End of an Era in Chicago

Post by beezer2434 » Fri Jul 27, 2018 3:07 pm

The trade deadline marks the end of era for the Blackhawks. The aging core has been fully disbanded for a plethora of draft picks as the rebuild is in full motion.

Kane and Toews were the final two to move on. Hawks dealt Kane to division rival Nashville while sending Toews east to Washington. Both players generating at least a 1st Round pick minimum. Hawks botched the Duncan Keith trade options several seasons ago, and were determined not to repeat the same mistake with Kane, Toews, and Panarin.

Also parting ways with the team are: Brent Seabrook, Artemi Panarin, Richard Panik, Trevor Van Reimsdyk, and Carter Hart.

Earlier this season Hawks brought in Zemgus Girgensons and John Moore. Both have been dealt at the deadline. Hawks obtained a 4th to take Girgensons contract, then obtained another 4th to trade him to St Louis. While John Moore generated a future 2nd Round Pick.

Players traded:

Patrick Kane
Jonathan Toews
Artemi Panrin
Brent Seabrook
Richard Panik
Trevor Van Riemsdyk
Carter Hart
John Moore
Zemgus Girgensons

Players/Assets brought in:

2023 1st (NSH)
2023 1st (WAS)
2024 1st (BOS)
2024 2nd (NSH)
2024 2nd (MIN)
2025 2nd (STL)
2024 3rd (VAN)
2023 4th (CBJ)
2023 4th (VAN)
2023 4th (STL)
Alexander Edler
Travis Hamonic
Adam Larsson

Hawks will explore trade options for Hamonic and Larsson and look to add more assests for the rebuild. The future is bright in Chicago.
