All my games before this one was somewhat realistic, but now it's really ridiculous.
I'm currently sitting 1st in the league with an amazing record: 35-8-2 (The leafs first in the league.. what the!)
Now where it's even more ridiculous:
These guys have ridiculous stats (they are not exact per say, I'm rounding them up) :
Kessel ( 45 goals, 45 assists)
St.Louis (40 goals, 45 assists)
Bozak (15 goals, 60 assists)
Nyquist (30goals, 30 assists)
Fowler (10 goals, 45 assists)
Phaneuf (5 goals, 35 assists)
JVR (20 goals, 20 assists)
But how is that possible!? Until a few games ago, Kessel was on pace to beat Gretzky's record for most goal in a season.
And for the most part of the season, I had 3 guys scoring 2 points per games. Half of my team has a average game rating over 8.00.
My team is by far 1st in the league for the most goals scored. (By at least 60!)
I am scoring 5+ goals per games (often winning 8 -0, 7-0, etc.)
I'm like happy and somewhat disappointed at the same time
Isn't that unrealistic?
What could be the cause of this non-sens?
HOW I got there..
Anyway, this was the first time I was really going to dive into all the micro stuffs. So I started by firing all the coaches and all the scouts (except 2 or 3 that had decent judging player ability and potential skill)
COACHES + PRACTICES
Head Coach: Tortorella (LOL.. deep down, I was hoping to make the team crash even more!),
Assistant Coach: Gretzky
Assistant Coach: Dan Bylsma
Assistant Coach: I'm currently forgetting his name but he has 20 coaching defense and really good (17+) in many other important areas
Goalie Coach: Tom Barrasso
Made a few practices scenarios (all with Intensive/Medium)...
TRADES (Only the first tree were made at the beginning of the year
-Lupul VS St.Louis
-Rielly VS Fowler
-Leivo + 3rd VS Nyquist
-Matt Greene (picked off waivers)
-3rd + 4th VS McClement
-Percy + 4th VS Vatanen
-4th + Nylander VS 3rd + Toffoli (Sad to let go my best offensive prospect, but could I resist that trade! God no!)
-Horton VS Pearson (needed to get rid of that big salary!)
I also landed a bunch of 2nd rounders while offloading a bunch of guys that didn't have any place in my lineup (Robidas, Brewer to name two..)
LINES + TACTICS
Kessel - Kadri - St.Louis
JVR - Bozak - Nyquist
Lindstrom - McClement - Komarov (now replaced with Toffoli)
Booth - Sill - Panik
Fowler - Phaneuf
Gardiner - Vatanen
Erixon - Greene/Polak
I've then spend a little while tweaking all my units:
Having two really offensive lines and two defensive one.
And individual players. (Making sure St.Louis makes ambitious passes, making sure JVR, Nyquist, Kessel shoots a lot!) I also made sure all defensemen were making safe passes, except for Fowler.
It seems we have a lot in common!
Many of the same players, Gretzky got fired by the board, but we won the cup.
I added Ryan O'Reilly through offersheet and he JVR and Kessel are killing it so far.

I have simmed out to 2035 to see how the league shapes up(and the game handles it) Arizona became a dynasty in the late 2020s on the back of McDavid and three elite forwards(iirc) that were late 1sts and late 2nd round picks. There are quite a few late round gems and 1st round busts(couple Top 5s busted HARD) I'll post more about this later when I'm home.
Off the top of my head
Definitely high scoring right now. Teams are scoring 300+ goals(based on season leader tab) and high scoring games are aplenty on the game records(11-2, 9-8, etc.) Prior goalie records(i.e Brodeur career wins) are not in the 7.3 DB.

Is there a way to control your AHL team's lineup?
I can view their roster, but cannot set the lines, which can be frustrating, because there's a couple guys on my AHL team that I'd like to be getting top line minutes, but they're playing on the 4th line.
Thanks!
Add a new manager and take control of your AHL team. I always play that way and controls the AHL & even the ECHL team along with the NHL team. I don't like the coaching of the AI and you can sign players you are intrested in with those teams to on try-out basis or to contracts and if they are good in the minors you can sign them with the NHL team. Doing it this way you don't have to use a useful spot of the 50's you only got for players in the NHL.
Don't forget, doing this can also allow you to Hire a coaching staff you think can actually help in development of your farm players. I second this strat... I do it aswell. It's situations like this that are actually rectified IRL by doing exactly what we have done. The Leafs for example, own the marlies, and in turn hire an fire whoever they want. Check out marlies.ca and you'll see Dave Nonis' Assistant GM Kyle Dubas is listed as Marlies General Manager.

