You can do an "e-cheque" using Paypal. I don't think you need a credit card to do that - you just need a bank account.

I saw that bulletin on Popo about really needing VIPs. I might do it for a bit. I'm supposed to be saving money for the wedding but I might do it.

As band leader, this can be alot of help, with gig booking and default setlist. *now you're supposed to be ashamed

This weekend I was ready to paid those 30 bucks but I choked at the very last minute!
It's like 2 coffees less a month for a year... I can live with less cafein in my vein. lol

Their ask for help was what motivated me to pay for a three month subscription. To be honest, $9 is pretty darn cheap and it is for three months (a lot can happen in three months in Popo). They're awarding an "I support Popo" achievement for all those that join VIP from now on. I checked the rarity of this achievement and it appears I'm the first to get it

Back from TBL haitus

As I've told people doing Popo for me is like my theater work since I play as April it's all like character study to me and I can do it without taxing/turning on my brain at all really. So being active there is kind of a braindead passtime for me, it's coming here and having to put together a reasonably intelligent post that takes me getting my brain motoring and I've been running at distinctly low brain power of late.
Anyhows, to follow up on some things here:
Paris is the land of the insane salary... this is due to their pay percentages beign hugely out of whack with the rest of the Popoworld. For example the most I can pay a tattoist in London is 1850 but I think it's like 3200 in Paris. Thus being why I don't have a parlor in Paris lol.
I really do suggest people snag VIP, it's very cheap relatively and $9 for three months is totally worth it. Especially now that you can all have phones and call people to keep up your relationships. Also, The First Bank of April Sherwood can then transfer you money directly
As for April, she's adopted her girlfriend's daughter Scarlet and she's out touring with us in TDG. It's been fun because she is the same age as my RL niece. And again, character study it's fun playing a little kid. April has asked Odelia to marry her and Ode's band Avalanche is like #40 in ModRock and will be touring with Hydra as well.
Miss April Ink has reached five locales: London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Barcelona and Istanbul. The Madrid/Instanbul locations carry the others pretty much but combined they clear around 125 grand a week I'd say? Eventually there will be 7, with addition of NY and Sao Paolo I think.
TDG is rockin!! We're needed to refresh our repertoire as the songs we've been playing are losing popularity but hey, we've been playing them for popoyears so not bad

We just released our first full-length album and our new 'holiday' single and the album sold around 50k and the single around 170k! So the band made like 800k+ from those two releases just from the first week so yes this is why it's always easiest to make money with a band
We've sold 6k plus tickets at $15 in some locations on our current Tour swing

It would seem that CatchUp has joined the Popo Dev Team:
Popomundo Community News wrote:Popomundo Heart Montreal
Not only is Montreal the cultural centre of the French speaking North America, it's also the winner of 24 Stanley Cup Championships. TWENTY FOUR! Just in case anyone wondered why we didn't add Ottawa...

Well, nice to have another N.A. city I guess, and I know some TBLers will be quite happy with this addition. Welcome Montreal et les habitants!

Hope he put "Tremblay", "Bouchard" or "Gingras" as family names

I was hoping for Samsonov, Lupien, Engblom, Houle...but if you have a Tremblay, can you have a Roy?"
{flees popo thread since does not actually play, in fear of fading to black television screen with the song "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey playing in the background}

Don't even get me started on that Sopranos finale, batdad!
As nice as it is to see another Canadian city added to the game, I would've expected something a little more geographically spread out. I would've figured Vancouver if anything. I'm just glad we already got our World Tour achievement before they added it!
Oh yeah, I finally went ahead and got the 3 month VIP package too.

I'm now the proud owner of a Club in Montreal!!!
Officially it's a metal club but for now it doesn't have any genre yet.
Anyone willing to play in during my grand opening??
Also, Justin Ramsay offered me a job as CEO at Plutonium Metal Records.

Things are going on real fast.
Minty: How do we manage to raise genre and club rating??

I finally sign up as a VIP and now they're changing the business owning rules in a week. I was going to save up some cash and try to start a company. It doesn't look like that'll be happening! Any idea what they're going to make you do to own a business now?

Holydogg: To raise a club genre, you have to let play only bands of that genre. For example, if you want to become a club with a strong metal genre (and i know you want!

