I'm sure the Bruins have been willing to trade him all season. Good luck finding someone to take on his salary though. By them "placing him on the trading block" it's saying "Please! Somebody take him!".

Man I laughed at virtually every email. I love the Bob Goodenow "LMAO" in contacts. Down Goes Brown is a great site.

Just read something on RDS about that Don Waddell have met Kovalchuk to told him that maybe in the next hours OR in the next days he could be trade. Rangers, Hawks and Boston are the most interest team that Waddell said.

I'm not sure about the Hawks and the Rangers though. Can the Hawks will be able to get rid of Campbell in a trade to land Kovalchuk? And what the Rangers can give to have enough cap space for him? Redden? Jokinen? Drury? That's the kind of news that excite me. :-D

I really don't want the Bruins to get him. He'll cost too much (both in salary if they can re-sign him and in assets to acquire him) and he won't solve all of their problems. Too many people in Boston think acquiring him means a Stanley Cup in Boston. They're just not that close.

I read an interesting article discussing possible deadline acquisitions for the Bruins. I really like the idea of them acquiring Barker from Chicago...

Barker has been absolutely horrendous. He cannot hit the net with his shot. His skating is below par,and lately he has been making Brent Sopel look good. He has really fallen off this year. Concerned he may continue to do so. Just not looking good in any way.

And not playing physical. Skating is not good enough. He is not even on the PP very often any more, which is where he was supposed to succeed.

That said...someone will take a chance on him. Barker and Versteeg, Sharp and/or Byfuglien are gone next year. Noone thinks that the Hawks can move CAmpbell or Huet. But one never knows...Giguere and Blake got dealt, albeit for each other...and so did Gomez.

I don't know where but i've read something about the Bruins get Barker too. It could be really good for your team! And me too i think that Kovalchuk will not bring the cup to the Bruins. :-D

I'd be willing to take a chance on Barker. Maybe go after Sharp too. I've read some talk about the Sharks maybe being interested in Wideman and the Bruins liking Clowe. I don't know about that one. I'm all for getting rid of Wideman but I'd like to see them shed some salary.

Well there's the solution. Just trade Huet/Campbell for each other too
](*,)

Barker would be a good fit in Boston...not living up to the hype. Wonder if the universe would explode if you paired him with Wideman.

Barker-Wiedman would lead the league as a pair in turnovers...after playing together just one period. They would even top the potential Phaneuf-Beauchemin pair.

Yeah that would be funny as long as the Nike commercial included the original Neon Dion. Bright lights, and a Lidstrom.

So I just heard that the Blue Jackets have fired Ken Hitchcock and one of the assistants took over on an interim basis.

YEah..that is a shocker right before Olympics. Thought for sure they would hold on to him until after the games were done. Now Canada has a coach that has no real job. And Nash....

Tidbits on the Kovalchuk trade assimilated via twitter:

-Five or more teams still in, including Flames, Rangers, Devils, Flyers, Kings, Bruins, and Blackhawks

-Teams can't talk extension with Kovalchuk just yet, would mean more power for player/agent

Bruins are looking to aquire Keith Tkachuk from St. Louis. He only has 12 goals but that would put him in a tie for second among leading goal scorers on the Boston Bruins

Pumpkinhead McKenzie says that the Flames aren't in it for Kovalchuk. Dredger saying that Niclas Wallin won't be in the Canes lineup against Calgary, due to a pending trade with San Jose.

Kari Lehtonen is also expected to be traded out of Atlanta pretty soon. Dallas and St. Louis and rumoured to be interested in him.
