A co-worker said that no matter what they name the team, it'll be socially known as the Jets.

Now the big wait will be what the team name will be. And you ain't seen angry Peggers until you've seen em not get that Jets name back. Just a forewarning of things to come... lol

Some people here are widdled though. They are not going to be able to afford the season tickets they had with the Moose so have to give them up. So a few co-workers are grumbling.

If the Phoenix Coyotes organization still owns the Jets name, I'm sure a deal could be worked out where the new Winnipeg ownership buys it.

I know we won't see the "Jets" in the db until Lidas 4.0, but is there someplace us impatient types can go to figure out how to use the editor to customize our 3.4 db until then?

I can make a version as soon as the name is set. I dont want to have a version with the Winnipeg Jets if they are going to be called the Manitoba Falcons

Ronc wrote:Motivated by Jets, i done Jets over Atlanta database. Jets dont have players or staff, so u have to build ur franchise all the way from bottom.. Chairman is... tadaaaa BOBBY ORR ;)

Includes Jets DB v.0.9 + Jets logo.
I will add this to download section later ;)

Does that help?

Apparently the NHL owns the rights to teh Jets name. We will just have to see what happens with that. Personally I hope they bring in the Jets name.

It will not be Jets. Guarandamnteeit. Fans can say what they want. If Chipman uses the name I will be absolutely schocked.
Can call it socially the Jets all they want. It won't be official.

Falcon-Jets.

I wouldn't be shocked if they kept the Thrashers.

I would be blown away if they kept the Thrashers name. More so than even if they went Jets. I hope they do go with Jets...I just do not see it happening. Fans are going to have to work very hard to convince Chipman. He hates the name.

According to Don Waddell (i read this on Puck Daddy: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_d ... ng-content) the Winnipeg team can't be called 'Trashers' because the Atlanta Spirit group (former owners of the Trashers) still owns the name.
Which is good.

Drive to 13 is well under way. 1870 season tickets sold in 3 1/2 hours. It'll be interesting to see what the update today will be.

The thrasher is the state bird of Georgia and the ownership group has stated that they are not interested in the Jets name, so I doubt you'll see either one. Plus the rights to both of the names are owned by the Atlanta Spirit Group and the NHL respectively.

Bettman said that the Jets name is available if True North wants it but we don't know how much $$$$ it could cost.

And 17 min into the general public sale....13000! Good job Winnipeg. BoD pretty much has to approve it now.

Actually it looks like the 6,000 season tickets remaining at open sale were gone in less than 2 minutes, and TNSE said it took a further 15 minutes to process it all.

Not only that but there is a waiting list of 8,000 people to get season tickets. Very impressive!

Now we just need to find out what the team name will be.

It also looks like a lot of Atlanta players are looking forward to playing in Wpg. Which is a good thing.

Yeah they are not whining like a choking goalie from Phoenix. :** Andrew Ladd already said that it will be a mojor change for him to play in front of a crowd that cares about hockey. :-D

Ladd came to Wpg last week to check out the arena and talk to the new owners. Apparently it went pretty well, Ladd seems to like the direction TNSE is going and their plans, and seems to want to take a leadership role in helping team members move their family here. Now they just have to sign him.

Apparently TNSE is going to be growing a team, not trying to slap one together for a cup win, they do want a cup, but they are not going to slap a team together for it. They've also said that they are going to be a fairly frugal team, low to mid price range. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. While I agree with their team goals and how to build it, I also don't want to lose out on players we would've helped build up because they can get a better price elsewhere. But that's all speculation right now. I'm still waiting on the team name.

There was a poll done about what the new name should be and something like 63% said 'Jets' the next highest team name was 'Falcons' with 9%. 'None of the above' brought in 11%. Something like 30,000 voted on it. I don't know for sure, it was just something I heard on the radio the other day. So it may not even be true. :dunno:
