hi guys what is the meaning of non playing attributes, specifically:

powerplay
penalty kill
coaching technique

Like what does different values in each do?

Coaching Technique
Whether or not the coach is a technical or a fitness coach.
A low number = his team practice will be predominantly conditioning/fitness practice.
A high number = his team practice will predominantly emphasise skills/technique.

Penalty Kill
How well teams coached by him tend to handle penalty-kill situations.

Powerplay
How well teams coached by him tend to handle power play situations.

What about of the rest of the attributes? I have been looking for a topic already started but maybe due to stupidity I can not find it. With the Eastside Pre-game Editor what does the non-player attributes mean? And whether higher or lower is better or what higher lower means.

I would like to know about free roles

Funny. I never got an answer on this. Anyone care to update? I just got the Early Access and was looking for a refresher in the attributes. Hard time finding the Non-Player staff attributes explained.

A lot of the list below is covered in the Manual that comes with the game (pages 38-39)
For the other Attributes I looked at the wall charts I've had up for years (from initial reading/notetaking when I discovered EHM years ago)

Tactical:
Attacking: higher = offensive, lower = defensive
Directness: higher = dump&chase, lower = passing style
Free Roles: higher = fewer defensive responsibilities
Line Matching: how well/how often

thx for the information its great to know . One thing im wondering is how the relativity of these attributes are used by scouts ? Or is it just a couple of the attributes that are applied to scouts like judging potiential and ability ? does anybody actually know ? or is this just myth .... i have read the manual btw!

There is much that is know by a few database editors and a few who've done significant playtesting, but I think only Riz knows exactly how everything is designed to work and what is supposed to affect what (especially the weighting of different factors), and when it is that an Attribute has no affect at all

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "how is the relativity of these Attributes used?" but I'm thinking you're probably wondering "what actually affects scouting? is it just the Judging Ability/Judging Potential Attributes?"



Judging Ability/Potential are going to be the primary factor in a Scouts ability to "scout" (the giving of opinions/recommendations/ratings regarding players that were scouted).



Job specific factors like "coaching" Attributes have no affect on "scouting" but some of those "general/personality" Attributes might have some affect on the end result of scouting (the opinions/recommendations/ratings)

IIRC Determination is thought to have an affect on scouting, but exactly what I don't know (more accurate faster? more players seen? or... )



I'd like to think Adaptability has some affect on scouting, in that a Scout with low Adaptability should struggle or even be unable to Scout in foreign/unfamiliar countries, but in reality I don't think this is the case.....same with Attributes like Coaching Defenseman having an affect on scouting: I wish they did (like if a Scout had a high Coaching D and lower Coaching G/Coaching F Attributes, their scouting reports on defenseman would be more complete/accurate than their scouting reports on goalies/forwards), but it doesn't work this way.....another area of Attributes that could but doesn't have an affect AFAIK (but should IMO) is that of coaching style Attributes

It seems to me to be certain that CA isn't as relevant for Scouts as it is for some other Staff like a Coach or GM, as they have far fewer "relevant Attributes" among those Attributes that are not general/personality (I think it's just Judging Ability/Judging Potential), so Scouts could have very different CAs but have the same values in Judging Ability/Judging Potential + the few other relevant general/personality Attributes & thus be "the same" in terms of scouting ability
