Can't really tell since I never gone that far in EHM but I remember Matthews doing fine in his first seasons. Also if you want your post would make more sense in this thread: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... =17&t=2660

Oh thanks, and well Matthews started well with the Predators his first season, then started to enter bust status. He got it together after his 9th season, (bouncing around a couple of teams and up and down in the AHL) He's now a consistent 50 point player, at the age of 30. Now 50 point seasons isn't exactly insane for a former 2nd overall selection (especially when you put your second 50 point season at the age of 26.)

In my save with the Avalanche he got drafted by Phoenix and scored 50ish pts in his first season then then second one he got near 70 pts. Can't say for Tkachuk though.

Matthews varies from save to save with me but usually he gets AHL time in his first two or three seasons and then as a NHL regular he gets between 60-80 points per season. In my current save game he's with the Coyotes, he played a lot in the AHL his first two seasons and in 2029 he has 801 games played and 657 points. I've seen him bust a couple of times and then retire early. In my last save he was with the Senators his entire career and had a 135 point season at age 30. He followed that with a 131 point season and had three other seasons over 120 points and in that save he had 78 points in his rookie year. I've seen him get over 120 points in a couple of other saves too. The only 125+ point seasons I've ever seen in EHM were from Auston Matthews. I guess it just depends on the save.

Yeah, it's quite interesting, I wonder if it's based on how he's handled with his teams Ie Directly to AHL, or forced into 2nd-1st line minutes on a bad team. Or what have you.

Has anyone ever had McDavid or Eichel become Busts? Currently have McDavid with 1012 points in 970 games and Eichel sitting at 770 points in 968 games. Definitely not busts by any means, but McDavid is clearly putting up more points at a better rate, he's one of the few players I've had put up 100 point seasons in my save.

What's the earliest you guys have qualified for the playoffs?

With the Sens in 2027-28 I just qualified on Feburary 26th. I believe I've qualified slightly sooner than that, though.

I believe it was around game 57-58 in my Cup winning 2020-21 season with the Islanders. Matched the second best regular season record of all time that year

North Bay update 3.0

2017-2018 season is now over and we finally made a huge improvement! The team managed to qualify for the playoffs with a record of 34-25-9 good for the 6th place. I was a bit scared since the team went 0-5 at the start of the season but everything went back in order after the players develop some chemistry. In the playoffs we faced Ottawa in the first round and won the serie 4-1 with 2 OT wins. In the second round we faced Sudbury who's the best team in the league. We managed to win the first two games but it probably hurts their ego because we lost the next four, badly, really badly to lose the serie 2-4.

Top 5 scorers of the team:
Zach Poirier C 20-50=70 (franchise record for a center)
Marcus Davidsson RW 32-23=55 (franchise record for a RW)
Bernard Beukeboom LW 25-29=54
Cam Dineen D 12-35=47 (franchise record for a defenseman)
Justin Lemcke D 10-36=46

I also have two rookies that did very well in their first OHL season:
Etienne McBride D 7-30=37 with a 7.01 avg
Simon-Claude Sonier C 18-18=36 with a 7.24 avg

So the futur looks bright but like usual hockey in the minors is always a big question mark of who's gonna stay and who's not. Beukeboom is ranked #3 in the next draft and I fear that I'll lose him. Davidsson is already drafted and got alot of chances to go higher as well as Poirier. So I could potentially lose my whole first line. I also have 4 coaches to resign that are not interested.... ](*,) so this is definitely going to be interesting! :D

I have had any form of EHM since it first came out pretty much and have only ever played as my Sabres.
This time I decided to use the latest data base and random team to start.
I was given the Edmonton Oilers.

I am currently at the end of November year 1.

I am sitting 5th in the West with a record of 13-10-2. I lead the west with 83 Goals scored and sit 2nd in the west on the PP at 24.4%.

My top 5 scorers so far are.

5) Korpikoski - 13 Points (6 Goals)
4) McDavid - 15 Points (4 Goals) (McDavid has also been injured for the last 10 games with an ankle injury, he is going to be back in my lineup next game thankfully.)
3) Purcell - 16 Points (5 Goals)
2) Hopkins - 24 Points (4 Goals)
1) Eberle - 33 Points (16 Goals) (Eberle is also 1st in the league in scoring, Malkin is 2nd with 27)

I have only made 3 trades, very hard to trade with this team.

