Cooke is too coward to fight Chara, he would try to avoid him at all cost. :-D

Just don't go overboard with a sucker punch from behind...remember bottom line Bruins, you still need to get 2 points!
Honestly, I'd be okay with them sacrificing 2 points if they "sent a message".

As Philou said, Cooke is too much of a coward to fight Chara. I suppose Chara could always thrash him and toss him around like a rag-doll like Neely did to Claude Lemieux that time.

TBH, I don't think anyone wants to fight Chara. :-p

I remember one of the Leafs-Sens games where Chara was just plummeting McCabe. Classic. :-D

Well it's either Cooke fighting Chara or Lucic sending Cooke through the glass. As I posted earlier, I just don't want anyone to do something stupid as retaliation.

Getz-Tam being a jerk does not excuse Cormier. Both have proven they have no respect is all I am saying.

I am going to risk a fight here. Some of this talk about retribution on Cooke must sound awfully familiar to those living in Vancouver and Cooke himself. Chara or Lucic go after Cooke you could very well end up in the Bert-Moore situation. Would rather see the Bruins be classy and just win the game. Some comments here and on other boards are really really over the top and outlandish. Yes Cooke is an arse but going and cheap shotting him or sid or Malkin is just as stupid. Be physical and win the game. Stay clean and do not be as dumb as Cooke.

IMO if anyone does anything to Sid or Geno will probably get a long suspension. The NHL won't be happy if you take out one of the league's best players.

But the players will police themselves. I'm sure the NHL will have a chat with both clubs to make sure another Bert-Moore situation doesn't happen again. But Cooke better be prepared to take hard legal hits every time he's on the ice.

Oh my I really don't want a situation like this to happen. NEVER. Me, I just want the Bruins to pass a message. A big hit or a fight, that should do the trick. :check:

I'm just glad that when it comes to this type of thing, the league is always one huge step ahead of everyone by taking swift, appropriate, well-planned action.

:mebbe:

There have been some more important issues, though, which have been dealt with, thank god.

I never said anything about a cheap shot. I just want him to get his butt kicked. If he won't stand up and fight like a man, then they should rough up one of his non-fighter teammates.

Nobody wants something like the Moore situation to happen again. But honestly, if the league had stepped up and done the right thing, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

I have to say I'm with batdad on that one. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of what Cooke did. That was horrible and there're way too many head shots this season. There should be something done about that, before somebody ends up six feet under.

The point is, if I recall correctly, Moore was also challenged to a fight, multiple times, and he declined. What if Cooke declines? When you have your players going after somebody, with tempers already running high, there's a chance of somebody losing it, just like Bertuzzi did. That should be avoided at all costs. If somebody fought Cooke right after he hit Savard, it would have been understandable. But you shouldn't go after him the next time the Bruins meet the Pens, with anger and tension building up over the time. No, there's too big a chance of somebody overdoing it. Hit hard, hit home, but stay clean.

But you have mentioned one interesting thing, B72. The Cooke situation should have been taken care of by the league. This is the main issue here, the lack of penalty for that hit and no suspension afterwards. The hockey's too dangerous a sport to allow hits like that, and I hope somebody understands it before something worse happens.

My answer to this is that Bertuzzi is an idiot. I don't think any player will go THAT far by hitting somebody from behind like he did. This was a dirty and coward trick to hit from behind like that. Even Lucic wouldn't do that. :-p

Actually, Moore did oblige. He fought Matt Cooke!

Yep. He sure did Manimal. But it was not good enough. This is the problem when tempers and emotions are involved. The more the players get riled up the more dangerous it becomes. I know noone really wants the Bert-Moore stuff to happen again, but I can tell you from listening and watching what is going on in Boston and with the fans of the Bruins...that it sounds a whole lot like what went on here in this city a few years ago.

Of course seeking revenge is stupid. But this team has stayed classy and professional for too long. It doesn't work in the NHL. There's a point when eventually even the most reasonable people don't care about being reasonable anymore. That line might have been crossed. Did anybody feel sorry for Samuelsson after Domi's sucker punch ?
As for hard hit stay clean, I agree, and after the league deemed Cooke's hit clean I sure hope the Bruins know the standard.

Ovechkin did another dorty trick today. He hit Campbell from behind and even if he was far from the board it was really dangerous for Campbell's head I think. Ovy will certainly be suspended, I hope so, for this. He needs more than 2 games for that, at least a 5. It's seems he didn't understand the first time, I don't really know what it was thinking, this was stupid. :dunno:

actually...I am not sure he will be suspended. It was from the side a bit...it was a bit dirty but it was not as bad as some other ones lately. I think he should be suspended, but I am not sure he will be.

It wasn't bad yes, but the way Campbell fell, he could have end up the head right into the board and that will have been bad for sure. At least I think he's gonna be ok. What I didn't understand is why Ovy hit him like this, it was weird to me. He was skating like rocket, Campbell didn't have the puck, then bam he hit him 7-8 foots from the board. If I was there I would have think that the board is near and that I shouldn't hit him like this because it could cause something dangerous. I know it's not the same telling from doind it but.... :dunno:

Coach Q said CAmpbell not going on road trip..so he is out for a bit. And yeah I know the hit is a bit off, but I am not sure league will suspend. After all...he basically missed the whole game anyway (this is how Colin Campbell will justify not suspending him)

Definitely a fifteen yard penalty. Have to wonder what exactly he was thinking.

(I watched the clip without sound; is it fair to guess that the play went unpenalized?)

That's a very dirty play by Downie, putting a leg behind another player's knee like that and intentionally trying to injure him I hope he gets a quite long suspension for that.
