OldGregg wrote:I have an earlier save from just after the draft and I haven't submitted any stats for S5 yet, would I be able to revert to that save? I could go back and just trade Petry for a pick and waive Gallagher, or just waive both of them and forfeit my draft pick trade for S5.
Alternatively I could give Anaheim back the 2nd rounder I got for Gallagher along with my 7th rounder in 2026 and receive Anaheim's 2026 7th rounder (so they'd get their pick back and we'd just be swapping 2026 7th rounders). I could also give them back the 2nd round pick for the rights to a mediocre veteran (Max Gortz - mediocre 28 year old who's only played SHL and 1 AHL season) and immediately release those rights.
This is new to me, so I hope I'm not wrong in my thinking, but.....the options you outline seem like reasonable solutions to me

let us know what you decide to do

About to start Y2 and my team is still patchy as hell. Draft first.
31. Adam Boqvist, OFD 1-2 potential, poor man's Gio (He was a better version or him and Suter on draft day..) 1/5 star.
50. Barrett Hayton, Offensive playmaking C, like Mitch Wahl which is unfortunate but he has good scout reports and decent attributes for a 18yo, 1/3 star
61. Mitch Messner, defensive LW, like Alex Killorn/Lucic, he's 19yo and might be ready for NHL already, if not he's top AHL LW, 1/4 star
62. Austen Keating, 2-way C, like Jordan Schroeder, another overager tried to get NHL ready guys, 2/4 star
93. Marko Ojanen, Goal scoring C, like Kuznetsov, a McDavid-ing gem, might get a shot at my currently empty 2C spot, 0/5 star
155. Yan Aucoin, 2-way LD, like Nate Prosser, decent for the position imo, 0/4 star
I made sure to get players who had lenghty reports and no bad decisions, no bad consistensty and I verified they had decent turnover/giveaway and other stats. Fairly happy with how it went.
I signed Mark Barbeiro for 2,1 x 5. Needed a powerplay specialist and he had a great year on Col's PP.
Players out: Carr, Davidson, Deslauriers, Mitchell, Terry, Hemsky, Jerabek, Plekanec, Eisenschmid, Parisi. Would have kept Hemsky and Terry since they were good respective 3rd line and AHLer but they didn't want to re-sign.
Lines:
Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Drouin
Byron - VACANT - Gallagher
Hudon - Holland - VACANT
de la Rose - Danault - McCarron
Potential 2Cs: Daniel Audette, Jake Evans, Marko Ojanen, Lukas Vejdemo.
Potential 3RW: Lehkonen, Evans, Max Friberg, Martin Reway, Andrew Shaw(he sucked for me so likely my trade target)
D is
Mete - Weber
Alzner - Petry
Morrow - Barbeiro/Benn
Morrow sometime played 2nd LD he's been good for me.
I am likely to waive Montoya and use Lindgren as backup this year. Schlemko has been ass so he's in my AHL.
Edit: Also only 1 trade is allowed per year right? Except S1 ofc.

nino33 wrote:I started this Challenge the week before last, and got through the initial team setup (staffing, scouting, training and tactics) and training camp the first week (went 2 wins 4 losses in the exhibition season), and through most of the first 20 games of the season last week.....and this week so far I've finished off the first 20 games (finished 10-7-3) and am currently at 15-7-3 and on a 6 game winning streak!
Alas I'm not even going to get season one completed
Lately when I have the time for/want to spend the time on EHM, I'm really feeling like working on the 74DB and so that's what I've done, and so I haven't gotten back to playing EHM (and don't foresee that changing anytime soon...but ya never know! HaHa)
I have been making decent progress on the editing work lately, so that's a good thing

As I thought, I couldn't be as good as my flukey Cup in year 1.. Got swept by Tampa.
Lines were mostly:
Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Drouin/Gallagher
Hudon/Lehk - Evans - Gallagher/Drouin
Hudon - Holland/Danault - Reway
Byron/DLR - Danault - McCarron/Shaw
Mete - Weber
Morrow - Petry
Alzner - Barbeiro/Benn
Price - Lindgren/Montoya
My trade was Charlie Lindgren for Joel Eriksson Ek. He's been ripping my AHL apart, but couldn't really make his spot on my 3rd C yet.
G: Fucale is killing my AHL as well but didn't do so hot when called up.
D: Adam Boqvist got 50 pts in 70 games but his attributes are not too hot, I'll give him a shot on the team next year for sure. No other D has been any good, Bourque will be my first callup cause he has ok defensive attributes and has good +/-, Juulsen might not be a total bust.
LW: Mick Messner is a McDavid-ing beast, he already looks like he could be my 3rd line LW. Looks like Lucic haha! It'll be hard to fit Hudon, Lehkonen, Byron and Messner. Messner is for sure on my team next year.
C: Juicy part. Eriksson Ek got 67 pts in 44 games, attributes are alright, he's ready for the NHL.
I signed Ikonen and he has an amazing shot, speed and good faceoff but I will let him marinate in the AHL for now.
Audette slowly getting better, I wouldn't mind using him at all he's better than Holland and Danault atm.
Austen Keating who I almost traded has spiked in speed, he's also developed a good faceoff and will be in my AHL next year.
Will Bitten has been disapointing in my AHL 39 pts in 74 games but he has amazing offensive attributes and extremely low stamina, some more AHL time but he might be a callup.
Gregoire keeps getting better but very slowly, he will be an AHLer for life.
Vejdemo nothing too spectacular, AHL for now.
Poehling still isn't amazing for me except for hitting, faceoff and deflection. I wonder if he can be anything more than a 4th liner for me.
Marko Ojanen has been amazing for me, his shot is already amazing and he's been shooting 24%. 45 goals 38a in 76 games, I want to try him on my team but idk where he would fit.
RW: Scherbak and Addison are still long shots, Friberg and Baun are dominating my AHL.
I'm worried about signing Patches, he's reluctant to sign for now I hope he will want to sign around the draft...
Price ended my season with a GAA of 2 and sv% of .927, blasting last years 2.25 GAA and .920 sv% out of the water! Hope he wins the Vezina

RIP, lost Pacioretty because I waited too long... I hate how it takes multiple days to accept or deny offers, esp on june 30th. I'll give 3rd season a try but this may scrap my team and I might stop until next challenge.

Trying this out! It's going to be tough not making trades and signing free agents. I like to customize my team.
*edit*
I just noticed there are only 2 days left. Too bad! I'll get in on the next one.
