I can only hope that the Abbotsford Heat catch on to the "Non-Perishable Food Item Night" phenom.

Not sure how off topic this may be, but a close friend of mine's younger brother, Kyle Burroughs, was recently drafted by the Regina St. Pats in the third round, 47th overall!

In the fall, when Lidas db 3.0 will be out, he'll be in the game

Batdad, there's talk about the Bruins grabbing McIlrath with their own pick at #15. Any opinion on him ? I've read several interviews but obviously his own coaches or teammates will try to build him up so there's no objectivity and scouting reports are usually a bit too positive for my liking, youtube clips can make even Ryder look like a decent player so those are useless as well. From what I get he's got limited offensive upside, average skating and is one mean fool. I'd really like something more detailed.

McIlrath is the toughest bugger since Milan Lucic in the WHL. Well, actually he is tougher. Not as good a player. Mean mean mean. And not a bad skater for sure.

Yeah I've actually read somewhere he was being described as the Milan Lucic of defencemen

Would you say it's reasonable to grab a player with those limits that high ?

Good question, Danny! I've heard a lot of talk (mostly at HFboards) about him and wondered the same thing.

I have heard Blackhawk fans talk about him as well. Many are saying with the way the draft is this year, McIlrath fits in the first round. I dunno. I Have not seen all the players, so cannot say for sure. He would be a decent addition, but he definitely has his limitations. From what I am hearing though everyone outside the top 10 (and in my mind one in the top ten) have big limitations this year though.

Rumours of dave matsos moving to Windsor spitfires as coach. He was coach of Sheffield in the British eihl and won the double in 08-09.
Unfortunately he tends to play I credibly boring trap hockey...

He'd be only an assistant coach as they just named their new head coach

Probably the most talented player in this CHL import draft. This kid is a fluent skater with beautiful hands and great hockey sense. He knows where he needs to be on the ice and knows how to get their with the puck. He has the ability to put the puck in the net after dangling his way through multiple defenders. He will need time to improve his strength, but he is a world class talent and a possible #1 overall pick in the 2012 NHL draft. He scored 43 points in only 14 games with his under-16 team and put up 6 points in 14 MHL games as a 15 year old (youngest player in MHL). If he comes to Sarnia, he will turn that program around (as we all know, they need help).

2nd best player in the draft. He will have two years to develop further under the QMJHL and will be a star player in the league before being drafted high in the 2012 NHL draft.
bestrafer7 wrote:Montreal Juniors (

Hari is a goal scorer and slick skater who knows how to get around a defender. He put up 56 goals and 103 points in 38 games in the Swedish under 18 Elit and Allsvenskan leagues and lead his home country, Hungary to a Silver Medal at the Division 1A U18 World Championships. He will likely come over

Took a number out of Burmistrov's book and decided to head to the CHL. I would compare him to Igor Larionov, he has slick offensive skills, but best of all he is solid defensively and is quite the home run threat on the PK. He scored to SH goals in the U17 tournament this season. He put up very impressive numbers with his 93 team in Russia as well. He reads the game really well and the only reason he wasn't higher in this draft was the uncertainty of him coming to North America. He already plays well in the North American style game, watch out for him this season in the Q.

London Knights (
OHL) - C Vladislav Namestnikov

-
Wildcard
Ranked #9 on ISS Skaters for the 2011 NHL draft. He is a very good skater who can score from all over the ice. Definitely needing to bulk up his frame, but he is very quick and has a very good playmaking ability.
bestrafer7 wrote:Windsor Spitfires (

Another top russian prospect. Has good vision on the ice and plays a solid two way game. Has the ability to score, but would rather be the set-up man. He can push passes sometimes and can cause turnovers. He needs to work on his size as well, but he is still very young. He has a shot at the KHL next year.

We'll see about Hari coming over. He wanted to be drafted by the OHL but went to the Q instead. I think he'll go west, though

Leading on from that... The Ottawa 67's used their improt draft pick to draft Robert Farmer. Also from Sheffield.

I have a special DB that I play with when not playing challenges that I added most of these guys and all of the bantams that went in the O, Q and W drafts. I believe it is more fun when you have a bunch of real players being drafted in the 09 and 10 drafts rather than just regens.

Hmm... He was according to Elite Prospects.
I checked and you are right, he is not currently listed on their training camp roster. I do believe he will come over by August 18th when training camp starts.
