North American pro leagues are updated. Working on Major Junior.
There are three spots open for bothe the WHL and the QMJHL. Shall we use future teams or shall I move up teams from Junior A. leagues so we have teams with real players?

EDIT: Major Junior leagues works as well (i have future teams for now)

I noticed two players were assigned by their NHL teams to junior teams that isn't active. I moved them.

Owen Sound Platers is in, not the Attack.
Sherbrooke Castors is in, not the Beavers

I'm not a person to make that call or have an opinion. Nino or Archi who knows more about it can tell you what they think. :-)

My two cents...I think future teams are fine, especially at this point in development (i.e. when the NHL/AHL/ECHL and all the existing WHL/OHL/QMJHL players are in place with "filled in shells" then Junior A could be considered if desired...personally I'm OK with future teams)

QSPHL, USHL, NAHL, CCHA, ECAC, HE, WCHA, AJHL, BCHL, CJAHL, MJHL, MJAHL, NOJHL, OPJHL, QJAHL, SJHL, MWJBL and AWHL all updated.
Midget and bantam could use an update, too, but I am heading over to check the European Leagues(probably already done but I'll look anyway)

:notworthy:

I don't know whether CJ did anything, but I didn't touch the Euro leagues except for the UK (I added all of the defunct UK teams and set up a basic UK junior system too).

Swiss NLA and NLB
Swedish Elitserien, Allsvenskan, Division I and J20 SuperElit
Russian Superleague

all done

EDIT:
Russian Vysshaya League
Czech Tipsport Extraliga and First Division
Slovenska T-Com Extraliga and Slovakian First division
Deutsche Eishockey Liga and 2. Bundesliga
Austrian Erste Bank Liga and Austrian Nationalliga
Norwegian UPC-Ligaen and First Division
Danish Oddset Ligaen and First division
Italian Serie A
French Magnus League

all done.

I'll leave the Finnish leagues to CJ as I do not know how the leagues were set up in 98, other than the SM-liiga
Unfortunately I haven't found much info on European unior leagues so I left them as they were (other than the Swedish one)
Tomorrow I'll set up the NHL-affiliations and then I'll send the db

As I am working on affiliations, I thought about the fact that some players signed by NHL-teams needs to be moved to the new affiliation. Shall I do this, or is anyone else thinking about where players get assigned in the db? I can do it, otherwise

That's awesome! What exactly have you done to all those leagues? (Right player in right team?)
I don't know anymore than you do of those minor leagues in Finland at that time. Only SM-Liiga. :-D

Well as some teams has gotten new affiliations, they need some new players right. So yes, if you wanna move some players over there that's great!

No, I have only moved the teams to the correct leagues and moved away teams that should not be there. Also made sure the team names are correct for that time
I'll take a look at Finland, then

Sorry for the double post but here is how I've set up the affiliations.

All NHL teams have been given AHL-affiliates. Six are sharing.
All NHL teams have been given ECHL-affiliates. Those that share AHL-affiliates gets an ECHL-affiliate of their own. Ten teams are sharing.
One of the shared ECHL-affiliates/team has a limited affiliation. 1 goalie, 4 skaters.
The teams with limited ECHL-affiliations gets another affiliate in either the CHL or the UHL.

I had to move some affiliations around but most teams have the same ones as they did in 1998-99

There were less teams in SM-liiga back at the time. But the teams that are there now (in 1998db) are the "correct" ones. So you don't have to move any of them.

I think Lazion did them back when he was making the db. I found info on I-divisioona in 98 and he has those teams in Mestis

Yeah I think he did those. Maybe they are "future" Mestis teams, so they might as well be there.

archibalduk wrote:I have finished importing the Canadian Major Junior players. I think there were around 1,400 - 1,500 new players. It was a lot of work and so I haven't bothered changing which teams are in which leagues - so some players will be on rosters that are currently defunct. There were a couple of players who I've put on other rosters because they only joined the CHL midway through the season (e.g. one player started at Detroit Compuware in the NAHL and so I've put him on that roster).

The rosters consist of every player who played on that roster during the season. For players who played on more than one CHL roster that season, I've put him on the roster he started the season with. However, I'm sure there must be plenty of players who started in non-CHL leagues and so this will need to be checked (the career history on Elite Prospects is really useful for checking this because it lists entries in chronological order - i.e. the first team listed in a season is the player's starting team for that season).

I have set some provisional positions for the players. I will upload a spreadsheet of players for whom I didn't have stick-side data (I had to randomly assign these). The positional ratings will need more work. I haven't set positions for defencemen (because no doubt many left stick-sided players played RD given the relative minority of right stick-sided players in NA). Thus these players are randomised in game and you'll find most CHL teams have very few defencemen (the game seems to insist on making them forwards). You can see which players need their positions finalised because they will have a zero in one or more positions. Again, I will provide a spreadsheet with more details on this.

I'll start looking into the AHL, CHL, ECHL and UHL shortly.

On another note, I have modified the EHM exe so that we can have a separate 'pictures' folder for the 1998DB. This means we can keep the logos, rinks, facepacks, etc for the 1998DB separate from the modern pics. You'll see in the screenshot below I have a 'pics1998' folder which will store all of the 1998 pics. Also, the modified exe is called ehm1998db.exe which sits alongside the usual ehm2007.exe. It seems the game doesn't mind what it's called. Thus we can have separate exes and pictures folders running alongside each other.

Image

I am also going to modify the exe so that we can remove the foreigner restriction for the British ISL because the league didn't have one (and there were very few British players in the league).

Given all that all/most people use the digital download version of the game, I'd be very tempted to rename the hardcoded league names as and when needed. I'm also wondering whether it is possible to implement the CSD Patch into the exe... :-k
where do we put the startup.png file also as far as flags, intro, and rinks from the normal pictures directory do we just copy that into the 1998 database.. where does the news directory go...

my other question is i know the roster was set for 2006 and such but instead of me going through every single player in the database is there a way to put all of the players on their real birthday since the csb patch worked for the lunch and was going to go back to 1998..

Yes. You can edit the DB using the EHM 2007 Updater. It has a date adjustment tool which will adjust the years for you.

Here's the link: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 54#p157635

You will see in the download file that there is a readme.pdf file. This explains exactly how to use it. Just look in the correct section of the readme.

Where have you seen instructions in the DB or a facepack/logopack saying that files must be put in a separate directory? As far as I'm aware, the 1998pics folder is just something we've discussed as a possibility and not something that is any installation instructions.
