I don't want any big rental trades, this team is going nowhere this season anyway. But there shouldn't be any untouchables if we're talking about trading for a signed Kovi...and I'd rather trade 10 Lucics before I consider trading Rask.
One more thing...I can't stand Dave Lewis behind the bench anymore...what ? He's been gone for years ? Didn't notice.

I don't want to see them trade Lucic. I might not make him untouchable but it would take an awful lot for me to give him up. I'm a little reluctant to see them trade for Kovalchuk. I think signing him would handcuff them. I've read reports saying that Atlanta had offered him a 10 year $85M deal and he turned it down. So how do you incorporate him onto a team with a couple highly paid players already (like Chara to start) without ditching most of your depth? You're forced to become a 1 line team. That's not working out so well for Atlanta.

I also don't want to see the Bruins trade away high 1st round picks for a rental. This upcoming draft is supposed to be a good one and they're in position to grab a great player or two. I've also been hearing talk about them trading for Ray Whitney. I can't imagine why. He just seems like the same type of player they already have. That would be a waste of resources in my opinion.

I've read a really stupid rumor about Laraque been approach by some Swedish team. Is this a bad joke?? What will a 5 km/h skater will do in the swedish league........non-sense.

That's strange... I think that KHL's Vityaz Chekhov would have been perfect team for him There plays many enforcers, for example Darcy Verot and Chris Simon, and Chekhov is known about that KHL game, where everybody fought against opposite players, match cancelled cause everybody player get game misconduct. Lasse Kukkonen was only one who didn't get game misconduct for fighting.

Not the fastest, not the strongest, but man these guys have skill, and boy are they smart.

There was some talk a couple days ago about the Bruins making a deal soon and the Oilers were brought up as a trading partner. I guess the Oilers GM recently said something about six of his players being available, one of them was Visnovsky. Who knows how much truth there really is to it though. We won't know if it's legit until something happens.

Souray, Visnovsky, Moreau all available in Edmonton. But Souray will only go to a team of his choice with the No Trade Clause. Would not be shocked to see about 10 other Oilers on that available list either.

Basically, Edmonton is saying "Screw it, we need to blow this up and rebuild".

Yes they were talking about this team, still, i found this weird.

Really, every professional player, even minor league players gets money for their games.

Think the situatio: If i play in Suomi-Division with 1000€/year, i will be proud about that by saying that i earn more than player, who has experience for about 700 NHL-games.

Ilkka Pikkarainen left New Jersey and NHL. He goes to KHL's CSKA Moscow.

He said he'll play for living expenses and he would still get payed by the Habs. Won't happen though as the Canadiens don't want to waive him(they are afraid someone will pick him up, I guess)

The Thrashers will never take Ryder and Wideman for Kovalchuk! Give them TO's pick. Kovy's worth it. You'll find another way of shedding salary. Ditch Thomas, start Rask. There's a load saved already. I think Lucic is overpayed too.

Lucic is overpaid but I don't want to get rid of him. I wouldn't expect the Thrashers to take just Ryder and Wideman for Kovalchuk. Maybe throw in Hamill and the Bruins' 1st round pick (not Toronto's!).

I wouldn't give up Toronto's 1st in return for Kovalchuk. The player they take with that 1st will most likely be a star and they'll have his rights for a while. Kovalchuk is just a rental at this point. Atlanta won't let any of the suitors talk contract extension with him and his agent.

Nylander will play in Jokerit this season. Washington let him go abroad, but didn't wanted to trade him within NHL.

Petr Sykora was paid out by Minnesota to free $613.471 under cap.

I'm sure Washington would have been willing to trade Nylander to another team in the NHL. I'm guessing there were no takers.

How was Minnesota able to buy out Sykora? I thought there was a window of time in the off-season where that was allowed but not during the regular season? As far as I knew, they were just allowed to waive him and send him to the minors to free up Cap space.

They agreed on it. Maybe that's the difference.

I don't know. It doesn't sound right to me though.