Cap not changing won't be a problem as long as the salary demands by the players dont go up after x years...

That's some very solid numbers. Did you use any of the preset tactics or you edited according to your players strength?

Quite a few 4th Rounders turned out to be pretty solid players. Couple 5th rounders turn into NHL players and I've found a few 6th/7th rounders.
Just a few screenshots
Smolnikov - 3rd Round Kazakhstan Player
Platzer - 4th Rounders
Nuutinen - 4th Round Pick
Sundberg - 4th Round
Vinogradov - 6th Round Pick
Sandstrom - 6th Round Pick
So it can happen. I think the 7th rounder was the Pens back up goalie.

Off to a solid 5-0-1 start with the Flames so far. Backlund, Bouma, and Jones have played really well while Monahan, Johnny Hockey, and Hudler have started to play better. Like the real life Flames, they don't seem to quit. They've battled back to beat Columbus and lost to the Blues in a shootout despite being dominated. Brodie has been awesome. Too bad Giordano's hurt in the rosters. I'll need to worry about drafting some defensive prospects at the draft.
Only blemishes so far are injuries to Wideman and Raymond.

For me, in 4 different career, he consistently scored more than 40 goals for the 2014-2015 season.

I'm 33 games into my first season with the Canucks, 19-9-5 so far after a 1-4-3 start so doing pretty well. Daniel Sedin's my top scorer with 23G +21A for 44Pts but most of the players who've been on my top line have done well. I lost Burrows on waivers though, not terrible at the time because he was playing awfully but it was a bit inconvenient when both St. Louis and Henrik Sedin were out injured. Also, I traded Eddie Lack straight up for Devan Dubnyk because Lack was just playing awfully and Dubnyk's doing pretty well (not as good as in real life but still pretty well at 6-3-2).

I used the same up tempo attacking tactics I used in the 07 version. Seems to suit Tampa very well with all their speedy forwards. I'm surprised by Bishop's numbers as usually goalies don't do so well on my teams. He developed pretty well during the season though. I used the following lineup for much of the season:
Jonathan Drouin - Steven Stamkos - Ryan Callahan
Onrej Palat - Tyler Johnson - Nikita Kucherov
Alex Killorn - Valtteri Filppula - J.T. Brown
Brendan Morrow - Brian Boyle - Carter Ashton/Michael Blunden
Victor Hedman - Anton Strålman
Braydon Coburn - Jason Garrison
Matt Carle - Mark Barberio
Ben Bishop
Andrei Vasilevsky
The third and fourth lines were more defensively orientated and did a great job of shutting down oppositions best players during the playoffs. For example Ovechkin didn't score any goals and only one assist in the first round series.

Good job on keeping the core of the team together.. this is something I'm afraid I cannot do.
I need to go in

I was thinking about getting a top 4 D at the deadline but didn't see a good fit at reasonable price so went with the group I had and it turns out I didn't need another defenseman. Only trade I made was acquiring Adam Larsson for Andrej Sustr. I'm keeping about the same roster for season two aside from letting Morrow go. Might trade Carle for picks and prospects and give Koekkoek, Nesterov or Larsson a chance. Nesterov stepped into the lineup in the playoffs and played really well scoring 3+2 in 17 games on the third pair after Coburn got injured.

I'm now 2 games after the trade deadline with the Canucks, 43-15-5 good enough for 2nd in the conference, 3 points behind St. Louis but with a game in hand. I made two substantial trades at the deadline, bringing in Sean Couturier to be my new 2nd line centre because Bonino wasn't cutting it and I also brought in Dustin Byfuglien to ramp up my D ahead of a Cup Run.
Here are the deals:
1st Trade:
Vancouver trades:
Will Acton
Ronalds Kenins
Rights to Cole Cassels
Canucks 1st Round Pick in 2019
Canucks 2nd Round Pick in 2016
Canucks 2nd Round Pick in 2018
Canucks 3rd Round Pick in 2019
in exchange for Philadelphia Flyers':
Sean Couturier
2nd Trade:
Vancouver Trades:
Nick Bonino
Joacim Ericsson
in exchange for Winnipeg Jets':
Dustin Byfuglien
Going to make a couple of trades in the summer to sort some of my draft pick issues before the value of the picks skyrocket!

Hi guys. I want to start a career with a team with low expectations, so it could be more easier to get to know the game and the players, without the pressure of good results, but also a team with a lot of youngsters so they can develop with time. Any ideias??

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but has anyone noticed that when you start a game the coaches stats change? One save they had Jon Cooper with like 10 for coaching fowards and then in the next new game they had it up to 16. Does anyone know why this is?
