I've merged your topic, Frank, discuss all EHM editing related questions here.

Unfortunately in EHM 2007 you're only allowed a maximum of 16 general managers.

Welcome to TBL :-)

I just tried renaming the Allsvenskan to "HockeyAllsvenkan" and the Swedish Elitserien to just "Elitserien", and I get the error. Then I also get some *.cpp errors as well, which were related to these leagues.

I'm beginning to wonder how D88 managed to rename so much in his TBL DB with no trouble. :-k
Back to this error that is shaking the world of EHM...

I'm having the same problem while trying to rename HPK and Ilves in the Finnish SM-liiga to fit the naming style of other teams in the country, and I too get the index error, then .cpp-error and crash. Had no problem renaming any of the other teams... :-k

What is the most amazing part of this is, as Stins said, that D88 had no problem naming these teams while making his unfaking database, as the original version had them only by their town names for licensing issues. And now I can't change these two for some reason... :-?

yeah, i remember the same troubles with finnish team names.
Original DB name was Ilves T.
In Europe their name is Ilves Tampere so i wanted to change it to that.
But if i did that the index.error appeared. That means he searches for a hardcoded name and Ilves Tampere is not the one.
I tried variatons like Tampere Ilves etc., til i came to eurohockeynet. there they used the (i think) original finnish names.
so Ilves Tampere is called Tampereen Ilves and that worked. that was not a name idea by my side :-p
same with HPK Helsinki (Hämellinan Palo.....).

Ah I see. Thanks for clearing that out D.

I guess it'll have to stay as Tampereen Ilves and Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho. (Not from Helsinki though :-D )

I know its 99.9% positively hardcoded, but does anyone know of any way to modify playoff formats? I'd love to be able to fix the Elitserien Kvalsieren process so that it includes the 4 team playoff for the last spot.

Thanks!

No, it's infact 100% positively hardcoded. :-D

dont have time to/want to peruse this whole thread, but what about adding the Swedish J18 leagues as non-playable?

by Tasku
That can prolly be done. Lazion added multiple Finnish junior leagues to his update.

Also, how modifiable is the early EHM release? Can you do more extensive mods on it?

All EHM's are modifiable. If that is a word. Some things in the game are not. But mods can be done on all EHM games if you have the editors for them and know how. 2007 editor cannot be used for 2005 though, etc. Must be the right editor version.

Quoted from Tasku, Here:

"- Moved Quad City Mallards to their own arena ("Mallards Arena") due to crash that happened while starting a new game, if both teams were playing at The MARK."

Now, my question is this: Will this sharing of home arenas still cause a crash if one or more of the sharing teams is an unplayable team? Because I've been looking to create unplayable reserve and youth leagues, and then using them to replace the AHL and ECHL affiliations with NHL teams. That way, every NHL team could have their own Euro-style setup like: Flyers > Flyers Reserves > Flyers U-20, or something along those lines. And of course, the easiest thing to do would be to have the reserve and youth teams play in the same arena as their parent NHL teams. So, for example, I'd have all three Flyers teams playing at the Wachovia Center... that is, unless this arena sharing crash extends to unplayable teams as well...?

Hmm... hard to say. But my guess would be that the crash comes from the game trying to create schedules for the teams, and then having two teams playing in the same ice hall at the same time.

So, my guess is, not a problem with non-playable teams. Only a guess, though.

In SM-liiga there's two teams that play in the same arena: Ilves and Tappara, and there's no problem there, because both teams have different home dates... :-k

I imagine that it is hard-coded into the game that it needs to take into account specific team setups when creating the schedule. I.e. it knows that Ilves and Tappara cannot play at home at the same time but it doesn't know that it should be done with others. If that makes sense...

Couldn't you just add in more arena's?

Yeah, you can. But the point here was that adding more arenas means more work.

I've been updating the Swedish team's rosters to up to date. I save the DB, but when I start a new game and selects my new DB it hasn't happened anything with the rosters. But when I check in the editor again the changes has been done, so they are changed in the editor, but not in the game. It's the same DB I've been using.

Anyone who can help me? I got Vista if it matters.

Double check the location of your updated rosters. Are they definitely in the right place? Sounds like you're saving them in the wrong place :-?

I got the database in the game folder in C:/program/sports interactive/NHL Eastside Hockey Manager/Data/database. But when I open the editor it says C:/program files instead of C:/program but when I click the "Change database" button it's still the same folder as the game is in. :dunno:

So there isn't actually a database in the C:/Program Files/sports interactive/NHL Eastside Hockey Manager/Data/database? Normally, the Editor remembers where the last edited DB has been saved. Maybe the Editor defaulted to save it there. It might be worth double checking.

Alternatively, move the DB into a sub-folder of the database folder. Load the DB in the Editor to make sure the changes you've made are there. Then start up the game and choose the appropriate DB when it gives you the choice.

I will show you instead.

This is what the editor says:
http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/al ... ic_id=1029

This is how my C: folder looks like:
http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/al ... ic_id=1030

When I check if the database has been edited the changes has been done in the editor, but when I choose the correct database in the game it's no changes there. :dunno:

Your screenshot is from the root of C:, not from C:\program files\sports interactive... etc, etc...

Right? :-k

Exactly, I've tried to change database to C:/program/sports interactive/NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007/data/database/Joehelmer update. But still the editor shows the same phrase as on my screenie. At my parents' place there's no problem editing, then the changes are applied to the game. :-k