The rights to Roman Horak to the Ranges for a 2nd+3rd in 2016.
Mark Leteste to the Islanders for a 2nd in 2017.
Ben Scrivens to the Kings for a 3rd in 2016.

Very happy with where I sit so far. Yakupov is catching fire he is at 12 points and has 10 points over his last 8 games.
I mixed up the lines in hopes it would help him.

My top 2 lines are as follows.

Yakupov - McDavid - Eberle
Slepshev - Hopkins - Pouliot

Need D and a true number 1. Hard to say if I will be-able to get it this season but it is one of my goals.

North Bay 4.0

Well, like I expected, all my stars left for the NHL/AHL. ](*,) So it's almost back to case number 1 for me. Luckily my top player, Beukeboom, was drafted second overall in the NHL draft but they didn't signed him so there's that.

Current line-up:

Beaukeboom-Sonier-Huber
Reid-Kislinger-Davis
Shearer-Mann-Shea
Shearer-Potts-Calvas

Grenier-McBride
Gelinas-Lyle
Cohen-Samson

Wells
Wright

All the players that are highlighted in black are rookies.....So my defense is basically torn apart right now. I doubt this is going to be a good year and I hope I won't get fired because of that! :D At least my players are having success after being drafted! I also have too many overage players so I need to trade to get at least a younger player.

Got to the 2004 draft using the 98-99 DB as the Columbus Blue Jackets, and had the 10th overall pick. Florida was picking 1st, and I thought for sure Ovechkin or Malkin would be going 1st overall. Nope. Florida took Brandon Dubinsky 1st overall... and then Ovechkin made it to me at 10th.

Just thought that was quite funny.

Just started a new save with the Devils, and went into the editor making everyone a free agent. Got my staff sorted, but I'm having absolutely no luck signing any of the good U-23 talent. They've all rejected my 7 year deals at more money than they were asking for, and some have even opted to take much smaller deals to play in the juniors. I'm aiming to have a team of under-23 prospects and setting my sights towards developing the kids into world beaters.

It'll be sort of hard to do that when every single one of my targets are opting for Juniors or lower quality European teams instead of an NHL opportunity with me, no?

My Red Wings have just completed a rebuild. its 2036 and we have started the season 9-0-1. My top prospect is Par Strom. He is a 20 year old Swedish Offensive Defenseman coming off a 124 point season for the Saskatoon Blades. He was drafted 61st overall in the 2034 NHL entry draft and played in the world cup before he played an NHL game!

North Bay update

Season's over and we finished at the 6th spot with a 33-30-5 record. The team started the season fairly well but soon enough my young defense started to slow down and we lost so much games because we were losing the lead constently it was ridiculous. I had to move so I traded to get Luke Richardson who's one of the best goalie in the league to help. It did not changed much but at least when we had the lead he was helping keeping it more than my previous goalie.

Offense wise it went pretty good though. Sonier started where he left last season and he improved alot. He's the best scorer of the team and 3rd overall in the OHL. He also smashed Poirer 70 pts franchise record with 79 pts. Also had three guys with 35+ goals.

Team top 5 scorer:
Sonier 38-41=79 7.9
Huber 35-30=65 7.43
Beukeboom 28-34=62 7.97
Shea 35-14-49 7.25
Neibrandt (acquired for Morisson who was my spare overaged player) 20-27=47 7.4

In the first round of the playoffs we're facing Kingston. We went 3-1 against them in the regular season but lost in 6 games after leading 2-0. :-( My top line got shotout with Sonier doing only 3 pts, Beukeboom too and Huber 0 pts. ](*,) Board says it's satisfied with my performance but I'm starting to get a bit nervous. :-p

I'm in season two with my Maple Leafs. Season one we played around 500 hockey for the first half of the season. The second have we went on a nice run and managed to grab a wild card spot. Ended up getting schooled by the Rangers in the first round though. Season two we have been one of the best teams in the NHL lead by our top line of JVR, Matthews and Nylander. Just passed the trade deadline and we are 39-18-4, only 6 points back of PIT for tops in the league. Deadline saw us bring in some depth for hopefully a deep playoff run. We brought in 39 year old Jarome Iginla for a 4th and 5th round pick and Tobias Enstrom for a 2nd rounder.

