EHM:EA "Regen" Discussion / Location Thread

A few questions (Yes, I did go through the first and last few pages)...
I'm using TBL 7.3 (for EHM:EA) , by the way.
1.First and foremost, there are still Regen in EHM: EA, correct? (just making sure...)
2. I saw a few times that depending on rosters, you could expect more regen, is that the case with TBL rosters?
Or I can only expect to find regen of current players retiring? Meaning No Fedorov, Sakic, etc...
3. How can I find who retires? (Other than receiving a because a big star retired..)
4. Is this still the consensus, regarding when regens appears?
-European appears 2 years after retirement (At age 16)
-North American appears 4 years after retirement (At age 14)
Essentially, to find the Jagr regen, I should wait after the 2016-2017 season and
search for a tall 16 years old kid from Kladno, Czech Republic that stands out from the rest..

My understanding is that EHM:EA is not the same as EHM07 in terms of regens.
It's apparently a combination of the old system and a true "newgen" system
So to answer your questions
1. No, not really
2. TBL Rosters haven't had such players in a few years now (immediate retirees to create immediate regens)
3. Not sure
4. Not sure (I think players come into the game at age 14)
My understanding is the days of "
regen hunting" are over

Players generated by the game as older players retire.

EHM uses the retired players and re-inserts them into the game, so to speak, as 15-17 year old kids(different names obviously) 2-4 years after they retire to keep the league well populated with stars instead of being completely random. The
regen would basically match the retired players height/weight, place of birth and a few key attributes.
Here's the EHM07 discussion on regens:

There are no regens anymore.
Whenever someone retires in the game, a newgen gets created. He is not like the retiring player. He can be better or worse and there is no way of knowing who retired when the newgen got created by looking at his attributes

I have made a case of this in my db in EHM2007. I have a league called NHL Retro with in that league are former and retro teams applied like Hartford Whalers, Quebec Nordiques, Vancouver Canucks Retro etc. In that league I have putted unemployed former players such as Cliff Ronning, Pavel Bure, Craig Janney etc. and then gave them CA/PA of
ex. Pavel Bure 120/190 to get the most out of his
regen when Pavel retires. I have also putted the rep for players in that league low so no other team would sign them. Simulated through 10 seasons many times just to see that no one should be signed and that worked.
But if they have changed the whole
regen system it would be cooler but I like my way to

This is such a big deal/improvement compared to EHM07

I suppose some characteristics are still hereditary as a 206 cm / 106 kg Slovak defenceman was in the nhl draft 2 years after Chara retired.

In my 2023-2024 season (TBL Rosters 7.3) and regenned players follow the same pattern of attributes too often imo. In drafts 2019-2023 where all players are regens, I'm seeing way too many stay-at-home D-man with high defensive technicals, low offensive skills and usually low anticipation. Other pattern I've noticed is the opposite: a forward with high offensive technicals and low defensive skills.
Also mental attributes like bravery, teamwork and work rate seem too low for everyone.
Good goalie prospects are nowhere to be seen yet, but that might be a part of the new player progression.

I'm pretty sure there are regens- i've found 'martin st louis' and 'jaromir jagr' in the drafts- both with same height, weight, nationality and most importantly the same pot ability.

Same player ID number?
I've been wondering lately if the player ID numbers are the same for "regens" (ID number is viewable via the EHM:EA Assistant)
If so it'd be possible with some testing to determine what changes (and how often)
Lawrence97 wrote:I'm pretty sure there are regens
But are they like EHM07? Can you find all the top players (like you apparently could before)?
If the EHM:EA regens have a chance of things changing or staying the same, maybe PA stayed the same for Jagr and St. Louis?
I wouldn't think Nationality would change frequently or at all, so it's not surprising to me that it stayed the same...
How do you know the height/weight is the same? the
regen as a teen is the same as the original as a teen? or are you comparing adult height/weight? I've never fully understood the references to regens and "
regen hunting" and height/weight...

different player id- just checked that- height and weight are the same just checked on pre game editor and the assistant- don't know if those details ever change???? if i'm honest, never checked. Finding all the top players isn't difficult if you use the assitant along with the pre game editor. I find it more fun going through the draft to see if i can work it out. Olaf kolzig was never a challenge in the olden days, just about the only german gk! Everyone has their way of regen hunting

I wonder what that actually means...do new player IDs get created, so that the highest player idea number increases by hundreds/thousands every year? Eventually a player ID numbers reaches 100,000 and higher!
Or maybe player ID numbers are scrambled each year from the available regens that need creating?
Or maybe what you found weren't actually the regens of Jagr/St. Louis?
P.S. Yeah, Height/Weight change. I noted awhile ago that the EHM:EA Assistant wasn't showing Height/Weight correctly (in-game values were different/lower than the Assistant was showing).....and then I noticed Height/Weight wasn't exportable anymore; I'm not sure if the Assistant is currently exporting Height/Weight correctly
Players gain height/weight from when they start....not sure if EHM:EA is exactly the same as EHM07, but I believe in EHM07 North American players "spawned" at age 14 and Europeans/Russians at age 16.....and IIRC, it was 4 years after retirement for NA players and 2 years after retirement for others - but I may be wrong, as I've never looked for a
regen before, just follow along with the related posts/threads from an editing perspective)
