You would think...but 1 assist in 6 games playing 20 min per game and 7:30 on PP. Ugh!!!!

But I have to say he has been a beast on the PK and on faceoffs. And thank god, this team takes A LOT of penalties. One game the Penguins had 14 PP to my 1. Just like real life.

I was ranked #30 in season preview, I hope I can end up better than after the regular season though.

In the pre-season games I won 3 and lost 2, both in OT.
I scored 25 goals and conceded 12 in 5 games.
Hopefully I will keep up the goal scoring and minimize the conceded goals in regular season as I always seems to score a lot of goals, but also got a lot of goals against. I seem to end up among the top teams in both goals for and goals against.

I also recalled Pat Rissmiller from his loan so I got some more depth on RW.

As a Ranger fan it made me physically ill to see him on the team. I buried him as deep as I could. I think he is playing in the North Pole league now.

Lucic! Oh my. Yes, moments like these really are annoying.

That really is surprising. Bergfors has been the second best player on my team, right after Antropov.
Bergfors has been playing on the top line alongside Ladd and Antropov and after twenty games he's got 7G, 13A. I expected worse, but that's pretty decent.

Me too. Proved to be an OK addition to my 4th line.

What did he do to you? :-?

I've just finished the the 20-game segment. So far, we're 5th in the Eastern Conference. We're giving up too many goals, though. Like Joe, I'm often having troubles at the back end, and this Challenge is no different. I guess we'll try to remedy that. My usual lines are:

Ladd – Antropov – Bergfors
Kane – Little – Dawes
Modin – Slater – Thorburn
Eager – Stewart – Rissmiller

Peverley was injured early in the season so I started without him, and he's been filling up for Little and Slater when we've lost them to injury later on. He hasn't been that good (11 GP 1 G 6 A 7P, but -5 in +/- and AvR 6.45), so I don't know what I'll do with him when Slater comes back. I also expected more from Oduya (AvR 6.65) and Hainsey (AvR 6.75). The biggest surprises are Dawes (9G 9A 18P, +4, AvR 7.35, though pointless in the last four games, so he has to pick it up if he doesn't want Peverley to take his place) and Modin, who's been really good on my 3rd line LW, so I guess I have to take back what I said about him earlier. :-D

And Antropov is a stud. He really carries this team on his back.

In second quarted Bergfors is doing a lot of better. He is in 2nd line with Eager and Thornburn. Now Bergfors scored 9+8 in 16 games.

Ok.. I have played 40 games now and I'm really suprised how well some of "nameless" players have played.
Slater is my best goal scorer 24+31 AvR 8.45, Thornburn puts his body in game and he have +9, 183 hits, 43 blocked shots and AvR 8.16 and Eager's over 400 PIM's and AvR 7.73.

Just noticed that in league top-10 giweway leaders list there's 8 players from my team.. now.. what am I doing wrong..?

Yeah, and guess what else? Canes picked him from the waivers, we got the next game against them and Lucic assisted their first goal four minutes in the game... And in the 2nd period he collided with Bogosian and went down injured. He is out for few weeks with rotator cuff strain. There is still justice somewhere out there :-D (I have to add that we would have gotten him from waivers before Canes because they were at 14th and we were at 15th place at that time.)

Now it seems I've been able to straighten the dive of the team a little as we have won five of our last seven games. And what's the best, with somewhat defensive tactics! Some day I will even know how to do it, not just go on blindly and try everything :joy:

Just about to start Pre-Season. I didn't think about signing and NHL FA this season as the FA pool is kind of weak and it will most likely be better in season two, so I did some scouting and signed a player from the NCAA and another from CIS. Using the tier 2 on the FA Pyramid. I was gonna sign Travis Zajac's brother, but these two Prospects were two much to pass up.

I'm starting to warm up to these guys; tough, hard working and in your face. Mike Richards is starting to come around. Everyone is chipping in and tough for the guys on the bench to get an opportunity, only Peverly is under 7. 4 solid lines now

Pavelec is struggeling and Mason is on the shelf all the time, decided to sort out a deal for a goalie 20 games in to season 4. DiPietro has ben benched by some russian named Ilya Proskuryakov so I got Dipietro rather cheap, sent Pavelec the other way. Dipietro has started of well with a 47 save victory over defending champs devils.

Dude, you are into season four AND you're also producing face-packs!
Where do you get the time? Don't you have a life?

Just kidding, I wish I had more time to play. I am only in week one of season one and I started before the challenge was announced!

Well, made my first trade. The Avalanche signed Nabokov from Russia in the first season, but about 30 games into the second season their GM apparently managed to piddle all thier players off and he requested a trade, so Chris Mason is now an Av, and We have our true #1 Goltender, and not a moment too soon, been having a real problem this year keeping the puck out of my net.

Is anyone using Little as rw? Based on numbers he fits there like a glove but I am under impression most of you or perhaps all use him on c.
Other q is who do you set to shoot in each line? These guys are so similar in wrist and slap. I use getting open in my calculations as well. Should I imput some other attributes too?

Thanks in advance

I tend to set my wingers to shoot and the center to pass.
I also set one my d-men to shoot, if they got a good shot.

I have really only used him as a RW. Right now he has 15 goals in 28 games. With the lack of true RW on this team I didn't see much choice.

I'm using Little as a RW too. Actually I swap between Antropov and Little after few games to see how they are doing in different positions. And for me it seems like Little is playing better as a RW, just like Antropov.
Last 7 games for Little as a RW 9 points, AvR 8.3 and as a C 8 points, AvR 7.7
Last 7 games for Antropov as a RW 12 points, AvR 9.1 and as a C 9 points, AvR 8.5
But there's always different variables in every game, so I can't really say if there's any difference.

I am just heading into this challenge and I am facing a minor problem. The salary cap is at 36M for me. Was that done on purpose by Manimal ? THe UFA signings will be much more powerful if you have 2 M to spent (almost 4M players in relation)
I know it doesn't make much difference overall, but the loss of reality is a bit annoying.

Or is there something wrong with my game ?

Thanks for your answer....

Mine is at $59.9 using the Lida 3.0. Im not an expert but sounds like something is wrong with your database

You're not allowed to make UFA signings until the second season.

I use Little as a RW. Usually either on my 2nd or 3rd line. He's filled in a center due to injuries though. He's also been the "center" or faceoff guy on my PK unit.
joehelmer wrote:I tend to set my wingers to shoot and the center to pass.

I do the same thing sometimes. Sometimes I'll set one forward and one winger to pass while leaving the other winger to shoot. Sometimes I'll mix things us where I'll put one winger to heavy shooting if he's got a decent wrist shot (13-15) with good speed, deking, and stickhandling but then have the other winger's shooting set as selective if he's got a good wrist shot (16+). Then I leave the center's shooting as normal and have him be the playmaker.

I also like to set one defenseman to shoot and the other to pass. If you've got a defenseman with a really good slap shot, you can set your offensive zone faceoffs to "Point Shot" and set that shooting defenseman's shooting to "Barrage". That has him throwing pucks at the net and your forwards hopefully chipping in rebounds.

Hmmm, I just looked at the challenge stats and it looks like no one surpassed the 46M mark, which is the cap max in my game as well. I guess it's ok then. Thanks for your answer blueshirtnParis. It would be nice if anyone else could confirm that the salary cap is around 46M in your game? I already started and it would be annoying to start again with signing scouts and so on. And I managed to sign Joe Sakic as assistant coach - he is above 17 in every single but two, so I don't want to lose him

The salary cap should be $59.5M, and it indeed is in Manimal's LidasDB3.0 rosters. What rosters are you using?
