Yeah, but would you say the same thing if it was Saku Koivu?

When you have a guy that is known for dirty hits (Kasparitus, Marchment, and Jarkko Ruutu) it only makes it worse.

I wish that there was a special Winter Olympics Ice Hockey game coming out. You could have all 45 international nations with official kits and line-ups etc, and then have to go through the qualification procedures before the tournament proper. Unfortuneately given the necessary licenses involved it would have to be an EA Sports game...

You really that surprised? I mean sure am i surprised that it's 2-0 even after second period, but Finland is on fire on this tournament, and Selänne is *HOT* player =). I'm hoping Finland is able to play their game right till the end, but the finns have a habit of giving away the advantage they have. We'll see.

The Finns have looked good.

The problem with the Olympic tournament is that even if you do badly in the first stage, such as Canada-losing to Switzerland and maybe Finland, they could still win the gold medal...It favours the big teams, 'cos you know that they will still crush at least one of the minnows and progress.

It ends 2-0...

What are you watching the game on? I was watching BBC2 in the hope that they'd show some of it. All I got was, at the end of the show when the presenter was like "oh there's some hockey game on - I think it's like 2-0 or something"

It was better tonight. And it was on NOS as well as another option.
It wasn't a great game thought to be fair...

Actually it was a good game, atleast the first two periods. Third was too one sided, but still exciting to watch. But darn am i happy for the 2-0 win. This proves we can go far in this tournament, and also the fact that Canada isn't as godlike as people seem to think.

The buzz this morning as the Swiss Team plays Italy is that the Swedish coaches have told people they might "do things differently" in their game tonight with Slovakia which is basically to determine the winner of Pool B in order to get themselves matched up with Switzerland instead of the Czechs or Canada in their first game. :bs:

Yeah, they're pretty smart to tell the press that.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the NBC olympic site, at least from the ESPN site links? My web page crashes whenever I try to view the standings...

I've got the digital stuff from the BBC so can watch most of the games from the main arena. Can't say there has been a standout team so far, the best 8 are through and only know does it start to matter.

Huge games today, Canada-Russia is a beauty of a game to get so early, but all the games are worth watching. :joy:

There is a late programme on BBC 2 tonight- I think 11.20pm? that should covet todays hockey games.

BBC Digital and Eurosport cover the hockey for anyone in the UK with satellite/cable. Otherwise your stuck with the BBC highlights until the semis (IIRC) onwards which has all games live.

I feel sorry for you guys for not being able to watch the games live without putting any effort into it to actually get the game showing in somewhere. We're lucky enough to have hockey as the most popular sports, so we're sure to get all the interesting action provided from the olympics by YLE, the BBC of finland.

As for the games, i'd bet on teams such as Finland, Russia, Switzerland (didn't really like swe vs svk, so this is more like who i want to win, not the team that is more likely to :p) and Slovakia. Great matches tonight, enjoy!
