In my current game with the Boston Bruins (using the TBL Roster Updates), I'm in February of 2008 and I was able to trade Milan Lucic for Carey Price. Lucic never turns out to be anything in EHM, so this was a steal!
I was also able to bring Hannu Toivonen back to the Bruins. Mark Stuart had been playing with the team since the start of the game. His 07-08 season wasn't going as well as his 06-07 season had. He was getting some pressure from the press (and I was defending him). He demanded a trade because he wanted to get away from it. I was able to send him to St Louis straight up for Toivonen.

From all points of view that's one of the best trades there, IMHO! ... offseason, I guess???

my two best trades for my team (not the best trades anyone has made, but helped my Yotes a lot) have been
Jovanovski and a 2010 3rd rounder for Lecavalier (09/16/06)
a 7th round 2011 pick for Richard Matvichuk (9/10/06)
i list the Matvichuk as one of my best just in terms of the how good he has been more my team the past two years.

Couple from my current save. Braydon Coburn and Kyle Wanvig for Michal Handzus is the only huge one, but. Marc Staal for Chad Denny and Arturs Kulda. Pandolfo for Pavelec (in my experience, his stats vary a lot, so I'll just say this time he stunk completely.) And my favorite, just because it freed me from paying him 2 million, Andy Sutton for a second round pick.

since you can't edit after 15 minuts of posting i'll post another trade here, in the 2009 off-season
Coyotes get: rights to Ryan Getzlaf
Ducks get: rights to Adam Hughesman(projected 3rd line prospect)

Off-season deals are way to easy and should easily turn to be huge steals. It's a well-known weakness of the AI, so this Getzlaf deal doesn't really count
The previous two trades mentionned... I like the Morris one, as i'm not a big fan of Zidlicky and always had good things out of Morris. For the Emery deal, i can't decide... Sure, you need a better goalie than Mason, but is Emery the real answer? Does he worth a 1st and a 2nd pick? I never had Emery, so i can't make my mind on this one...

As the Columbus Blue Jackets I made a trade within one week of starting a new game with them. For me it's a great trade considering I gave up a two over-payed, over-the-hill, self-serving blood suckers, an oft-injured goalie, and two role players and got a fantastic play-making center, 2 young players with a huge upside, and not a huge immediate downgrade (at least in EHM) in net.
I traded:
Sergei Fedorov
Adam Foote
Jody Shelley
Pascal LeClaire
Kris Beech
'08 3rd round
'11 2nd round
I got:
Vincent LeCavalier
Paul Ranger
Kari Rammo
Johan Holmquist
I later traded away Mike Peca to Washington for Tom Poti and '07 3rd round pick - made out like a bandit in this one.
Then I got PJ Axelsson from Boston for an '07 5th round
Not a bad couple weeks work in my opinion

I think you are letting RL cloud your EHM judgement. In my CBJ game I too dumped Fedorov (+ Berard & an older euro prospect) to the Caps for Sutherby & Clymer. In game Feds is a great 2nd liner, but not for $6 mil. Paired with Ovechkin, he had 22G & 64P. Not bad for a 2nd line guy. Overpaid, yes. Over-the-hill Blood-sucker, not quite.
Foote is a very capable 4th defenseman who can play on the top pair and a great leader. He is a top-notch shut-down guy, just don't match him against wingers with 99 speed. For the most part his great checking & positioning counter his lack of speed. When I ran into trouble with Foote was towards the trade deadline when I made a deal for Brendan Witt followed by an unexpected deal for Rafalski. I didn't want to sit Klesla as I am still trying to develope him into a 3-4 d-man. I shifted Clymer to RW and Foote to the 6th defenseman slot.
Leclaire is a very solid backup/respectable starter who can be had for less than $1 mil for a couple of years. I haven't had any injury problems with him at all.
Vinnie is a great addition and you dumped a bad contract in Fedorov, but I would have kept Foote & Leclaire.

