So this is confirmed as working with the latest roster updates? I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the lack of realistic scores and stats.

Would I simply zero out all values except the weight?
yes, zeroes in the Excel spreadsheet tell the editor to ignore that stat.

EDIT - just restarted a test of this now, i will let you know the results in a few days.

Speaking of the v6.1 DB.
Did you run the patch yourself on that DB?
CJ says it has already been done, but I have quesions if it has been. Mainly because I don't see the player weight adjustment. I'm still fairly new to EHM07, so I don't know of any other way to verify, besides looking at the player weights or of course running a complete season sim.

I'm assuming 6.1 is a different database than the Manimal roster updates?

I believe so, yes. The 6.1 we are talking about is for the 2006-07 season.
The "Updated Unfaking DataBase v6.1".
I'm pretty sure it's the standard you'd want to use, if you wish to start with that season.

Can someone confirm this for me:
This patch and v2.0.1 of this patch only change the player.dat file and no other files.
Is that a true statement?

Modifying heights/weights was an optional feature of the Patch. Perhaps CJ didn't modify this aspect. The benefit of modifying them all is that you create a completely level playing field because EHM favours taller players. However, the obvious downside is that it makes everything feel a little unrealistic in terms of all players being the same height/weight.

Yes, that's correct.

Noticing something with this patch. It KILLS fighting. My UUDB 6.1 team had 1 fight in the whole 82 game schedule. Not a game killer for me...but for some it will be.

Yes it does take care of the fightings. I guess it's impossible to have fights and get realistic penalty minutes for players.

the choice is a pretty straight one between either having [correct fighting but too many powerplays] or [correct powerplays but too few fights], and i chose the second one. the aggression stat is way too influential in the match engine hardcode, nothing can be done about it as far as i'm aware. you could simply put a 0 in the csv file to tell the MET to leave the aggression stat alone if you wanted to bring fighting back.

Yeah..I have no issue with it. Just really did not know it. Not a big deal, but was just commenting as I had not tried it until I went to this DB and gave it a shot.

I've been experimenting whilst working on the NHL attributes for the next TBL Rosters update. I'm not fully finished, but I found that setting every players' Temperament to 20 helped dampen the effect of the Aggression attribute:
As an experiment, I set all NHL players' Temperament to 20. This had quite a positive impact on PIM totals. Only one player in my sim achieved a 200+ PIM (D.J. King @ 252 PIM in 76 GP). The top 50 in EHM ranged from 252 at #1 to 99 at #50. Compare that to the real life 2011/12 season, the top 50 ranged from 235 at #1 down to 87 at #50. That's pretty darn close!
Overall team PIM is fairly close too. In my EHM sim, team PIM ranged from 1,255 (Mtl) to 859 (Ott). In the real life 2011/12 season, the range was 1,318 (Phi) to 689 (Nas). Again, it's not all that bad and much closer than what we had before.
The number of fights is much better too. The top 20 in game ranged from 23 fights to 11. In 2011/12 it ranged from 20 to 10.

no offence taken at all. how're the rest of the realism changes working for you? does it improve the game experience? i know it's a game killer for some but until your post Archi i was struggling to think how to strike a good balance between the two. but by the sounds of it you've pretty much solved it in one go, great job! looking forward to these TBL rosters for sure.

Interesting program this mass editor. I'd like to know if it's possible to edit attributes other than those listed in the attributes_confic.csv file?
I tried to fiddle around with it and added potential and fighting, for example, but it didn't work.
I ask because I actually want to increase scoring. So I want to reduce the abilites and potentials of all goalies...
Or is there any other way to do this? I also tried to fiddle around with the Updater and exported csv files, but couldn't make it work.

No, I'm afraid it's only possible to edit the attributes specifically listed in the csv file. I'd love to eventually add mass editing of all attributes to the Updater, but that's a long way off I'm afraid.
If you're looking to increase scoring, I'd suggest using v2.0.1 of the Mass Editor. I have updated the original download page (
click here) with a link to this version. You will find it at the bottom of the first post on the download page (there is also an explanation of how the settings file for v2.0.1 works). Version 2.0.1 is a little easier to use and provides more flexibility in terms of settings combinations.
I would suggest initially looking at the Consistency attribute. Try decreasing this for goalies and defencemen. Consistency has a big impact on the scoring levels of forwards. I would expect if you decrease the Consistency of goalies and defencemen then a lot more goals will be scored.
You could also try decreasing the Defensive Role for defencemen and forwards.
Something like this might be a useful starting point (this will decrease Consistency by 10 and Defensive Roles by 5):

You should be able to do it with the Updater and some office-program. You can export all player attributes and then put that info in an attribute_update file (needs to remove some things, but it is easily done by copy-paste)
Then you could sort the players by the attribute(not sure if that is even needed) and I think there should be someway to raise/lower every player in that att with some sort of cell-calculation. I don't have the know-how of Excel and similar programs but that should be rather easily done.
If it can't be done in either the exported attributes-file or the attribute_update file then they info could easily be copied into a regular Excel(or whatever Office program you use), edited and copied back

Yeah, I decreased the goalie consistency, but wasn't satisfied. The thing is that I don't really want to change the other players, because I fear it would... how do I put this... "devalue" good players (??). I mean, if I raise consistency of all forwards by 50%, I'd get tons of players that perform perfectly every game. But the fun is having a talented forward, who can't hack it on most nights. Making all defenders more inconsistent would make offensive minded blueliners much more ineffective, which wouldn't help things.
@Manimal: Yes, I tried to get this done. I exported the player.dat as a csv file and was actually able to remove all other players except the goalies. I then tried to mass edit the whole potential ability column, but couldn't make it work. I only have LibreOffice and -- more importantly -- my Excel knowledge is non-existant.

Try decreasing Def Role. That'll affect on the defensive aspect of the players' game, whilst leaving their offensive skills intact.

Okay, I figured something out with LibreOffice. When I tried to re-import the attributes via the Updater I ran into a problem, because the csv spreadsheets and the exported csv files do not match. But I deleted/added the necessary columns and it worked. I also started a game without problems. Nice, thanks guys. Now I might create a new fantasy world until FHM is sorted out
Edit: I reckon it is not possible to mass edit nationalities? I haven't found them anywhere in the spreadsheets.

Hi. I have one problem ,forward and defenseman stats looking quite good ,but goalie stats is too low ,best goalie about 0.92 % ,how to increase this stats but don't decrease forward and defenseman stats? I'm using V method for everything.

It's a bit of a fine balancing act. If you increase the goalies' stats you'll inevitably reduce the scoring level.
Perhaps try increasing the Consistency of both goalies and forwards?
