canadiens from Washington: 69. Bjorkman, Anton – RD/LD ****
Analysis- Another strong Swedish D prospect. His leadership and determination will definitely make him a prospect to watch.
Projection- 2 seasons away from a pro contract. 1-2 Dman

67. Montreal Canadiens from Dallas: UNR Joni Ikonen C Frolunda J18
Analysis- Ikonen could eventually turn out to be a decent C, his strong determination will allow him to develop into a great 2 way specialist.
Projection- 2-3 seasons from a pro contract. 3rd line C

98. Montreal Canadiens from Los Angeles: UNR Jeremy McKenna RW Moncton QMJHL
Analysis- This speedy winger has a longway to go but our scouts like his workrate.
Projection- unknown. Could be boom or bust with this prospect.

113. Montreal Canadiens from Colorado Avalanche: 140. Harvey, Emile – LD
Analysis- Due to his height, this skilled prospect was overlooked my many scouts. We like his hockey sense and physicality.
Projection- 2 seasons away from a pro contract. 3-4 dman

117. Montreal Canadiens from Minnesota: 164. Johnson, Esbjorn – C
Analysis- A Swedish heavy draft but it was not by design. The young centerman has shown a lot of poise at 17. Adept at both ends of the ice, need to work on his offensive skills but has shown that he can elevate his game. This will need to be seen.
Projection- 3 seasons from a pro contract. Checking C 3rd liner

138. Montreal Canadiens: UNR Joey Anderson LW Dartmouth
Analysis- A hardworking winger with decent hands, will need to work on both defensive and offensive skills. Outside chance of developing into a bottom 6 forward.
Projection- 3-4 seasons away from turning pro, depth winger

168. Montreal Canadiens: UNR Eemeli Rasanen LD Assat A-Jrs
Analysis- A determined prospect with exceptional work habits and determination. He will still grow a bit more into his 6’6” frame. Though at 200lbs, he will be a force on the blue line if he can continue to improve his defensive skills.
Projection- 5-6 defensive Dman

Habs 2017 Season Review

Record: 9th in Eastern Conference
41W – 30L – 11 O/SL - 93pts

Team MVP: Max Paccioretty
Best Dman: PK Subban 38pts +28
Best Forward: Max Paccioretty 84pts +25
Best Rookie: Arturri Lehkonen 46pts +13
Most Improved: Lars Eller 62pts +5

Players looking to make the big club:
1. Damir Zhafyarov ***
2. Martin Renway ***
3. Bryan Mantha ****

Season Review:
While it was a disappointing end to our season with a losing streak. Being competitive for our team with so many kids in the lineup can only mean a bright future. Down the middle will be a challenge for us in the next few seasons but we will fix this issue with the coming draft. Every other positions we are pretty deep.

Outlook for next season:
The coaching staff will be implementing a new workout schedule for the team so hopefully we will see our players develop to the next level. Will Bryan Mantha earn a full-time gig with the big club? We will have to see what the Free Agency will bring us first.

Projection: Another year competing in the best division in the league. 7th or 8th once again.
