Only people, i know they have been in North Korea, is Fininsh rockband called Peer Günt. They make few gigs in Pyong Pyang in late 80's. Their lead guitarist/vocalist T. Nikki said that the whole country and audience sucked very much.

Dunno how someone N-Korean dude get them there, did they asked it from Kim Jong Il? And why Finnish rockband, which isn't very popular outside of Finland?

Kim Johnsson and a prospect named Leddy go to Chicago for Cam Barker.

Jody Shelley from SJ to the Rangers for a draft pick

I've heard of Leddy before but I can't remember if it was real life or EHM. :-k

Okay... just looked him up on Hockey's Future. Nick Leddy. He was Minnesota's 1st round pick in 2009.

Maybe Chicago got a decent return on Barker, especially if they're trying to cut salary for next year. What's Johnsson make? I'm assuming he's a UFA after this season.

Nick Leddy--Minnesota's 1st round pick last season. He is at U of Minny. 19 games, 4 points 4 pims.

JOhnsson is an UFA, but not sure how the Hawks have the room..he makes $4.85 mill and my knowledge says the Hawks are REALLY REALLY close to the cap again. But it would help their tagging as Kim contract done at the end of the year.

Gives the HAwks another mobile dman so they can afford to not play Seabs/Keith 28 minutes per game each. Also allows them to get rid of a player who is underperforming big time.

I've heard that maybe in the next hours, maybe after the game agaisnt the Flyers, the Habs and Kings make a trade involving Frolov, but no name got advance for the Habs. With P.K. Subban been call from Hamilton i wouldn't be surprise to see Gill, Spacek or Harmlik go. D'Agostini and Weber were named, they've been in alot of rumor recently.

I'm eager to see Subban play tonight, i hope he's gonna have some PP time, but i'm sure hw will.

Leddy is predicted to have a big future. He won the Minnesota's Mr. Hockey award last year.

I'm not a fan of Barker. He's never lived up to his No. 3 overall tag...

Hasn't the deadline now passed?

Philou--Only way that trade happens is if it was done before 12PM PST, or 3PM your time. It had to be done and confirmed with the league by then due to Olympic Roster Freeze. If not, cannot be done til the 3 days just before deadline after Olympics. May have had something on the burner, but did not get done in time? Or just late from the league..that happens.

Nick Leddy HF article

He likens himself to Phil Housely, Brian Campbell and Duncan Keith. Where does Keith fit in with those two turnover machines? But yeah...he can skate.

This is a great deal for the Hawks. They get a guy who can eat up Seabrook and Keith minutes and allow them to play, instead of conserve energy (they have both looked real tired lately) and play some PP, some PK minutes in Johnsson. AND the Hawks get a top notch o-dman prospect....FOR CAM BARKER. A slow footed, slapshot guy who cannot pass, and has little lateral mobility.

That being said...I like Barker. Boy is a decent dman who is having a tough time in Chicago with all the skaters.

As long as there is no pick going to Minny, I think we look back and say Chicago took Minny to the cleaners.

Yes i thought about it after write my post. :-D Maybe they run out of time....we will see when the Olympics end!

Well I'm sure there have been plenty of positive comments about Barker when he was Leddy's age as well...
Still don't think he's bad. Just not quite living up to the hype...picked a bit too high and it's haunting him. Maybe not the perfect fit for the Hawks system either. He's still young and he definitely has the tools to become a very solid Dman. He's more proven than Leddy anyway, prospects are overrated. Might not turn out to be all that bad for Minny in the end.

A change of place will maybe help him improve. He didn't have a bad season last year, but now with Seabrook and Keith that took alot of place and maybe he didn't get as much ice time as last year or something like this, i'm sure he will do well at Minnesota.

No...Barker has never been described as a skater. Never. He has some upside for sure. But like I said, still like him to be a good #4 dman on a team. He will never QB a PP but he can end up being the shooter. He really needs to work on his mobility side to side (lateral)...pivot speed etc. He really has not done enough on that as he should have over the past few seasons.

Yeah I didn't mean he was like Leddy in style. Just saying there have been plenty of positive reports on him, just as there are about Leddy now...doesn't mean it's gonna work out as expected was what I meant. That's why I'm a bit hesitant to call this a bad deal for Minny. Johnsson is an UFA who can eat some minutes, that works well for the Hawks, Minny isn't going anywhere this season and they get a much younger player with potential signed long-term. Chicago probably isn't re-signing Johnsson anyway so who knows, he might end up in Minny next season. Decent deal for Chicago that's for sure, regardless of what happens with Leddy since they get rid of a big contract for next year without getting worse this year...and might turn out to be decent for Minny too.

Anyway, watched the game last night with the Tampa feed and almost missed Edwards call on the Chara/Downie scrap :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2z0Iz3BdEo&
Downie is such a Lidstrom. And I don't even mean him going after Satan but his antics with Chara. Why do you turtle and cry for the linesmen to step in after punching a guy to the back of the head while he's skating away ? Wanna be a tough guy be a tough guy all the way. Such a phony.

Maybe the Hawks can get the best out of Barker. Just like Latendresse. Barker only plays like 12 minutes a game in Chi-town.

I still think Chicago win.

To put it in the correct place:

Brad May and Jonathan Cheechoo clear waivers. Jamie Lundmark gets picked up by the Leafs.

The Wings have signed prospect Willie Coetzee to an entry-level contract.
