I check it in the preferences, click ok..the game flashes but goes right back to windowed version..I go to preferences and the full screen option is unchecked again? Could i have my resolution too high? i have it set at the recommended 1920x 1080. thanks!
Did you make any changes to your EHM shortcut? E.g. did you add
-small_screen - windowed - this could well prevent you from loading full screened. Try double-clicking from the exe rather than the shortcut.
Also, try setting your resolution to 1024x768 if you can.

Hello!
So, I managed to buy the game today through the eLicensing, but I am struggling with actually getting it to work properly. I downloaded the try & buy from download.com, and it worked fine for a little while, e.g. it started, I could buy the license etc. When I turned it off and updated the game to 3.0.4 it gave me the .dll error, so I downloaded the DLL and then that error was gone, however, still nothing happened when I clicked the .exe. The game itself is run in administrator mode, and I've changed the compatibility to Windows Vista Service Pack 2, but still nothing seems to happen when I start the game. The cursor shows that it is loading, but it stops after a few seconds. Have anyone been through the same problem? I've read through this thread and I see that some have had similar problems, but I see no clear solution to it all.
I'm thankful for any help I can get.

Nothing seems to help, I've uninstalled it now a few times and cleaned the registry, tried all the compatibility modes and it just does not solve the issue. I'll just wait until I get to my other computer, that one has Vista, and it should work properly on that one.

Are you using Windows 7 64-bit? If so, there are two places you must put your dll file.
You shouldn't need to run the game in compatibility mode. It should run okay in Windows 7.
Antivirus and firewalls have been known to stop EHM loading up.

Thank you for your answer.
Yes, I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, and I assume that the two places where I have to put the .dll file in are System32 and SysWOW64, right? If so, I have done that, it didn't work as far as I can see. I'll try to restart the computer and see if that changes anything. I've turned off the compatibility mode, and I've turned off the firewall and my antivirus, so that shouldn't be causing any interference as far as I can see it.

Hmm, that's strange. It still isn't working for some weird reason... I'll leave it for now, but thanks for your help Archibalduk.

When I install the program, and try to run it, AVG keeps telling me that a file as part of the runtime for EHM is a trojan. Anywhere else I can get the program, without using the try and buy? Legally that is.

The Try'n'Buy is the only way to purchase it. AVG may be tripping over it because the Try'n'Buy has to activate the game online and transfer a license. You could probably safely ignore it - but perhaps to be safe you could re-download the demo from a different source; e.g.

Question regarding Windowed mode on Windows 7...
My laptop is set to 1600 x 900 resolution, and I have no problem playing the game either full screen, or windowed. However, the windowed version is a bit too small and I would like to increase the window size to get it as close as possible to full screen, without having to play full screen (I like switching back and forth between my Excel salary cap plan, especially in the off-season). I have no idea how to do this, and can't figure it out from the existing material in this thread.
Any help is appreciated... thanks.

You can't make the window any larger per se. However if you reduce your screen's resolution (e.g. 1280 x 800) then it will make the window appear larger on your screen.

Hi, when I try launching the game under Windows 7, 64 bits, I get an "NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007 has stopped working" error. So far I tried no installing the patch, installing in a different folder, running under various compatibility modes, and shutting down Zone Alarm Extreme Security, and giving all possible permissions to the program beforehand. Also tried running as administrator. Running the game under legacy systems like Windows 98 gives me the following error: "Sorry could not get a license at this time. Please try running the program later. 230"

Oddly enough, when I used a cracked .exe that I found on GameCopyWorld, the game works fine. It even does not give a prompt saying that there's no license or whatever.
I tried removing the license and re-registering the game, but to no avail. However, it seems related to the "check," as the crack works fine. However, I want to use the 2011-2012 start date patch with it... so I need the real executable.
Does eLicense use another service for verifying that the copy is legit? Maybe it's being disallowed by Zone Alarm/UAC.

Nobody here will be able to tell you much. Likely the cracked version on your computer...AKA pirated version is messing you up in your attempt to use the CSD. I hope so. Not going to get any sympathy here. Probably not any advice either. Cracked is pirated. Don't care when you got it.
People like you are the reason this game died. Now...you want to become legit, but you can't use the things archi and others worked so hard on to make those who bought the game instead of stealing it....ahhhh poor baby.
I hope that it does not work for you ever quite frankly.

What the hell are you talking about? I have a valid license. I tried the crack to SEE if it would work, because it bypasses the copy protection, and it seems to be the thing that's preventing the game from launching.

Referring to the use of an illegal crack version in any way isn't going to go over well on this site...

Try uninstalling and unlicensing the game.
Then install the try'n'buy demo (and nothing else). Completely disable your Zone Alarm (it is known to cause difficulties with the game). Don't license the game and don't install any patches yet - just try running it as the demo at first. Try running it both with the 'Run as Admin' setting and without. There shouldn't be any need for any other compatibility settings.
It works fine on my Windows 7 64-bit and so the error must be specific to your system setup.
You may also want to check whether the DLL file detailed in this post is in the correct places on your computer:

In all fairness, I know from a previous PM from Matt that he has resorted to the crack as the his legit purchased copy of the game doesn't work (hence I asked him to post his problem here as I wouldn't provide support on how to use the CSD Patch with the cracked copy). Hopefully we can get his legit copy working because nobody here tolerates the cracked version.

SOrry archi....As you know I have no tolerance for cracked/pirated versions and people who try them. NO grey areas with me as you know. I honestly cannot say I hope it works for him, but your comments make me less hopeful it does not, and more apathetic towards the thought it does.

I have done all of this, yet when I try to start the game now without a license, I cant play the demo. Does anyone have a clue on how to fix that?

Zone Alarm is a big cause of problems with EHM. If you're struggling to get EHM to work, you may wish to uninstall Zone Alarm and switch to another anti virus scanner.
