When picking events look at what they rely on. Pick ones that match your skills from the generals or the ones for your genre. Hard to get more than 2 to 3 stars for an out of genre skill.
Some events classification are discutable. Many of Rock and Modern Rock events can also be in Punk Rock or Metal, the best exemple are body surfing and moshpit.
Also, many genres get very very lame or few events. Hopes the dev will upgrade those eventually. Some weeks ago they added many new events.
That's good to know, I'll start learning basic dancing to headbang instead of swinging my mic

Bruce Dickinson did that and he's one metal demi-god...

Well, you can do them but you need to then skill up on the genre they are listed in
by popo
I know they are total chaos, and really I think they should ALL be able to be done by any genre really... but that's another discussion for another day heh.
As it works in popo, you need the genre skill for whatever a skill is classified under. The penalty was lowered but it's enough to knock you down enough even with 5 stars in a skill to give you only 2 stars in it or 3 when performing it in a show instead of the 3 or 4. It's annoying, but that's how it works
With 5 stars in your genre the difference between getting 3 or 4 stars is usually your skill level in basic showmanship.

So if I understand well, let's say by exemple: if I want to burn a flag, i need to max out those related skills
AND punk rock?
What weirdos but logical too. Thanks Minty

Yup, Minty is right. We saw this with my character, Palmer Haskins. I took the stage-diving skill and maxed it out. I was only getting 1 or 2 stars. Then I put more stars into showmanship and it went up some. It still wasn't quite right. I had both of these at 5 stars and still wasn't getting much out of them. So I learned Rock (I already had Punk Rock maxed). I got that one up to 3 stars and all of a sudden my stage-dives were were at 4 stars. I'm sure they'll get better if I ever get around to putting a couple more stars into Rock. Stage-diving is also dependent on my health. If my health is a little low, the event doesn't turn out as well.

I just bought my first locale - a gym in Paris. I've called it Jazz Hands Gym! If anyone's in Paris feel free to pop by and have a work out!
Anyone have any tips on how to improve my locales' condition? Also, is it important to have a CEO? Am I going to have to employ one to improve its condition?

Your locale need to be fully staffed, local worker being better at work than other.
Check in PopoHelp for employees infos in the Enterprise section. Every kind of worker get a "weight" in the locale quality. If you are short in workforce, hire some turkish noob cheap labor

in the employee search engine type "%%%%%%%%%%%%%%" and you'll get a truck load of unemployees, mostly newbie. Give em minimal salary but try to keep your locale's city workforce in there with better paycheck ^^

The name is hysterical!
You've got to make sure you offer the "Jazz-ercise" workout!

I don't think I will go to that gym....

I am scared of "jazz hands" ever since Will and Grace....Not sure if Calv, Agent Bald Duck know about that show though.

2 strikes! One for being in the Popo thread - where you don't belong - and two for mentioning Will and Grace!

Yeah, you lost me at "Will and Grace". I guess since you're married you can talk your way out of that one by saying your wife makes you watch it. It's still pretty sketchy though!
Didn't SNL have something to do with Jazz Hands too? I'm thinking Will Ferrell but I could be wrong.

I'm quite proud of my Popo locale creation! Is this ok for the locale description:
"Come strengthen those jazz hands and wrists at the jazziest gym in Paris!"

Agreed. And I love the name of the locale as well Agent Duck. TDG will be in Paris soon actually, a day or so, so if you hear a ruckus you'll know we've arrived
You don't need a CEO but you progress will be MUCH slower without one and basically limit you from ever reaching perfect most likely... if you did it would take a very long time and you'd probably not sustain it for long. I don't know about how gyms are paid as you get money without people actually doing anything at the gym, there is a collective city pool of income for hotels and gyms that is divided up but I don't know how/to what percentage.

I'm with the other guys. Go with the top one.
I tell you... I almost expected to see a person in a sparkling silver sequined outfit with a top hat and cane, doing some dance number.

I nearly did something based on
this!
I'll go for the piano one then
Minty - I was wondering whether it'd be worth me getting a CEO. I had a look at the top rated gym in Paris and they don't have a CEO. I was thinking of building up my profits and then maybe I'll take over as CEO (sorry - I may have to leave Miss Ink's Enterprise

) because it'll ensure I have a quality and reliable CEO.

I just released my first record! Hooray

It's had "good" reviews so I'm hoping it'll do fairly well. Since I recorded the single, I've become an expert in Basic Record Production so hopefully my future records will be even better

Nice Archi
Brain-Storm is also on a recording process, but it will be somewhere in August. We're actually on tour till the end of July, but will have a lot of free time in August to record, jam, and compose, before going to a competitioin in Istanbul, and then back on the road in September-October for a 20 dates tour! Then an other big tour in Novembre to complete our world tour and get the achievement points

The Dead Generation just wrapped up a warm-up tour we did to get ready for the Hydra tour. We've got about a week off, then we film a new video and do a show in NY before we head out on the Hydra tour. That one should be a blast!
We've also got a new single coming out at Popo X-Mas time. We worked with 10-star producer, Michael Gardner and got some amazing results. Plus, the new songs we've been getting out of Cyril have been incredible! April's stuff has been getting even better too. I'm thinking this next single will be our best yet!

What does it takes to be over 5*? I think you have to teach the skill to 100 people to be at 6*, but how it is then? Is it 1* every 100 people taught?
Posted: Thu Jul 19, 2007 3:08 pm
by bruins72
I have no idea how people get beyond 5* in a skill. I didn't know about the extra * from teaching. That's pretty cool! I might have to do some teaching at some point...

Well these tattoos that Miss April does better be worth the $1900 I just shelled out

I popped by Miss April's Barcelona branch and got "sweet and sour pork" in Kanji tattooed on my upper body
Btw, sweet and sour pork in Kanji = 酢豚

LOL! Sweet and Sour Pork? As a tattoo? I love it!
My first tattoo was a rather long one. It ended up costing me around $7,000! I've gotten two more since but they were cheaper.
I'm hoping we'll run into Floyd somewhere while TDG is touring. We both work together at Miss April Ink HQ but I don't think we've met.
