Yeah yeah...if I would have...marsac. A great line from losers worldwide!!! :-D

But seriously, like I said...I did not need the goalies. Wow, All 3 were BRUTAL for me. Luongo looked like Lebongo, Quick as slow as molasses, Toskala tossed his salad 2x. Ick.

But in reality, a late night Shorthanded goal.....by Patrick Marleau is what won me this game! Atta boy PAtty! It came so late it was almost like a bad beat in poker. The freaking River card filled in my royal flush (i needed the queen) against 4 9s already on the board.

:-D

Kicking myself for not puttin in Tavares... who'd have thought he'd outperform Getzlaf on his first game? Ha.

He didn't out perform him... He just outpointed him... :-D

As much as I loved Saturday's Bruins - Hurricanes game, my Bruins killed me on the fantasy hockey front. I have Ward as one of my goalies and his GAA for that day was horrible! And then Cole gets knocked out for 4-6 weeks with an injury from this game.

Trade a Bruin B72. And Stinson I love the new format. I think I might pick up Budaj. He appears better than Luongo right now. Heh same old goaltending frustration for me.

I'm not looking to trade yet.

So...I looked at last weeks boxscores and it shows that CatchUps team vs the Mustangs was 5-5-2. Yet the Mustangs got a win? What is breaking the tie?

Nevermind...found it....it is goals.

That's correct, 'Goals' are the official match-up tie breaker.

What if you're tied there as well?

We hand both GMs a musket, and have a duel. ;)

Honestly, though, I'm not sure. ESPN only shows one level of tie-breaking, which can be any one of the league's scoring categories.

AWESOME! Cannot wait to shoot B72!!! And Stinson...you should have said shootout...much more like hockey that way.

Anyway...if it happens, we can figure it out...maybe ESPN will show a tie if that happens.

So who has a goalie who is doing well that they hate? or hate their team? Send me that goalie so I can put him in my graveyard. Wow that Luongo and his 9.5 GAA so far this week. AWESOME!

I apologise if this has been asked before, but could somebody explain the scores to me? It's different to when I played this style of fantasy hockey on Yahoo.

For example, my current score is:

Kent Mighty Turnips: 6-4-2
Chilliwack Marauders: 4-6-2

What do these three figures mean? Is it the number of times we've won, lost and drawn in each category?

It shows how many categories you are currently leading, losing and tied for in the ongoing matchup. Atleast that's the way I see it. I'm 5-6-1 right now vs the Killers - I lead in assists, +/-, SHG, GWG, and shutouts while we're tied for goals and he is leading the other six categories.

My first trade seems to have worked out great... for the Marauders. Loui scores a goal while Brassard gets dropped from the Nash line.

Marsac is spot-on.

x-x-x as your score in a matchup:

The first number is the number of categories you're leading in. The next number is the number of categories your opponent leads in. The third number is the number of categories you're both tied in.

Personally, I think it's a bit of a redundant way to display it; All they really need is the number of categories each team leads in and display it like a score, like yahoo does, but I guess they wanted to be unique by making it look like a W-L-T record instead.

You can really just look at the first number, 'cause that's all that determines a match-up. So for example, Archi, in your example you are winning that match-up 6-4.

Thanks guys. That confirms what I was assuming. I have to agree; why not post it as a single score? It would make it a little easier to glance at.

The Scoring system is a little different I´d like the "ESPN Head-to-Head-Points". After reading the rules again I discovery that our system is the "Head to Head Most Categories".

I'd like your thougths about that. After all this is a Keeper League and I'm alredy thinking about improvements for the next season.

By the way: The Rules are: Head-to-Head: Points: H2H: points is similar to how fantasy football is played. It allows you to assign a given point value to individual statistical categories (i.e., win = 5, shutout = 3, etc.) and each scoring period's winner is determined solely by which team accumulates the most fantasy points versus a single opponent. The end result is a win (1-0-0), loss (0-1-0) or tie (0-0-1). If selected, your league will have team schedules and playoffs (optional), and you will have the option to set up divisions.

Head-to-Head: Most Categories: H2H: most categories allows you to set "X" number of statistical categories. For each scoring period (usually Monday through Sunday) team totals are accumulated in each of the categories. At the end the scoring period the winner is determined by which team wins the most number of categories. The end result is a win (1-0-0), loss (0-1-0) or tie (0-0-1). These results correspond directly to each team's overall record. If selected, your league will have team schedules and playoffs (optional), and you will have the option to set up divisions.

You are correct, we're using the "most categories" option for Head-to-Head. This option was chosen for our league primarily because it's the common setup for H2H fantasy hockey, and thus, most people are already familiar with it.

Though, I'm always open to suggestions... so is there any particular reason you don't like the "most categories" option? Or any particular reason you'd like to see the "points" style used?

The way I've done it in my other leagues has been a little different than both of these. Say we've got 12 stat categories that we're scoring with. At the end of the week I'm 5-4-3, meaning I've won 5 categories, lost 4, and tied 3. In our current system that would give me a win for the week and a loss for my opponent. I'd get the win and he'd have nothing to show for it, even though it was an extremely close matchup that week. In the way I've played before, I wouldn't take just a straight up win, I would take a 5-4-3 and my opponent would take a 4-5-3 for the week. Then next week's record would be added onto that. It makes it so that you kind of have something to show for a good week that just didn't totally beat out your opponent.

I'm not saying it's better than the way we're currently playing because this is my first time I've played this way (most categories). Plus, the method I'm used to is at Yahoo and I don't even know if it's an option at ESPN. Since we've already started, I don't know if it would be a good idea to change the rules but it could be something to keep in mind for next season if we're not satisfied with how this one worked out.

Sounds like you're referring to the "Head-to-Head: Each Category" format, where the W-L-T style match-up score from each week is used as your team's W-L-T record in the standings. And now that I look at it, it looks like my public Yahoo league is the same way. I thought I remembered Yahoo giving wins and losses for each week, but it looks like that's for football

I'm not sure how possible it will be to change, though. ESPN is really good with freedom of editing settings, but seems to be a bit stubborn with changing scoring formats. My first attempt for this league, I accidentally picked Roto scoring, and couldn't change it - I had to make a new league with the new format (the league we're all in right now). I haven't tried any format changes since then, so maybe it was "fixed" and we can still look into a change for next year. Otherwise, we may have to keep what we have now, or else start a whole new league again.

ESPN's formats, for reference:
Rotisserie: Rotisserie, or "roto," is the most common way to play fantasy hockey. In this scoring type teams are ranked from first to last in each statistical category. Points are then awarded according to the order in each category and totaled to determine an overall score and league rank.

Points-Based: Points-based scoring allows you to assign a given point value to each individual statistical category (i.e., goal = 3, assist = 1, etc.) Standings are based on the accumulation of points covering all statistical categories and combined into one total points column. The team with the most overall points wins.

Head-to-Head: Points: H2H: points is similar to how fantasy football is played.

Head-to-Head: Each Category: H2H: each category is the most common type of head-to-head play in fantasy hockey. It allows you to select "X" number of statistical categories. For each scoring period, team totals are accumulated and a win, loss or tie is credited in each category based on the matchup results (i.e., 6-3-1 in a 10 category league).

If it doesn't let us change next year, I'm sure we can make do with the format we're using. It would be a shame to lose a season in a keeper league just to pick a different scoring format.

Nice. I trade for a player and the first thing he does for me is to get injured. Still, when he(Wideman) comes back I consider him an upgrade over Matt Niskanen.
And I won my first game! Woohoo! Now it's on to some Cherry-picking

My team has been terrible so far! If they don't turn things around, I'll be one of the teams relegated after the season.
