It just goes AM -> PM -> next day if there's a game or something.. If there is no event, it just sims the day. I like the way it is.

Ok thanks. While I wait for other people's opinions I can say that I plan to "stop" more often just prior to deadlines, always hated when you missed a great last second trade. FM have it like this and I like it.

There's also an EVE in there for "evening". AM (morning) > PM (afternoon) > EVE (evening) > Next morning

Being able to stop more often prior to any deadline would be very helpful.

Yeah, especially for Euro leagues. The game (EHM) actually does real time trades on the trade deadline date at the NHL, but in Europe the game goes ahead as usual and thus you can't offer a contract on the same day of the deadline and have it accepted.

A short update:
Last couple of days I have implemented basic movement between screens. I will continue to improve this in the coming weeks. At the same time I am designing the event and news systems which I hope to implement this month. By the time this is done I hope the database is ready so I can do some proper testing with real data.
The event system is one of the most important parts and it could take some time before I get it right. I have most of the design in my head and on paper I just have to transfer it into code.

Thanks for the update dabo!

I think the three that EHM has is a good balance. Any more event times and you'd get fed up with constantly having to click on "Continue" to pass through days. Of course, any fewer and you'd start missing out on things.
Good luck Dabo

Right now the idea is to stop the simulation on games, news (based on time stamps) and on events visible to the user (will basically be in the form of news). Of course I could limit the arrival of news and events to AM, PM and evening but I would like to achieve something more random.

Archie brought up clicking continue so I wonder if you can make it like in EHM with the spacebar being the hotkey to continue?

It sure would be sweet to have more stop times near the trade deadline and maybe just before the draft in June.

For the deadline it could be really usefull. Sometimes negociations are more longer than I expect and when I sim I've got no news in the evening so when the morning comes out the deadline is pass and the nego fails.

Consider it done.

I would guess that EHM breaks the simulation down into three chunks (AM, PM and EVE). E.g. so when a trade is made then the following events (e.g. the other team considering it and responding it) would be simulated in the following time period (or perhaps with a time delay - e.g. if you make an offer at AM then you get the response EVE or the following AM).
Also, afternoon games are simulated at PM and the results shown at EVE. The evening games are simulated at EVE and then I guess the results could be shown the following AM.

Oh and what is constant on at least Lidas' databases, when team let's say Flyers place Blair Betts on waivers and I as Canucks want to claim him, but already there is 4 claims placed so there is no possibilities for me to claim Betts. This could be worked out anyhow?

If a team is weaker than yours you know they have the priority over you?

Was that really my first post? I've been lurking since 2005? Sheesh! Shame on me. I guess I usually come looking for info and find by just searching. This is the first thing that's had me excited enough to really have something to say.

I like the 1-20 thing. Its a little more... in depth than the 1-10.
I think it just feels more deep.
Though I like your suggestion. I like the report card in EHM but I want, instead of the attributes screen, just a few numbers that tell me a little bit about my prospect in terms of ability while being supplemented by the report card.

I love how this is unfolding. Makes a lot of sense to get the entire EHM fanbase to pitch in

That's the better way to make great games Alex, the gaming compagnies are starting to realize that as well.

Not to take this too far off topic, but I wish I could say this is true for SI.
Maybe it's only me, but they just aren't the same since that infamous period a few years ago when they suddenly dumped Out of the Park Baseball and EHM, and then started FM Live. Since then, they've been very "big corporation-like", stopping by once or twice a year to sell their latest version, then retreating until next time they need to feed their customers.
I don't know... to me they just seem very different now.

I felt the same when they were gearing up for the second release of EHM - at least like they were moving in that direction.