), you have to let play only (or at least mainly) metal bands. The bigger the proportion is, the stronger you are in this genre, and the better you are for the bands who play this genre.
Hope it helps
B72: I don't know how it'll work now... i don't even know why they changed this.

Maybe you should have answers in the popo-forums.

Yeah, I'm sure they've got plenty of talk about the changes over at the Popo forums. I just tend to avoid those forums like the plague. I don't like the interface they use. They should check out TBL for an idea how to run a great forum!

by holydogg
Bruins72: I agree, I didn't like their interface. Not userfriendly at all.
Shadd666: Nice!! I already got 3 gigs booked (and a promised 4th eventually) I've send maybe 20 invites or so. Hopes many will agree
Even if they're aren't metalhead, TDG are cordially welcomed as well any TBLers willing to play a first time in MTL

So Minty if Miss April is interested, just tell me the date!
Grand opening: July 5th with Brain-Storm as
meisters of ceremonies.

B72: yup, their interface is ugly and not userfriendly. That's why i also avoid to go there. However, it's the place to be for big questions like the one you asked for... And well, Popo is not about being a forum, so it's not such a problem if their forum is awful; at least the game is fun
Holydogg: instead of sending straight invitations, i would suggest you to message the band leaders that you have a club in Montreal and that they are invited at the date that best fits for them

Some may already have tours booked, and the initial date of your invitation may not fit with their schedule

I'll ask personnally to big bands, but all the others I send them invites, but I check their booking before and try to find a date fitting well. They're alotta metal band crawling around and I wonder if it is becaume New Year but popo is awfully laggy today.
With so many booking with Peter McGinnes' Metal I did yesterday for Brain-Storm, maybe he'll want to play in my club with his band

I don't know if it would be wise for a non-metal act like The Dead Generation to play there. I think it hurts our reputation and rankings to play lower rated clubs and ones that are for our genre. Minty would know for sure but I seem to remember something about this.

Good luck with your club, Holydogg! I'd come play but I'm in Paris and also a jazz act!
I started my own company today when I saw the news about VIPs losing the ability to do so. I don't quite have the money yet to purchase a decent business so I'll keep saving for the time being.
I too think the Popo Forums are awful. I really think they could make the system a lot more user-friendly. It doesn't need any advanced features; just a basic forum would be great. I only use the forums to request a doctor when yet another noob gives me a cold

Out of the blue, I've been sent a message offering me a record contract. Should I be wary of this? The guy that sent me this was
José Luis Álvarez Barrio.
Hi there!
Are you intrested in a record contract? We are a new promising record company in New York who are trying to promote uprising Jazz artists all over the world.
We have a record company in New York, "Underground Productions", which will be free for you to record tracks.
We offer a 65%-100% deal, meaning that 65% of the profit of your record sales will go to the artist, you! This way we want to support upcoming groups like yours by investing in them.
You will also get a 100% reduction (free!) on the record studio, so you will be able to record your tracks for free!
If you are intrested, let me know.
Greetings,
José Luis

holydogg: So you're doing it the right way
Archi: I tend to be always sceptic when i receive an unwanted contract

However, it sounds logical that a new company tries to make their way on the record business. The deal itself (65-100) is good compared to what you can have in the game. Keep in mind however that you can record your tracks for free ONLY in their studio, that's to say actually ONLY in NY

Contracts are usually one year (real life time) deals, that's to say around 6 popo-years. They don't mention any producer, so you would have to bring someone to record your tracks if you want to make quality records... However, don't worry too much about that, i'm a 5* producer
Question is: do you think you'll soon have songs to record in order to release a single? Are you famous enough in some cities to have decent sales? If you're close of that, you may sign now... Else, you'd better wait IMO

Minty should certainly help you more about record contracts, as TDG is already in business for a while

I've personnally asked to about 10 of the biggest metal bands in popoworld.
If only one say yes, I'll considered that as a victory!
Speaking contracts, since I'm now CEO at Plutonium metal, so Shadd I think our recording future is maybe solved!

I think so
It would be nice if one of the big bands would come to play in your club

However, they'll certainly wait a bit, letting time to Montréal to grow so they'll have more fans (and more money, fame, groupies, etc

)
