ETA: Riot? What riot? There ain't no stinking riot.
ETA2: Plus if I were to riot...it would not be with any Habs fan jumping on any bandwagon. Closet boy.

I originally made this av for 'thecoolstuff' but he didn't think it was up to snuff. looks like he was wrong.
As for the riot - don't you think this town is due to lose it if the 'Nucks go deep? I can see some wildness going down as they advance.
And maybe you won't be invited to my riot then....

Grumble mumble grumble. Stupid too many men penalties. Always the hardest ones to kill off. Dumb dumb dumb. Count the players coming to the bench Sopel. DUMB!
Oh well....Canucks in 6.
Calgary back in it...too bad for them 2 of 3 on the road. Canucks better be real real prepared for Saturday...as Dallas just got a huge monkey off their back.
If the Canucks do go anywhere...the police will have downtown on lockdown this time. Christ, they are already fining people for excessive honking of their car horns.

I haven't seen any of the games yet, but somehow I still have the feeling that they can steal one at the Joe, which is what gives them the series. Then they'll meet the Ducks in the 2nd round, which will be the end of the road for the Flames.

If the Flames can carry the momentum and the playing style from the last two games over to Saturday's game, I think they have a good chance to win game 5. Anaheim will probably be an impossible task but this is the kind of team that can win against anyone if everyone is on the same page playing their very best. Let blind faith rule the day for now...
Congrats to the Sens, who have been very, very impressive so far. I live in Ottawa and I noticed that nobody seemed to care, though....this city doesn't deserve the team they have.
I have a statistics final at 2:00 pm on Saturday...the game starts at 3:00. This is going to get ugly.

Congrats to the Pens for their huge progress this season, becoming a playoff team after being a bottom team. The Sens were far too much for them to handle, but they never let down and always oppose their best possible resistance, while they should have let it all goes at such a young age with so much pressure on their shoulders. No longer 'baby Pens' for next year, they now must be called 'Pens kids', as they gew up!
Nice win for the Flames to tie the series. Now they must get this f***in' road win if they want to advance to the second round. They aren't road specialists at all, so it'll be hard, but everything's possible in the playoffs
Second shutout for Turco in this year's playoffs... He really proved this year that he can be hell of a goalie when it comes to playoffs time! He keeps the Stars alive on his own, but has a really hard work to overplay Luongo. This Stars-Nucks series is the most impressive of the first round IMO.
The Wild wasn't wild at all. Far too sweet to beat the Ducks. Bäckström did a really good job, but he has been all alone to do so, resulting in an easy victory for the Ducks.

The Teen Pens have learned to lose, next year they'll learn to win.

Or maybe their first line did something naughty and now they're not allowed out this weekend.

The series isn't over yet, though.
I've never liked Brodeur much (a big part of that is playing for the coma-inducing Devils), but I have to say that he is one heck of a goalie. If I were to list the best goalies I've ever seen play live or on live TV, he'd be on the list right after Roy, Tretyak, and Hasek.
Well, at least the Tennessee Thugs are out. Have a nice vacation, Mr. Forsberg.

The Flames are an effing disgrace to playoff hockey! Flames fans should be ashamed of their team's behavior. Absolutely ridiculous.

NHL should give him a 60 games suspension.. so he would miss 3 starts

1. Maclennan should be suspended. That was idiotic. But it makes no difference anyway. And no way the coach told him to do that. Playfair is not that smart or dumb..however you want to say it.
2. Langkow--Not...Just stupid though. Lebda was an absolute idiot to low bridge someone like that in a 5-1 game that late. Stupid. But eh...he is a Wing. Love how Lebda limps off the ice from his leg being contorted and bent...a leg injury...and the Wings make it out to the media he has a concussion from a punch that hit him full force in the shoulder and grazed off the side of his head. Good old playoff hockey. Bla....
Langkow was an idiot in pain who reacted to a stupid hit. Stupid by Langkow...but not exactly a lethal punch from him.
3. Iginla---Should have got a bigger penalty but I doubt he gets suspended. The buttend and cross check were not as big a deal as Wings fans will make out.
Draper should also get his facts straight before jumping someone thinking that that person did something to Cleary. Cause Iggy was nowhere near Cleary. Cleary just can't skate. Duh.
Alex Burrows--Should be suspended. That was disgusting.
Monday nite is going to be mean and nasty. And so is Sunday.

It was a legal but vicious hit.. I don't blame Langkow at all for reacting like he did. If I was playing and got hit like that at the leg level.. I would have react the same way.

Iggy barely tapped the guy. Calling for a suspension is asinine (I wouldn't know how the reaction has been, given I turned off the TV in disgust as soon as the horn sounded). Lebda got what he deserved for hitting low when his team is up 4-1 late in the third; if Detroit really is trying to say it was a concussion they should automatically forfeit the series due to inconceivable lameness--what do they take the hockey-consuming public for? The...voting public? McLennan....wow. I know he gets pretty fiery but wow. At least they mixed in some emotion.

