He we are getting close to the half way mark of the season and we are looking forward to seeing who will be all in for the playoff run. So starting off with the power rankings we have your one and only....
1. Anaheim Ducks 28-5-1
The Ducks are doing great for themselves keeping consistent in the win column and only losing 2 games a month. They have a record of 28-5-1 right now which right now is only one point in front of the maple leafs they are also 2 games behind. Most of the success comes from their top line Hoffman - Nugent-Hopkins - Puljujarvi running a total 75 goals and 162 points most of those points come from the league leader Puljujarvi. So far Ducks look very dominant and look to keep there momentum.
2. Toronto Maple Leafs 26-6-4
The Maple Leafs look to be doing the opposite of what the Ducks are doing with their lines. They have very consitant points thru all of their lines. There key players are the line mates of W. Nylander and Stamkos both putting up 47 points each. It seems like for the leafs you will have to injure more than one player to put them out of the race.
3. Colorado Avalanche 26-7-3
The Avs have been able to keep in the top 5 surprisingly even tho trading Seguin. Nathan MacKinnon has jumped into the top line Center and has produced 23 goals and 46 points in 30 games. Varlamov is also holding a hefty load on his shoulders by keeping his save % to .918. The Avs look to carry their win streak going with teams that are trying to hit the playoffs this year. We should see the Avs continue to win for a couple more weeks.
4. San Jose Sharks 26-7-3
The Sharks are making a name for themselves with leading the league in goals for with 174. With landing Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad in the offseason it really shows that the Sharks can be great again with the pair of players scoring 24 and 27 goals respectively. Sharks continue on putting up goals to make sure they win games. The only thing that can stand in their way is your goalie if we see the Sharks decline it will be in this month with facing off against the Avs and the Ducks but they should look at staying in the top 5 this month if they can keep the same pace.
5. Montreal Canadiens 26-7-1
The Canadiens are on a 4 game win steak with a win against the Avs. They play the Hurricanes and the Avs again the end of the month but seem to be ready to jump up higher in the standings. As Carry Price (see what i did there) is spotting a .928 Save %. Max Pacioretty leads in goals and points with 26 Goals and 46 Points. The Canadiens are a team to be watching as they jump ahead in the standings.
6. Calgary Flames 26-7-2
The Flames are showing that is pays to have a good back up they have run the pair of Sergei Bobrovsky (SV .920%) and Darcy Kuemper (SV .927%). Their production is held in there top 2 lines with all players above 30 points. Johnny Hockey is leading the team in points with 49. They are have a solid scheduale to play, playing the Hurricanes and the Ducks twice and lining up to play the sharks after. We might see the Flames drop but they shouldnt drop below 10th.
7. Carolina Hurricanes 24-7-3
The Hurricanes are staying in the top of the standings with a solid goalie and a solid defense in front of him. Thatcher Demko is spotting a .920 Save Percentage and a League leading 2.27 GAA. Their top Player Tyler Toffoli spots a 16/16/32 Stat line and shows you how dominant Carolina's Defense is.
8. New York Rangers 24-9-2
9. New Jersey Devils 24-10-0
10. Buffalo Sabres 23-10-1
11. Washington Capitals 24-11-1
12. Dallas Stars 22-12-3
13. Arizona Coyotes 20-12-3
14. Minnesota Wild 18-12-3
15. New York Islanders 17-11-7
16. St. Louis Blues 18-16-2
17. Boston Bruins 17-16-3
