I disagree, PK is a top-5 D-man in the league, Webers decline has started and he's not a top-5 D-man anymore. Add that Webers contract is way worse then PKs. Weber is 4 years older and signed for 4 years longer then PK is.

Well, he is a top-7 Canadian D-man... Just that Hockey Canada hates him for some reason, not much he can do about that. Lindholm and Klingberg isn't on Swedens team either, doesn't mean they are worse players Kronwall (they really are MUCH better), i'd go as far as to say that Lindholm is a top-15 D in the league.

Can't use the fact that X got picked for a team and Y didn't as proof that X is better.

My point wasn't about what he did in the KHL, it was the KHL is such a different game it's not very relevant (IMO) that he was "in a league of his own in the KHL" - he most definitely won't be in the NHL (I think it'll be a big difference for him actually seeing defense/hitting/shot blocking now and all at a much higher pace than any KHL game)

P.S. When Steve Moses is your record holder for most goals, and Alexander Semin is still considered a top scorer, it's a very different game

Fair enough, just remember that Radulov is by far the best player to ever come over from KHL, i think he will be really good. Doesn't make Habs hypocracy less fun though Trade Subban for character issues, sign Shaw and Radulov

Can't really take that turnover stat seriously when it doesn't count as a turnover if you dump it out of the zone by the boards and it ends up on an opponents stick.

But if you want to talk stats, lets talk stats. Explain to me how the defensive rock Shea Weber has TERRIBLE shot suppression (Relative CA/60: 8.38) while the defensive liability P.K Subban has good shot suppression (Relative CA/60: -1.81)?

Or maybe why the defensively solid guy bleeds shots when he's on the ice (Relative CF%: -2.57) while PK drives the play forward (Relative CF%: 4.14)?

Edit 1: I think Weber is still a good #1 D-man in the league, but he's clearly on the decline while PK is still in his peak and with the contracts being what they are that make the deal heavily favor Preds imo.

Edit 2: You can always find a stat to drive your narrative, does PK play a high risk game and has some bad turnovers? Absolutely. Does Shea Weber have problems moving the puck and hence gets stuck in his own zone alot which builds pressure? Certainly. Do you think it's worse to make the odd bad turnover here and there or to consistenly lose possession in your own zone because you have problems moving the puck? I think the latter is a much bigger issue while the former stands out alot more and is more noticeable.

No, I'm saying as long as Moses holds the KHL goals record, and top 10 (2015-16) KHL scoring includes Brandon Bochenski, Matt Ellison, Linus Omark and Nigel Dawes I don't give a lot of credence to Radulov's KHL stats/performace like you do


I think we have differing opinions about the level/quality of play in the KHL in comparison to the NHL

EDIT - IMO the KHL and NHL are as different as baseball and fastpitch softball, or the CFL and the NFL.....they're playing the same game, but they're really not

Nah, i agree that the KHL is a pretty big step down, but Radulov has been a step above in the international competitions aswell for Russia, still obviously not comparing it to the NHL though. I just think he's insanely talented and he seems to have grown up ALOT since his last stint in the NHL.

I think the game is just "different" and honestly, probably better in many ways (the NHL is manufactured/fake speed, more dump it in/out now than the 1970s and most games are boring IMO); reminds me of when I was young and people compared the NFL/CFL.....it was generally accepted that overall the NFL had the better talent by a significant margin, but the CFL was more exciting/entertaining than the NFL & while some could not all star players could do well in both leagues

Radulov's a good player, and may prove to be an NHL star, I just don't think so...

P.S. Also, Panarin might be the best player to come from the KHL

I think alot of people got surprised by his season. I hope they won't regret it later though. Maybe playing with Hall with only improve his numbers....or he will have less ice-time and he's gonna get less.

Perreault got a new contract aswell, $4.125 AAV for 4 years, i think this is a GREAT contract. Perreault is such an underrated player, his scoring rate /60 is great and he drives possession even though his usage is pretty defensive minded. This contract is a steal compared to Palmieris (which i think is OK).

MacKinnon and Scheiffle both signed long term.
