Taylor Hall

Here is the synopsis from MCBatdad's magazine ,specializing in everything hockey.

Hall--A smallish forward in the mold of: Ales Hemsky, Andrew Cogliano, Sam Gagner, Patrick O'Sullivan, Shawn Horcoff and Gilbert Brule. This pick is exactly what the Oilers needed to fill out their top nine smurfs. Steve Tambellini is doing an excellent job of selecting his team of the future. Small and injured but quick. I predict that in the future the entire NHL will go this way, doing away with such behemoths as Thornton, Byfuglien, Chara, Gill and the like. I mean, what does a big guy do for your team anyway? The Montreal Canadians model is the future. That is why the Oilers made this pick. Oh, and they will rely totally on the amazing out of this world goaltending performance of one Deven Dubnyk to make it to the Stanley Cup FInals in the rookie season of Mr. Hall.

I wanted to suggest that either Hensel or DJP19 PM grits207 and tell him to hurry up, but well... I think it's no use after all.

Just say thaat before the draft some GM loses their jobs because their team didn't win enough in the season.

Sorry I have been missing. I was on vacation in California and didn't have much time to check EHM while I was there. I did get to see the Sharks vs hawks game . Glad to see that this got started, but we need all the guys that signed up to now start making their picks.

Actually, I think your next step would be to boot grits207. Boston has been on the clock for several days now. And he should know it, because he's signed in at least twice since this started (his most recent being this morning).

Technically he has until Tuesday at 1600 my time (GMT+10) if we're going on the rule that each person has 72 hours to draft. Although, now that I think of it, 72 hours is a bit much. Lets give it 48 hours and see how we go.

With that in mind, I suggest turning Boston's pick over to someone else.

The Boston Bruins are proud to select from the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL - Tyler Seguin.

TSN: Well, we waited a long time for that pick certainly. Turns out when we set the 10 minute clock, we lost power and it's been flashing 12:00 for the past 4 days...whoda thunk it? Anyhow, this is not a surprise at all for anyone that's followed junior hockey. Tyler Seguin is a premier center, tied Taylor Hall with 106 points this year for the OHL lead. He really sees the game well, this is a kid that oozes hockey sense. He can dish with the best of them too, very creative playmaker. He can put the puck in the net himself too, very good wrist shot with a nice release. However, I think the goals won't come in bunches until later in his career. He's a very good skater that possesses a second gear. I'm not completely sold on him defensively though. Sometimes the effort for it is there, sometimes the effort is misplaced, and sometimes there isn't much of an effort for the defensive zone. Not sure how that will evolve at the next level. He is very determined. I will say that he might be better served with one more year in Plymouth. Boston with Savard, Bergeron and Krejci has no need to rush him into the lineup. This is a good situation for Seguin, this is a good situation for Boston. They have some leeway to trade a center in the future and bring in an entry-level player.

You kind of wonder how close Boston came to trading this pick. Either up, for Taylor Hall, or down for one of the defensemen. There was even some rumblings that Boston would go ahead with Brandon Gormley or Cam Fowler here and leave Seguin. However, that was not the case. This is a wonderful young man, with a good head on his shoulders and should help Bruins fans forget all about Phil Kessel.

With 1 and 2 out of the way, this is where it starts to get interesting, a good crop of d-men coming up, a couple super-skilled forwards that are European in there. Anyone can go anywhere from here on out...

Assuming a worst-case scenario, where everyone takes the full time to make a pick, the most you guys can do at this point is a 24-hour clock. Anything more than that, and you'll be overlapping the real draft coming up in almost exactly one month.

And that's also assuming you're only sticking to the first round.

With the 3rd overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the Florida Panthers are proud to select, from the Kingston Frontenacs, Erik Gudbranson.

Gudbranson is a dominating physical presence on the blue line. While his puck possession game may not be as refined as Fowler's, his ability to be in the right place at the right is uncanny. Florida does have a few defensive prospects in the pipe (Kulikov, Robak, Ellerby) but only one of them could be reasonably expected to hold down a future first-pairing position; Gudbranson WILL be a first-pair. He has been compared to Chris Pronger and Dion Phaneuf in the past but I think he'll be his own player. He only played 41 games this year due to illness but still managed 23 points and a +11. Florida's blueline will benefit from this talent but we'll likely see him complete another season in the OHL first.
