I was really hoping there were another goalie involved in the trade of Giguere because i was beginning to worried about the fact that Burke is grabing every goalie available. Now that Toskala is in that trade, i feel better, though, the Leafs lost all the small attack they have in Stajan and Hagman, things are gonna get worst for the rest of the season....just to finish last then pick Hall at the draft.

philou21...Hall will not be joining the Leafs, as the 1st rounders they gave to Boston for Kessel pretty much prevent that from happening, unless Burke gets creative and re-acquires another high 1st rounder for this year...

Wow, that Phaneuf deal is very EHMish :-D Oh boy, Burke sure has balls...

Even in EHM that trade wouldn't pass. :-D

I love what Burke did today. The Leafs get a 24 year old potential franchise defenseman, a guy who could be a good #1 goalie for then and the finally get rid of Jason Blake's terrible contract, all without giving up any picks or prospects.

Their offense is going to struggle ALOT in the short term, but it should be fine in the long term with guys like Kadri, Stalberg, Hayes, Stefanovich and Bozak. Also, Kaberle will almost certainly be traded before next season so they can use him to get a good forward to play with Kessel.

These trades are all the motivation I need to start up a new game of EHM :)

And now reports say that Jokinen and Prust to Rangers for Higgins and Kotalik. It seems that Calgary is picking up trash from all across the league. Seriously, they gave up two players of high quality and not got a single prospect or pick in return.

I am really looking forward what can Jokinen do with Gaborik, since #1 center is what Rangers have really missed this season. Jokinen might not be the best around, but...we'll see how things work out.

Oh boy, I love this part of season, gimme more trades, gimme more... :-D

Really good trade by Burke and the Leafs, their future looks bright, but only time will tell how it's gonna turn out.

And if the trade between Rangers and Flames is true it looks good for the Rangers as well, maybe not in the future but in short term.

As i said earlier, i've heard rumor about the Flames are very interested in land Kovalchuk at Calgary, they clean a couple millions with both trades.

But the leafs still suck...

I don't know wat Flames are doing: first trade Phaneuf for Hagman and Stajan and then they're going to trade OJ to Rangers. OJ and Hagman would have been good linemates, they have played well together in U20 and they're good friends. :-?

Calgary is in big trouble if they trade OJ for Kotalik.

I've just checked the numbers of the players involved in Calgarys deals. Calgary have only shed $0.75 million of cap space, which gives them $2 million of space overall. Now I really don't know what they're doing.

They have much better depth with the deals they have made and the contracts are now spread out much more evenly. Rather than having all their money spent on Jokinen and Phaneuf.

The trade with the Flames and the Rangers is still not concluded. The Flames want to wait, before making the deal. :dunno:

It might fall through because kotalik has a limited no-trade clause.

Maybe....but it's more the problem of the Rangers not the Flames.

Oh and Getz...they may have not what it takes on the cap to land Kovalchuk but if they make a trade they will dump some salary too, so i think it should work. Plus Kovalchuk got 6 million or 5.5 a year? This far in the season they just need to pay 2 or 2.5 millions that left.

Kind of starting a new little disscusion, but being huge fan of the sens. What do you think they should do at the trade deadline? They've won 9 straight! I think they should get Kaberle from the leafs (if he waves his no trade clause) because there powerplay desperatly needs help.

Rangers-Flames deal not done.

As for the Sens..they should do nothing at the deadline except trade away star players for prospects/picks. Because we all know they go out first round anyway.

I think the sens are more than capable to make it past the first round. They went to the Stanley Cup finals in 2007.

Not....going...to....happen. 1st round bye bye from Washington or Pittsburgh. Brian Elliot is hot...for the moment. Won't stay hot, and Leclaire and that other Brodeur are horrible.

they are goin to finish 3rd, cause buffalo will falter when miller gets tired from the oylimpics and make it to the conference finals at least.