Is it just me or does Iginla not liked to get hit. It seems like any time he takes a hit or gets knocked around he gets all crazy and starts shoving people. I also liked his elbow on Zetterberg at the end of the 1st or 2nd period. Really wasn't needed considering they were in the corner with like 1 second left.

by batdad
No, actually Iginla does not mind getting hit. In fact that is what wakes him up. If the Wings had any brains in their heads whatsoever they would never touch him. There is a reason Vancouver shut him down for the entire regular season. Iggy never got mad, cause noone ever touched him...so he just went for a skate. I expect Iggy to come out flying in the next game..right at the start...for the first time in his entire career. Detroit has finally wakened the Giant. Dumb move.
OK This next rant is brought to you by a sinking oil container somewhere in the word. It is not directed at anyone here, and I apologize for it coming now...and therefore sounding like it does. Joe...honestly wish I got here before you and posted this first, cause it ain't about you or Systemefel. I mean we all know I hate the Flames the most right??
Come off it Wings fans. You look silly when you whine, and are winning a series. Yep Maclennan a bad bad man. Iginla not really (they were love taps), Langkow just frustrated. Come on. Be happy...Datsyuk and Zetterberg have finally shown up. You have a goalie who has not got injured (so far), and you are winning the series. You don't have Bowman anymore so it just looks dumb.
Calgary is frustrated ... Detroit should be happy. It clearly means unless something stupid happens--Detroit will win the series. Be happy.
Plus Detroit has some of the dirtiest and chippiest players on record on your team in Chelios, Bonehead, Maltby, Draper, Holmstrom.. And now come the comments about Draper and Maltby not being dirty. No they are not..but they are borderline all the time. Those guys play with a streak that helps really piddle people off. Cause not only are they chippy, but they are sneaky. Same with Holmstrom
I am not a Wing hater. I have liked them for years until recently, when whining about everyone else has become Wing fan culture. Deal with your own issues, and stop whining. It sounds like excuses are being made for a team that is actually winning. But, but Iggy is dirty...yeah but the Wings won...but but Langkow is dirty...yeah but the Wings won the game. Relax /rant

Yeah, badtad, Calgary is frustrated, but it's not very classy to be Hextalling guys or sucker punching injured players in the head, is it?
Who cares about a few pushes and mini-chops by Draper and Maltby? At least they're not trying to kill other players.
Edit: And who the hell is 'Bonehead'?
Posted: Sun Apr 22, 2007 5:44 pm

1. Noone Hextalled anyone last night. Except Burrows. Calgary was not classy for sure. But Detroit is/was any better? Come on. When Detroit loses they are just as bad...as are most teams now. The lack of respect among players is disgusting in general.
Now Maclennan...once again...he definitely chopped ala Billy Smith with his axe. But one player doing something stupid does not make the rest of the team stupid.
Langkow hit Lebda on the shoulder... and the punch bounced into his head...same as Maltby and Draper rabbit punches all over the ice. AND NOT VERY HARD. Langkow cannot punch hard...he is a wuss. Come on , Lebda had no business with that hit at that time of the game. He had no respect for Langkow and hurt his knee in the end by doing it...not his head. Lebda caused the problem. No doubt Langkow punched him...Lebda tried to take out Langkow's knees with no time left i na blowout game. Anyone would have puinched him. Cept Bert...who would wiat til later and then do something dumb. And Draper and Maltby...who would never actually fight anymore...cause they know they get killed. Oh and Holmstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom....all would have turtled and run away too if Phaneuf did that to them.
2. I gave no excuse to Maclennan. Nor to Iggy...just saying thta Iggy's was not that big a deal. A great dive by Schneider.

Yeah, everytime Detroit is losing, some Wing mega slashes someone over the chest. Every single time, I'm telling ya!
What did Langkow do after punching Lebda? He turned back to the boards, doing his best Ribeiro imitation. How about that?
Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidström running away? Yeah, as would most skilled players. You see Crosby dropping them? Jagr? St. Louis?

I don't really see how you can have dirtiest/chippiest as the same category. I would agree that Maltby is chippy. Dirty? When I think of dirty I think of running guys and taking cheap shots. I don't really recall either Maltby or Draper ever doing anything dirty. I wouldn't ever consider them borderline either but of course this is an opinion coming from a Detroit fan. Chelios and Bertuzzi, yeah, I'd say so.
And then Holmstrom? You can't be serious, all he does is sit in front of the net and either Bryzgalovs off the other team, or bumps their goalie and gets a penalty.
All I know is that you hear such great things about Iginla, but so far I'm not all that impressed with him. Hes a hell of a player but I still say he can't take a hit without needing to hit someone immediately after that. I don't really care what you say about Iginla's cheap shots at the end of the game, he did them and the intent was there. I guess I'm just not impressed with him as a Captain. I guess at least hes not going on his shouting matches with the refs like he did all playoffs long in 2003.

Holmstrom does whatever he can with his arms, body, legs, stick, feet to push other players into goalies at the most opportune moment. If he cannot do that, he bangs into goalies on purpose. It is how he has made his career. I have no issue with that. IN fact I referred to him as being borderline chippy/dirty as I did to other wings. that is all. Borderline. Not really anything wrong with that. Chelios and Bert---DIRTY and we all know it. Lebda stupid, and we all know it.
Jerome has not impressed me in this series either, as I said before...leave him alone and he goes quietly into the night. piddle him off and watch out. He is now widdled off.
Anyway, enough from me bumping Detroit around...I still hate them less than I hate the Flames. However, the stuff that went on in that game was still (with the exception of Maclennan) nowhere near as bad as that idiot Burrows for the Canucks.

well, clearly the league thinks the Flames are idiots. Mclennen suspended 5 games - Playfair fined 25 large - THE ORGANIZATION fined 100 large. darn.
As per TSN.

Yep. No shock with Maclennan as I said. Should have been suspended for 5 starts. So two years in other words for him.
And not shocking either that Playfair and team fined. Late game actions (including Lebda's hit) should not happen the way it did in those games. Calgary was stupid no doubt.... but no suspensions for Iginla love taps or Langkow shoulder (or faceslaps?) Not surprising either.
Next up is Burrows tomorrow morning. He should get a bit and at least a fine.
Anyway, on we go with the war tonight.
Congrats to the Devils and Marty Brodeur for fighting their way past TB. Blech, more Devil hockey. Blech.
