Thanks so much for explaining things! So the best database to edit and play around with would be the one that 'comes with the game'?
nino33 wrote:While a lot of the EHM07 general knowledge is the same for the new EHM, rating players/editing is not.
Players now have "Player Roles" which affect their Attributes, and development is different than it was inEHM07 (more Attributes develop now, and development is different (EHM07 players were "too often too good" and developed unrealistically fast).

There is no "guide" or "rulebook" for editing the new EHM; I've spent hundreds of hours testing and am still learning/figuring things out; in general, Attribute values have to be within a certain range and need to average out to a certain value (but we don't "know" the ranges/values and have to use experience/testing results to try to determine them).

And a 100 CA when drafted is a player who's going to stay in Junior another year or two and then is still likely to be a number of years away from playing in the NHL (to get an idea of appropriate values of prospects take look at the CA/Attributes given to current NHL prospects/2016 Draft prospects.......and I believe NHLers are pretty "correct" and for NHLers the game changes little to none of the ratings, so they'd be good examples)
Ah yep that makes sense. I'm a bit of a sucker for editing stuff, I love it yet hate it in a loving kind of way (if that makes sense).

My understanding is the default DBs are essentially TBL databases without the player/team/league names
I'd think the databases that have come out since EHM:EA has (TBL 7.4, 8.0 and 8.1) would be the "best" databases to use

Oh yeah thats right, forgot about the fake names etc. I downloaded he TBL 8.1 last night to edit it but as I mentioned in the previous post, I couldn't find the 'database' file to load into the editor?

Has anyone figured out how to remove teams from the NHL with this new DB editor? Want to create an 8-team NHL.

Use the Import button in EHM 1. That'll create the database.db file which can be edited in the Editor.

You can swap teams around from the Clubs screen. But you have to maintain the same numbers of teams in each league/division. League structures aren't editable yet.

Same thing happened with me. Spent hours playing around and editing, saved it, imported it into the game loaded it up and nothing changed. Loaded the database back up in the editor, and nothing had changed :(

Have you guys remembered to import the database again?

As I said earlier, you don't need to reimport the db. All that does is convert the EHM 2007 DB in EHM 1 format, thereby overwriting your edited DB. Just edit the DB and then start a new game.

Hi guys,
I'm a newbie when it comes to this stuff and I'm probably missing something stupid, but I can't find any players to edit. I can get to clubs, cities, staff ect, but no players. I'm in the same directory as the screenshots under steam/steamapps.....8.1a/database.db. Please help

The players are under the Staff button/category. Staff means both players and non-players. You're not the first to ask this and so I'll make the Staff button a little more descriptive for the next version.

I think I'm still missing something stupid. Under the staff tab I have Basic Data, Contract, Non Player, and Preferences tabs. Also, since I couldn't get to the players I edited two staff members just to see if it worked. The staff I edited were back to their original values when I opened a new game. I didn't re-import the file, just selected it when I opened the game. What am I missing?

EDIT: Ok I found the players...that was stupid of me, but the numbers I edited on the 2 staff members are still there when i look at them in this file but not when I open the game

The player tab will be available when viewing a player - try looking for somebody like Crosby.

Are you using Run as Administrator when loading the Editor? If not, your changes won't be saved.

Thank you my friend. That worked, but now I have another problem you may be able to help with. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes.
The game was working fine and I was going back and forth between the game and editor trying to find the right mix. I started a game and I had to go to the kitchen for a bit, when I came back the computer was sleeping. When I woke the computer the game was locked. I restarted my system and now the game won't launch. Error code 51. Any ideas?

EDIT:
Reinstalled steam and the game and it works

Any way the first version of the editor works on a Mac?

I haven't tried. You could try PlaysOnMac. Provided you can first install the Redistributable mentioned in the Editor download thread then it may well work.

You need to use the Import function in EHM to generate the DB file.
