He's been really really good, he was good in Chicago but it feels like Benoit Allaire has done it again, Raanta looks great.

Not everyday we see Getz doing mistakes like that.

Not really a NHL thing but found no thread that was more suited for this so here goes. Zach Bratina just quit because of recurring concussion syndroms, 19 years old and 2nd in goals in the OHL so far this season. Sad to see a talented kid quit but probably a smart life decision.

No point in creating a new thread for that so you're forgiven. :-D Yeah that's a real shame when that happens.

It's a shame but it's smart that he did that. So many athletes can't bring themselves to see that.

Good on Zach. And more and more the players are smart enough to realize (maybe still too late) that the injuries may not be worth it. Especially the BRAIN INJURIES. This is a good thing, and is the way towards getting the NHL and all its feeder leagues (And thus the game in general) to start doing the RIGHT things about brain injury and protection from getting one.

Zach is one of the better players who have packed it in at a young age because of this, so he gets publicity. But there are quite a few out west who do not have the cache he has had who are doing it, or have done it. Many say they have "lost passion for the game". This is quite often why.

Yeah, it's definitely a good "trend". Concussions should not be played with, when they start influencing your private life then it's time to quit (probably alot sooner then that). That someone like Franzén didn't quit years ago is beyond me, he will probably have concussion syndroms on and off for the rest of his life now i assume (i'm clearly not an expert on the subject but going by recent history among the retired fighters).

So rumors are that Marleau wants out and that he's willing to waive for Ducks(?), Kings(?!) and Rangers. Guess whos extra happy Sather is not the GM anymore? he would have been all over this. I wouldn't mind Marleau per sé but a deal is extremely hard to make between Rangers and Sharks.

Season after season there are rumors about the Marleau trade, I just hope he stays with Sharks and finishes his career there :-D

But almost all the rumors before has been Sharks wanting him and/or Thornton out to get younger, this time the rumor is that Marleau himself wants out.

Doesn't want out very badly. He has basically Keslered the Sharks. No way they move him in divison (in state even)...so yeah not going anywhere at this time. One team is the reality of this list that he would rather be on than the Sharks, so I just do not see it happening.

Yeah, i don't see it happening either, Rangers and Sharks are terrible trade partners.

That looks really bad, terrible time to open the door. The hit isn't that bad, probably a 2 min boarding, but with the door opening it becomes terrible, without that he would be fine, super unlucky.

New York Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic has requested a trade to a Western Conference team, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reported on Wednesday.

Hamonic, 25, would like to be traded to either the Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers or Vancouver Canucks to be closer to his family in Western Canada, TSN's Darren Dreger said. According to Dreger, Hamonic has unspecified "family concerns" he would like to address.

Well that came out of the blue!?

Oilers should be all over that, will they "sacrifice" Eberle or Yakupov though? I can't see Islanders doing it without one of them (or one of the younger guys but i doubt Oilers will even consider that)

Yeah EDM needs him the most. CGY not at all. Well EDM doesn't have anything else to offer than young guys. :-D EDM first round pick is valuable though..

Oilers will consider Eberle. But...the other part of the deal is where the issue is. Eberle is not enough to get this deal done. I think because Hamonic is hidden with the Islanders... and noone sees him, they do not realize how good he is. This kid is a top level D....what Vancouver would have to give up...another top level D, plus one of their good prospects shows that.

Edmonton-Eberle pls dman pls draft pick
Calgary-Starts with a dman like Hamilton....yes yes it does.
Vancouver-STarts with a dman like Tanev and one of their prospect forwards playing.
Winnipeg--Starts with .... well....they do not really have the right type of player.

BUT...Winnipeg is really WHERE Hamonic wants to go

I don't think the price would be that high, Eberle + B-prospect or 2nd rounder would probably do it is my guess, maybe slightly more. I like Hamonic though, he's a legit first pairing guy, not really a #1 yet though. Jets just don't need him since they are so stacked on the right side D with Buf, Trouba and Myers. Rumors are that Hamonic might consider extending his "list" (he doesn't have a NMC/NTC but his image as a good guy and all gives him alot of say in the matter) to some more teams in the West.

That sounds exactly like something that would come up in EHM news.
