I'm really surprise right now, Avs really need offence no?

I hope that Saku Koivu goes to Anaheim. In Anaheim he can play in 2nd line with Teemu Selänne and they can practice for Olympics !

I think that Saku doesn't choose Minnesota, Toronto or Los Angeles cause those aren't Stanley Cup candidates.
Yeah, but what Sabres are doing?

I think they should put Afinogenov to waivers or first they should try to trade him somewhere cause he has played two poor seasons in a row. And I don't know why Sabres doesn't have made new contract with Teppo Numminen. He played very well in last season and he can still play over 20 minutes per game when he is healthy although he is over 40 year old.

CatchUp wrote:Exactly - that's why he should go to Anaheim on a one year deal. Play a year with Teemu, then sign with Minny. Best of both worlds.
I'll miss Saku - he is a real trooper. I hope someone gives him 5+ per.

I was actually kinda thinking the same thing.

I don't think the Avs are really expecting to be a playoff team for a few years and Smyth's contract is a big one to be carrying. Plus, he's not getting any younger and the Kings are starting to look like a better team, so it could be a good fit for him.

Wouldn't the Avs have been better trading for a 2nd rounder or something...? Preissing and Quincey aren't helping in terms of youth and a 5th rounder rarely turns into much...
The Kings needed that bit of experience with Kopitar, Brown, Johnson still relatively young and without playoff experience. Smyth is a great fit!

I don't know of they trade Smyth to get some cap space to sign UFA. I heard something like they want to bring back Tanguay, still, i don't think it's gonna happen.
Oh and i like the news on TSN that says: '' Most hated man in hockey'' with a picture of Dany Heatley.

Alex Kovalev sign with the Senators a 2 years deal, 5 millions a year. Beauchemin sign with the Leafs a 3 year, 10 millions. So, is this mean that Heatley is about to leave Ottawa? Here the fan of Kovalev are completely shock.

For me i'm so happy this story is finish.

Do you mean
this? Personally, I've always hated Heatley. He doesn't represent sportmanship and fairplay on international tournaments. That's maybe something that is hidden to US and Canada fans, but here in Europe, we know him...

Is the Beauchemin signing making room for a Kaberle trade...?

I don't know.

If they keep Kaberle they will have a great defense tough.

If they keep Kaberle, surely they have toooo many D-men, Beauchemin, Komisarek, Exelby, Schenn, Van Ryn, White, Finger, Stralman...

Yeah your right. Karberle is certainly the most easy to trade, Schenn is the futur of the team, Beauchemin and Komi just sign. Finger sucks but is 4.4 a year ( most stupid move ever ) Tough, i don't know who still be in the race for him.

I'm sure someone will be after him... Burke won't trade Schenn, when asked at the draft about 2nd overall pick, he said he could have got it but wouldn't give up Schenn ever... I never realised Finger was on that much! If someone takes that contract of them, fool whoever takes it! They could get a decent youngster who can help this year for Kabby... Someone like Little or, as rumoured before, Kessel...

They certainly need some young guy. They need foward, young and good foward. But Kessel's trade is dead now. Little it's a good idea, Waddell sucks, but i don't know if he will trade Little, Kovalchuk is gonna play all alone again without him.

So after a week of Free agency i lookied at NHL.coms top 50 Free Agents, i chopped the list down to who's left. There are a couple that could change a team:
Forwards
Saku Koivu
Robert Lang
Alex Tanguay
Mats Sundin
Jason Williams
Brendan Morrison
Mike Comrie
Defense
Marc-Andre Bergeron
Paul Mara
Derek Morris
Sergei Zubov
Goaltenders
Martin Biron
Manny Fernandez
Antero Niittymaki
Manny Legace
Olaf Kolzig
Who would you like to see in your team?

Zubov and Kolzig should retire.
I'm suprise that Morris haven't found a new team yet. Tanguay is the most talented of all the foward available( i don't mention Sundin because of is age ) but maybe is asking for too much, for the goalie there's nothing really interesting, except maybe Biron.

Fernandez really should retire. He was good when healthy last season but his back is a mess. He should retire now and hopefully not make his health issues worse for the rest of his life.

He might be waiting to see if his uncle ends up somewhere coaching.

Seems that Gustavsson have sign with the Leafs. Brian Burke is on fire.

Can't wait to see this goalie play, just to see if all i've heard of him is true.