What about Beech? Any time I've used him as a second line C he produces huge. 60-80 pts. 8.00+avr

I can't comment on Beech as I don't use updated rosters so I didn't have him in my CBJ game. My guess would be on who his linemates were. He seems to have good speed, and passing with slightly above average creativity, but with good stickhandling & wrister. Hook him up with a top level finisher like Nash and he'll probably put up lots of helpers. Put him with a playmaking winger like Zherdev and he'll score probably 25+ goals. In my CBJ game he is still a spare part for Washington. In 06-07 he played 79 games with 5G & 19P, but has only played 34 (out of 60, no injuries), but has put up better numbers with 2G & 21P.
Putting up 60-80 points is probably due to linemates more than individual skill. My 12 year-old could put up 60 points playing on a line with Crosby & Malkin or Ovechkin & Semin or Nash & Zherdev, etc.

Played with Trent Hunter and Jiri Novotny. All ended up within ten points of one another. Top Line was Nash/Feds/Zherdev.

Ok so this is not a trade but...I picked up Nittymakki on waivers.
Also I traded the rights to two prospects and a 3rd rounder in 09 for Nashville's 1st Rounder (#1 overall) in 2009 and Drafted Tavares. The two prospects played only a handful of games in the NHL>

I'm playing as St. Louis and the first thing i did was trade Rucinsky, McClement, and Mike Johnson to Tampa for Lecavalier. Didn't think it would work, but whatta ya know!!
Not too many other notable ones... My personal favorite so far was done recently... first traded Paul Kariya in the last year of his contract to Dallas for Loui Eriksson and young D guy with 1-2 potential Michael Sauer. Already had Tkachuk and Christov so Loui played 3rd line and Sauer in Peoria. Now the fun... 5 moinths later i see Alex Semin is unhappy at Washington so i try to get him.
To Washington:
Loui Eriksson
To St. Louis
Alex Semin
2010 2nd round draft pick
Not anything to blow your socks off, but i wouldn't think that a straightup player trade would have worked, but to get that 2nd rounder too was phenomonal. Dumped a lot of salary without Kariya and now i have my top 2 LW's set for next year when i get KT off the books too.

I picked up Pronger for 2 decent prospects. While I've probably had more lopsided trades, I think this one really helped me win the Stanley Cup.

I've gotten Ovechkin 2 times. It really just depends on timing. If you have something that they want its usually not that hard and not always all that pricy.

It really is all about timing. If their contract is up at the end of the season, they have rejeced one or several contract offers already, their team is out of the playoff picture and the trade deadline is approaching, that's when Superstars are traded the easiest

Yes, that was a RL comment. In the game Fedorov and Foote are very solid and LeClaire is great. Beech gets very good returns if you shop him around should you decide not to keep him.
I'm talking from my own personal opinion of each of them. LeClaire gets injured if a stiff breeze blows, Fedorov (aka Sam Jones if any of you Wings fans remember what I'm talking about) is completely living off his Hart Trophy season from 15 years ago and hasn't shown up since, and Foote is a cancer to anyone but Colorado (and he's a jerk to boot. I know. My son and his were in the same league the last two seasons and I've had the displeasure of knowing him and his wife. Very stuck up, which is suprising for a hockey player since most of them are genuinely down-to-Earth nice guys).
Anyway, I'm a person that whatever team I'm playing with I ship out players I'm not personally fond of in real life. It doesn't hurt me in the game, and it makes it much more enjoyable if I don't have constantly see a turd on my roster.

Not the best trade but I traded Branko Radibojevic - averages 8 goals with under 7 rating, and Miroslav Kopriva - a ECHL caliber goalie for Samuel Pahlsson (11 goals 43 points 7.51 average rating)

Haven't done a lot of wheeling and dealing in my game, but I did make 1 trade and a couple of waiver pickups to better my Canes team.
I don't have the updated rosters yet, but the deal I made was
Gave up: Letowski, 2007 5th rounder
Got: Vasicek
I've picked up Gaustad and Ortmeyer off waivers as well. My last two lines are pretty strong on speed and defense, but can't really score a ton. Vasicek and Ortmeyer team with Ladd on the third line while Gaustad centers a line of Ibster and Craig Adams. Ladd gets some PP time as a 4th forward as does Gaustad.
