Great. I'd love that to happen. Underachieving Bruins finish 6th and then sweep the Sens... then get blown out by Caps or Pens in the 2nd.

Bruins wont even make the playoffs, the sens will face the leafs......i mean philly. The sens have recently beaten the pens, devils and blackhawks.

Again...not...going...to happen. 7th, 8th or even 9th or 10th. They are not good enough. I would say sorry, but I am not. Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Washington, New Jersey (and yes, Philadelphia) are guaranteed better than Ottawa. Ottawa is on par with Montreal, the Rangers (who I think are better but pundits don't), Islanders, Panthers, a slumping Bruins team that will only get better. THe only teams I can say that Ottawa is better than for sure in the east are Toronto and Tampa. Carolina is going to make a BIG PUSH that will fall short.

Plus Ottawa is due to have Neil, Fisher and Alfredsson all go back on IR.

BTW--I am a huge Cory Clouston fan, but he just won't get the job done there. Not with the personnel he has.

When a team is on a hot streak it is always easy to say they are going to get there. However, that streak will soon end by law of averages. They have not been playing as well the last 2 games and still managed to eke out wins. That will drop off as they think they are good. Happens to each and every hot team in the league. Get wins..get fancy...lose. fans tend to go way to high on a team when in a streak..that is what is happening here. Elliot comes back to earth..Sens lose. Period.

I just left for awhile to play ehm. I have been a long time sens fan and this is not a high. They are peaking at the right point. We will see Wensday if thedy can beat a good team like buffalo.

Peaking at game 55 is not the right point DJP. Peaking in June is the right point. Who remembers the winning streaks in January? To prove the point...what was Canucks record last January? What about February and March? Have a look....sound familiar to Nov-Dec and Jan for Ottawa?

:-D

Some quick quips from me, though I'll have all the time in the world now for discussion. Being off work for two weeks with a pulled groin will do that to a person ](*,)

I was awoken by TSN's mobile alert of the Phaneuf trade. It was so out of the blue (Pardon the pun, go Buds go!) that I couldn't go back to sleep. There is so much offense being sent the other way, but this season is more and more looking like a gathering of cornerstone pieces for the franchise. Do I still wish we had high draft picks to look forward to on top of this? Absolutely. But we will see what the future holds.

Call me crazy, but I do like the Leafs and the Flames (I denounce the notion that fans of Canadian teams have to dislike all other Canadian teams) so the trade isn't much less than a win/win for me. When it comes down to it though, it's all about the Leafs! *shaddap Batdad!*

I'll miss Prust, and there sure as hell better be a proper method to the madness of giving up around 40pts (Can't remember the exact total) of OJ for less than 10 goals each from Higgins and Kotalik AKA the biggest slacker duo since Jay & Silent Bob

If TML makes any sort of trade with Ottawa, I would only deem such an act acceptable if we were on the benefitting side to a deal of Milbury-ian proportions. :-D

A whole new season

I think that a whole new season will be played after the olympics and that underachieving teams like the Flyers , the Flames, Detroit and maybe the Rangers could take advantage of this. I also think that this break could be deadly for Phoenix, ottawa, Colorado, Buffalo because it breaks their momentum and that chemistry. What do you think?

By the way, Brian Burke did a real nice job.

Giguère vs Toskala + Blake = Even down Giggy is better then Toskala and he can just get better + Toskala is free agent and toronto brings down their salary cap.

Phaneuf + Keith Aulie (AKA Tyler Myers twin brother) vs Hagman + White + Stajan + Mayers = (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?) 2 of those players going to Calgary are going free agent... DAAAHH... and you can get over 20 players like those on the market in the off season.

Come on Calgary WHAT ARE YOU DOING???? get some draft picks at least???

Ollie Jokinen + Brandon Prust for Kotalik & Higgins.... did i miss something???

Jokinen isn't good enough for those two...???? ONCE AGAIN DID I MISS SOMETHING???

Oh yeah scratch my back i'll scratch yours... That's what i missed

TSN just confirmed that the Flames/Rangers deal is now official. I would now like to offer a moment of silence for the Rick Rypien/Brandon Prust rivalry. We hardly knew ye

Must be a wingers convention in Calgary, as adding Higgins and Kotalik gives them 13 on the roster. 11 if you don't count the currently injured Moss and Dawes. Boyd and Lundmark are technically centers, but if they get shifted over then who plays on the top line left side rather than Boyd?

Perhaps...

Kotalik - Stajan - Iginla
Bourque - Langkow - Glencross
Hagman - Boyd - Higgins
Nystrom - Lundmark - Mayers

*Nystrom and Mayers should get box seats if/when Moss and Dawes get back, and then the return of Conroy could see Lundmark go back to Abbotsford where we NEED him*

White - Regehr
Sarich - Bouwmeester
Pardy - Giordano

I'm not sure but Stajan and Hagman should be in the same line (did they play in Leafs?).

I don't think the Flames are any better today then they were two days ago. They have more depth but they still don't have any high end offensive talent outside of Iginla

Yeah, they had some amazing fights this season. Maybe there will now be a Rypien/Mayers rivalry but Mayers' fights usually aren't that entertaining.

Mayers will get killed by Rypien.

And I thought Calgary needed a #1 C to play with Iggy. A playmaker. Hmm...Dealt the 2 biggest assts they have in Pha-dumbarse and Joke innen----and did they get a playmaking C back? Um...Stajan? yeah right.

Night Night Calgary..enjoy golfing. Brutal roster.

Hagman will get time with Iggy. Stajan will get time with Iggy. Kotalik will get time with Iggy, Higgins will get time with Iggy...and then Sutter will have to go back to playing Langkow or Conroy with Iggy..cause none of those twits will do the job properly.

What is silly about that...is they should play Bourque with Iggy.

Absolutely! Stajan is a two-way player, no #1 C by any means. My line combos played around with the day's practise lines, and just like you said I think combos are going to get wacky.

There was a malicious rumour that the Leafs were going to play Finger on the wing, but they recalled Hanson to fill the forward slot instead. Giguere will get the start tonight against the Devils, Phaneuf looks to be paired with Beauchemin, Sjostrom most likely with Wallin and Kulemin.

I like this trade for the Rangers. Getting rid of Kotalìk and Higgins is addition by subtraction. I like Prust and we'll see what Jokinen can do. If he sucks he can be let free at the end of the season

Yeah...no Iggy not getting dropped. And the Rangers? Jokkinen, Drury, Prospal, Dubinsky down the middle..plus others...what the heck are they thinking?

I don't know what to think about those trades... Well, everybody knows that Burke's rebuilding of the Leafs is underway, and it's equally obvious it's not done yet. But there must be something more coming from Calgary. These moves just don't make sense if there's nothing else to them. Well, either this or Sutter's gone totally and utterly bananas. :-k

Strong showing by the Leafs tonight against the Devils, with the new acquisitions making their presence felt. The question is still where do they go from here.

Trades!

And the best part is, we're still ages away from the deadline and Kovalchuk still hasn't been moved. =P~
