Darn! You beat me to it!
Raycroft has lost it. He just hasn't been the same since the lockout. Maybe it's the new style of NHL game? I don't know for sure. He's just not cutting it. I'm just happy that the Bruins were able to get Rask for him.

good trade for the sharks, they need a first this year, and 13th is very high, they can take someone really good there. they already hav a good crop of prospects so they didnt need bell or toskala.
though i hate to admit it, good trade sharks

Keep all non-draft related transactions here, I've stickied this and the other thread

I suppose the big question for the Laffs is now whether Toskala can cut it as a full-time #1. He's been one of the better back-ups around for a couple of seasons, but that doesn't necessarily mean he has what it takes to be the go-to guy for a full season.

Maybe both Toskala and Raycroft can be backups? I'm not seeing a starter there.

Roberts and Recchi sign 1 year deals to stay in Pit
2.5 for Roberts
2.0 for Recchi and as an old man there is some bonus structure allowed.
I am lukewarm about these. Both guys are aged, and past their primes but the Pens need some old men to help out Sid lead.

Oh man, Nashville sends Vokoun to Florida for a 1st round pick in '08,
a 2nd round pick in '07 and a 2nd round pick in '07 or '08. That's a small robbery for a top-10 goalie.

What??? Vokoun out of Nashville??? No goalie, no playoffs... no playoffs, no fans (at least, less)... no fans, and the Preds will go away...

Link for Vokoun deal
*Nashville still has a good goalie. Mason was great last year when Vokoun was hurt.
However, this does likely spell the end of the road for the drunken bar fight goalie. Who else would take the Eagle on?

Heh. Doubt it though. I think he is finally finished. Cujo could be next now that the Loafs have Toskala.
Draft day is becoming a goalie move day. Luongo last year. Maybe still Manny to go this year...

The panthers finally realised the importance of a top goalie.. they surely missed luongo alot when Bonetuzzi was on IR

And they will miss that top goalie again..when Vokoun once again shows he is
1. Injury prone
2. Not really very good, especially in big games.
(ooh I am critical and mean today, hmmm no Habs moves to criticize? Oh well, the nite...she is young.

Most of the habs moves are bad anyways, and the others are even worst. be my guest

I read that Mason didn't have a single win against a playoff team in '06-'07, don't know if it's true, though.

Mason will be the least of Nashville's issues next season. They are slashing and burning. One big fire sale.

I kind of surprised that Boston didn't go after Vokoun, especially after hearing all the rumors about them going after Fernandez (which as of this time still hasn't happened).

Canucks pick up Ryan Shannon for Jason King
Interesting deal here for both Burke and Vancouver. Ryan Shannon adds alot of speed to Van, and more depth up front, and Jason King is staying in Europe for at least 1 more year. Could be a good move for Anaheim in 2 years, but a decent one for Vancouver now.

Not an official transaction to report - but RFA signing period starts today. If I was a GM, I'd be taking a hard look at:
Parise
Vanek
Torres
Koivu
Greene
Schultz
Penner
Roy
Svatos
Horton
*Re-signed* Thanks B72.
Ryder
Prucha
Emery
Pitkanen
Eminger
Personally, I love the offer sheets - I hope we see a few this year.

Horton has already been re-signed, Catchup.

Offer sheets suck....grumble Kesler grumble. No really, all they do is eff up the salary cap, and team's financial structures. They are stupid. Thanks alot CatchUp...get me going why don't you. Jesus.
Anyway, none of these guys will get offers...why? Because they will cost way too much in draft picks going the other way. Oilers ain't gonna sign Pitkanen...cause would they really want to give up a 1st round pick for him? I dunno. Steve Stamkos and Drew Doughty may be the next coming..so I just don't see it.
However, of the guys you listed Pitkannen is most likely to get one. The GM's will want to get back at Philly for their stupidity last season, and force Philly to match a ridiculous contract offer...thus keeping them from going after the UFA centre they really want.
RFA's are just fodder...they will sit and rot with their team of the previous season, until .... UFA status is EARNED