Current line up looks like this

JVR, Matthews, Nylander
Hertl, Bozak, Kapanen
Michalek, Kadri, Iginla
Komarov, Holland, Leivo

Rielly, Gardiner
Hunwick, Corrado
Enstrom, Wideman

Some notables. Mich Marner is still not good enough to crack the lineup so he was sent back to juniors for the 2nd straight year but should play on the 3rd line for us next year when Iginla likely retires. We picked Tomas Hertl in the offseason of season two as he accepted our offer sheet of 15 mil over 5 years. Cost us a 2nd round pick but I think it was more than worth it. So far he's been average at best but he's still pretty young. Finally unlike real life Fredreik Andersen is actually stopping the puck, having a 2.15 gaa and a 919 save save %. Enroth also has a 919 save % but has a 2.06 gaa in 21 games played this season.

Season 3 with the Maple Leafs. After another first round exit in year two getting swept by the Habs it was apparent in order for us to compete and contend with the the powerhouses in the league we would have to add some pieces to be a legit threat. With our rebuild over and a good core it was time to add those pieces. In the off-season we picked up free agent Kevin Shattenkirk and offer sheeted David Pastrnak. A bit of an over payment for Shattenkirk $8.75 mil per year for 5 years but I felt we would be ok financially and something needed to be done as we desperately needed depth on D. Marner would finally crack our lineup this season and I hoped he could contribute and boy did he ever. In his rookie season he scored 36 goals and put up 65 points running away with the scoring lead among rookies which will likely lead to a Calder trophy win. After a shaky March we finished the regular season with a record of 50-26-6. Good for second in the conference but still 12 points back of the Presidents trophy winning and defending Stanley cup champion Washington Capitals. In the first round we would face the Penguins. After taking a 3 to 1 series lead it looked like it would be our first 2nd round appearance in a long time. And then it happen. Frederik Andersen, out for a week a sprained wrist. With Andersen out for the rest of the series our hopes rested on backup Jonas Enroth. We lose game five 3-0 and game six 4-2. Pens push it to a winner take all game 7 at the ACC. With hopes dwindling we needed someone to step up. And that someone....Leo Komarov!!! A 2 goal performance including the game winner puts the Leafs back in the 2nd round of the playoffs for the first time in 14 years. Round 2 would would see up meet the Montreal Canadiens. A team on paper that seemed to be weaker than the Pittsburgh Penguins so we liked our chances. Game 1, the Leafs hammer the Habs 8-3 lead by Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner both netting 3 points. Game 2 a much tighter game score wise but we out shot the Habs 36-19. Team confidence was at an all time high. However when facing one of the best goalies in the world anything can happen and disaster strikes as the Leafs offence drys up and we manage to only score 3 goals over the next 3 games and all of a sudden we find ourselves down 3 games to 2. With such a promising start the the series once again we allow the team to come back and put us in a tough spot. We headed to game 6 at the bell center feeling the lowest of the lows. Habs had our number last year and it was looking more and more like they would have it again. Once again we needed someone to step up and thankfully rookies sensation Mitch Marner was up to the task as he netted two goals on route to a 5-3 Leafs win. For the second straight series the Leafs would have to win a game 7. Game was tied 2-2 late in the 3rd. Leafs were clearly the better team but Price was keeping the Habs in it. Wideman dishes the puck to Matthews who quickly feeds the puck to Marner. Breakaway..... Marner with the clutch goal. Leafs lead lead game 7 3-2 late. Marner would ice it with an empty netter. That would be 4 goals in two games for him. And the Leafs are headed to the Conference finals vs the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals. Leafs would get bad news as Jake Gardiner would miss the remainder of the playoffs with a broken ankle. We were already in tough vs Washington but without one of our best dmen gone it looked like the end was near. Not only do the Leafs lose game 1 they lose Auston Matthews. Fractured forearm was the diagnoses. He's done for the series. With 14 points in playoff 15 games this year it's going to be nearly impossible for the Leafs to win now. As expected Leafs drop game 2. Its one thing to go out with your best guys in the lineup it's another to see you lose with your best guys missing from the lineup. Game 3 at the ACC. A must win game for the Leafs. Lose and the season is all but over. But as Matthews watches on from the press box the unthinkable happens. The Leafs win 4 straight games and are off to the Stanley Cup finals to take on the St. Louis Blues. There would be bad news as Marner will be suspended for the first 3 games of the series due to an incident vs Washington and Matthews is didn't make the trip to St. Louis so the earliest he could be back will be game 3. Leafs are going to need another miracle in the finals. Can we end that 51 year drought? To be continued.....
