The delete button has always baffled me, why can't we use it? :dunno:

I'm gonna take a look to see if anyone else other than Eastside UK can edit it for future editions, but im pretty sure i wont be able to. :-(

No Dave, and there will not be. This is not the right place to ask since we don't make the editor here.

League Reputation - Pre-Game Editor

This may sound like a dumb-dumb question, but i'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. If I change the reputation of a league using the pregame editor, will it attract better players?

For example, I was going to change the AHL's reputation to be close, or even to the NHL so it could draw better players. Then removing affiliations, I had planned on re-vamping the league with a new name and teams and what not to start from scratch. Hoping to create a "rival league". Then I realize the Veteran Rule rears it's ugly head as well though, but I figure that the AHL is the best and easiest league to do this with.

To make the AHL competitive with the NHL you'd have the change a whole lot more than rep. There are also the financial aspects: ice halls, city reputation, team reputations and so on. Plus you would have to remove affiliations to NHL teams, or it would become a mess of the AHL's own players and NHL players sent down to them.

Moved to Graphics and Game Add-ons Forum.

You would have to give the AHL teams the same reputations and budgets as the NHL teams.

Even then, NHL teams could just sign any player from an AHL team whenever they wish, as this is hardcoded into the game.

Denmark would seem a better place to put a competing league. They have a tiny schedule, but no roster rules and the transfer agreement makes it attractive.

Problems while editing danish league.. Please help

Hi, im trying to make a roster patch and an update for the danish league in this game..

Basicly what i did was to get the last roster update, and then start modding it..

Im all done but some problems accured

First of all, the danish league has changed name to AL Bank Ligaen, instead of Oddset Ligaen - new sponsor thing.. it gave me an error about that and crashed a bit later..

Second, we have expended the league to 10 teams, when Hvidovre IK got a new sponsor they moved up.. however when i add their club to the league, it pushes another team out and it contains 9.. It seems that the game is locked on that in some kind of way..

Any help would be apriciated..

Hey!

Im not sure about editing League names, since I havnt done it myself, but Ive heard about other ppl getting errors too, that why I havnt tried it for myself.

As for league-size, its impossible to add more teams to a league since its hard-coded. It would make alot of things easier, but its just something we have to live with :dunno:

If you REALLY want to play with all teams, one option is to move all the teams to another playable league with 10 teams. (Dont forget to remove the other teams already in it though)

Hey man, thanks for the answer.. man it really sucks that such a simple thing just cant be changed.. I guess i cant implement a foreign players rule in the league either then..

Correct. - All league rules and league structures are hard-coded. Best you can really do is change league names, colours, and replace teams.

I think it has to deal with the licenses acquisitions. So it was either that or totally faked names for players, teams, leagues, and all. Plus, SI certainly didn't thought they would cease the devellopement, so there should have been an EHM08, and therefore no need for the fans to make updates. As a result, the hard-coded number of teams in a league wasn't an issue.

Things ran a different way than expected, and so it became an unexpected issue. Annoying for those who update the game, but definitely not SI's fault. So i wouldn't say that it 'sucks', although it must be really annoying and frustrating...

Why did SI never release another game?, due to License things or simply due to lack of interrest?..

Maybe licenses are too expensive for a "simple" game like this..

# OF GAMES, SCHEDULES ARE hardcoded. SO you won;t be able to add a game. You also cannot add teams as the Number of teams per league are hardcoded.

I am renaming your thread, and calling it:

THE OFFICIAL TBL EDITING LEAGUES THREAD>

Because we get asked this question about different leagues all the time..and it is the same answer for every single league...be it Danish, AHL, NHL ,Poland, or freaking Brunei. # of teams per league cannot be changed.

However, other things can.

You can read the full story at the SI boards. But basically, SEGA cut the game due to poor sales.

Now, I'm sure everyone has their opinion on why sales were poor, and SI's official story is piracy. Though, I strongly believe it was lack of advertising in the should-be core markets(Canada and US). Without advertising, your game doesn't exist.
Maybe licenses are too expensive for a "simple" game like this..
I would agree.

Though, in SI's defence, licenses are a lose-lose situation. Either they make all leagues fake to save money, but lose the strong mainstream selling points provided by having real leagues... or they have real leagues to excite potential customers, but have to pay for those leagues.

Though in the end, it's threads like this that prove fake leagues probably would have been the better route. The great community behind these games very quickly fill the holes, and in many cases, go beyond what SI could have had time or resources to do themselves. Encouraging third party mods could have bumped the EHM team from a handful of guys, all the way up to a few hundred.

:dunno: Oh well... back on topic.

Thanks Stinson. And yeah...lets not get into this discussion about "WHY" EHM did not work. Anyone who wants to discuss that, SI GAMes site has a billion threads for you. :-D

Anyway, I will have to get the editor soon and start playing around with some stuff for fun.

Does anyone know if you can actually move staff to the National Team with the editor?

I've run into a problem moving former HPK head coach Jukka Jalonen to his new job as Team Finland assistant coach. There is no Team Finland (or I can't find it) in the regular team selection tab, and while I try to click on the "Nation Contracted" thingies below, nothing happens - they act the same way as the "Delete button", which doesn't work.

Any idea, if it can be done, or should I just leave him unemployed and be done with it?

B. Stinson wrote:I don't know, but I'm becoming very baffled by this error.

I just tried renaming the Allsvenskan to "HockeyAllsvenkan" and the Swedish Elitserien to just "Elitserien", and I get the error. Then I also get some *.cpp errors as well, which were related to these leagues.

I'm beginning to wonder how D88 managed to rename so much in his TBL DB with no trouble. :-k
Back to this error that is shaking the world of EHM...

I'm having the same problem while trying to rename HPK and Ilves in the Finnish SM-liiga to fit the naming style of other teams in the country, and I too get the index error, then .cpp-error and crash. Had no problem renaming any of the other teams... :-k

What is the most amazing part of this is, as Stins said, that D88 had no problem naming these teams while making his unfaking database, as the original version had them only by their town names for licensing issues. And now I can't change these two for some reason... :-?

Hmmm. I wonder what could be up with that. Maybe ask D88 if there is something else needed. I saw him here yesterday, so he is around.

Is it possible to add teams to a league that is non-playable?

Ive found a couple of teams missing Junior Affiliates, and I was wondering if I can just squeeze them into an existing Jr-league without making any of the teams in it inactive.

Additionally, is it possible to create a new league?
Norway doesnt have a Jr. league at all... The editor has an option to create a new competition, does anyone have experience using that?

I do recall them saying that you can create non-playable leagues with the newest version of the editor. I haven't done it yet, though, so I can't say whether it works.

The Leagues and the number of teams in each league are hardcoded and not editable. Which sucks because you can't add AHL teams to give each NHL team their own. Edmonton gets royally hosed on this.

As for the new comp, I have no idea, but wouldn't think you could. You can create a "tournament" type league I think in game.
