Just not enough depth in DET for the run. Filppula leaving in the what, 1st period, was probably the final nail. Brunner's been playing hurt apparently according to Babcock after the game (which surprised everyone). We knew Cleary was playing pretty hurt and often wasn't more than just a warm body on the ice. The Quincey-Smith pairing has been an absolute trainwreck (whoever decided pairing a young, inexperienced d-man with one that's not as inexperienced but constantly makes poor decisions anyways really needs a good reaming out), but there's just nobody else to have in there right now.

Everyone ready to hand the Cup to Chicago really needs to really think now though. With DET's terrible defensive corps the Hawks still got by with the skin of their teeth. LA's defense is better than DET's, they might make pretty short work of CHI unless the Hawks really show something. LA also has more depth up front.

True but Detroit also have one of the best head-coach, if not the best, in the NHL. Players listen to him, even if they're not the strongest team, players gives their 110% for him. That certainly helps IMO. Detroit always had a good hockey system even if their team wasn't the best sometimes, that's why I hate them so much.

Seeing how Quick is goaling though, the Hawks will need to shoot ALOT on him if they want to win.

Ugh - Game 1 wasn't so good for my Pens. I originally picked the Bruins in 6, but if the Pens play like that again, it'll be Bruins in 4.

Dallas Stars got a new logo/jersey. I think it looks nice and updated. :-)

I agree with the people who say they aren't awful, but look very minor pro-ish. Central league in particular. I also agree with those saying they should have ignored silver and gone with gold instead.

I really don't like it, it's not dark enough. Logo is alright but nothing THAT special.

That Bruins vs Penguins game last night was nuts. The OTs were so intense! That's what I love about playoff hockey. Gregory Campbell showed huge balls last night. He blocked a shot, which broke his leg. He manage to get to his feet and help kill the penalty before finally getting off the ice (to a huge ovation from the crowd).

As great as it was to watch that game, I hate the later start time (8PM rather than 7 or 7:30 like usual) and then going into double OT. By the time the game was done, I was too wound up to go to sleep right away. I was until a little after 1AM. I'm exhausted at work today.

The Bruins domination is amaizing. I was expecting a tight series but Crosby and cie don't seem to be present at all. At least yesterday they looked like they were better but it wasn't enough.

You should consider yourself lucky. Try following NHL games from Europe. Most games don't start until 1

Yeah, I guess you're right. I think if I were in your shoes I'd just record the games and avoid any sort of sports news until I had the chance to watch.

If the Rangers would ever make the finals then I might do that. Otherwise, I'll settle for the highlights

Recording the games most be so boring. Everyone knows the score, you're trying to avoid the news, the newspapers and sports websites. :-D I know I wouldn't be able.

It's not so hard, if you don't watch the telly. I often watch games on rerun, because the TV channel that airs NHL here in Finland (and I believe it's the same channel in Sweden) tends to show reruns of the games during the day.

For me I can watch second and almost the whole third period of Sharks games before I go to school in mornings. Weekend games sometimes start at 23.00 :-D

I know but for me, what I really don't like is the feeling that the game is done since a day or two. This isn't the same hype for me knowning I'm watching a game that is already done and I'm probably alone watching it. :-D

I watched most of the Bruins/Penguins game 3 double OT Bruins win. A good/enjoyable game, Penguins played well IMO (especially Malkin, and Crosby at times too). Campbell's efforts on a PK with a broken leg were memorable...old time hockey! Rask played very well...and there were multiple goalposts at both ends...good game! Looks like we'll see the Bruins team in the Final

And now tonight the Kings try to tie up their series with the Hawks...will the Kings again win at home?!

This Stanley Cup final will be interesting! Both team are very complete and play well. I would love the Haws to win but I think Boston will beat them. Chicago is a little bit the Pittsburgh of the west but with more weight. Pitt got screwed because the Bruins were too big for them but I think Chicago will be better, well this isn't hard to be better than what the Pens did.

Since my Pens are toast, I'm going to cheer on the B's. I'm picking them in 6.

That was a tough loss for the B's last night. I don't think Rask had much of a chance to stop that winning goal. It took a couple redirects before getting past him.

I am so tired today! I didn't get to sleep until after 1AM because of that game. :help:

Not NHL playoff-related but don't know where else to put it right now:

Stars prospect Scott Winkler has been found dead in Norway:
http://blogs.gazette.com/collegehockey/ ... ead-at-23/

Oilers prospect Kristians Pelss has drowned in Latvia:
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=425379

The two stories hit Twitter within a couple minutes of one another. I don't even...

Sucks doesn't it? Now do that for the entire playoffs every year... it blows. Honestly for a 3OT game, 1am wasn't bad. 1am is roughly when a 10pm Eastern game in LA or VAN would just end in regulation. It could have been much worse...

That was one of the weirder goals I've ever seen. Roszival's shot was incredibly-weak, and then it deflects twice to get by Rask. There was no way that game was ending other than with a goal like that. I honestly thought there might be controversy involved with the eventual GWG too but, that was obvious and "clean" if you can call it that.

Even if the Hawks by a miracle win the Cup I hope Rask will get the Conn Smythe. Holy cow he's so dominant!
