A trade I'm quite happy with:
Gave Ehrhoff, a 2nd and 4th round selection,
got Jay Bouwmeester

My Best trade would be
Hagman, Daley, Meittinen, 1st rounder for J. Thornton, and M. Michalek
Or maybe
Holmqvist, Pushkarev and 3rd for Zetterberg.
Happened in the exact same year for my "SuperStar" Team which was
Zetterberg/Thornton/Modano
Michalek/Richards/Lehtinen
Morrow/Ribeiro/Gaborik
O.Jokinen/Marleau/Rolston
Is what my team ended up. of course i had no future and had to live off FA for the next 8season but it was worth it to go 80-0-2 and 16-0 in the playoffs.. OH and i basically Turned the Cap Off(well not off just made it 99mil)

Probably this one not gonna be a steal, but quite interesting
Trying to turn Panthers into a contender did the following:
traded Lalime for g.C.Anderson and T.Poti
acquired S.Avery, rights to J.Immonen for three 3rd rounders
in two weeks traded S.Avery back with two 2nd rounders for Jagr
got C.Price for Lalime and rights to J.Immonen
The Bottom line:
outgoing

:C.Anderson,Poti,Avery,Immonen,Lalime,3rd,3rd,3rd,2nd,2nd rounders
incoming

: Jagr,Price, Avery,Immonen,Lalime
Taking into consideration that often 2nd+2nd+3rd rounders=1st rounder, after reducing the result will be:
2 roster players I don't need, 1st, 3rd, 3rd rounders for C.Price and J.Jagr
Some people may see that deal as quite even, but for me - I've got the players I wanted.

I am not so sure about your equation here

That's the most important thing. What I think is a great deal, others may not. As long as you're happy with your trade, that's what matters.

I know...
I can often deal a 2nd round pick and a 7th round pick for a 1st, especially from Detroit or Calgary.

Yeah, but those teams are generally in the top teir of the league, so their 1st round pick is barely a 2nd round pick... So it becomes a 2nd + a 7th for a better 2nd, which is okay most of the times...

In my most recent game I traded Erik Cole and a 3rd round pick for Patrick Marleau.
Before that trade, I think my best was Kyle Wellwood for Shawn Horcoff, straight trade.

I was surprised as well...It seems like AI consistantly underestimate the value of a draft pick in the future.
You can easily get, let's say, 2010 1st rounder of highly ranked NHL teams like Buffalo, Calgary or Philly for a bunch of 2nd and 3rd rouders of so-called "weaker" teams like Yotes or Preds in 2006. The AI ranking changes every year before the start of a new season

, so you can trade for the future again and again

.

I see... I wasn't aware of this AI weakness, but well... I don't search for loopholes.

My best trade to date was Curtis Joseph and 4th round for Nittimaki. Right at the start of the game. Nitti is now the best goalie in the league.

What'd I say? What'd I say?
Nitti is the best in my game. Well its either him or Lundqvist. But since his big wins for my in last years playoffs, there ain't no one better. Ouellet is a great backup too. 18s in glove & blocker!

I've already seen it. Had to bite my tongue to let it go.
Qikdraw: Next time check your Nitty spelling from my profile, eh?

Please accept my heartfelt appologies.
Most people put 'u' in my name, so I understand.
Please don't beat me.

I'm only doing my duty, upholding the laws of correct spelling (of Finnish names). But thank you, sir.

My personal favorite came in the first offseason of my Columbus franchise.
Columbus gives up
C Todd Marchant
For Edmontons
C Jarret Stoll
I had been trying to find that number one centerman to go between Nash and Zherdev on my top line. Fedorov was getting old, and was let go that offseason (No one would trade for him...)
Marchant went on to be a 15-20 point a season guy for the last four years.
Stoll has been a 85-95 point centerman for the last four years.
I was shocked that Edmonton accepted, but then again, Marchant was coming off a 50 point season, so that put his value up quite a bit.
Here was one I liked
Columbus gives
Columbus' 5th round draft choice in 2011
For Pittsburgh's
Ryan Wilson
Wilson had a 4 Million per season contract, and was pushing the Penguins over the cap. He was botton pairing with them as well. With me he has become a top pairing defenceman (I had cap room as my captian, Foote, retired a week before the 2010-2011 season started) And has put up 53 points in 71 games this season.

My most recent trade is ending up to be quite good. I had been having problems for the past few years with my #1 line. I had no players in the top 50 for points last season, even though I was tops in the league. This year my first line was doing ok, but I needed more from them. My first line was Hanzal, Crosby, Doan, and sometimes Mueller, Crosby, Doan. Last season Crosby was out with a lot of injuries, which is probably why my number one line weren't producing the points I wanted. (they each had about 60+ points, not enough)
Talking with Nurgle he suggested I get a strong Left Winger. So taking his wise council I traded:
Crosby, Dawes
for
Ovechkin
I moved Tavaras from 3rd line to centre first line, and now I have Ovechkin, Tavaras, Doan for my first line. Ovechkin is 3rd in points and Tavaras, on his rookie year, is 10th. Doan is down the list but pops into the top 50 now and then.
Crosby's first game with Washington he got a hattrick, his second game he was injured for 3 weeks., and a month later he is out for a month. In my game Crosby likes getting injured, I'm glad he's gone. Dawes, before the trade deadline, Washington put up on the trading block, they don't like him any more than I did.

Well, as you cannot edit your own post after 15 minutes, I will post the change here.
I ment Ryan
WHITNEY, not Wilson.

I am the Penguins in my first season and I decided to trade Staal to the Canucks for Luc Bourdon and a 1st RD Pick this year. I felt I needed a good blue-line prospect and my scouts liked Bourdon at the WJC. What do you think of this deal?

Of the many blue-line prospect in the game, Bourdon is not the 1st to come to mind. But you do have a 1st rounder to play with.
