Think I'm gonna re-start with the newest update.

OK after 60 games im on 7th place in the conference which is something i couldnt dream off after 1st 20 games...my goalies are much better..well Emery is much better and is now just about over 90% saves while also Mason getting better. If there wont come to some dramatic fall of form i expect the playoffs....but im already thinking ahead of next season thats why i resign Del Zotto for two more years (2M + 2,5M) and Bellemare (1,3M + 1,5M). I know i might didnt do the best deal at Bellemare but I just cant come at the position that i wont have any players or i will be forced to trade a very good player for few not as good just to fill the gap in lines. All the players are asking unrealistic wages..I decided that i wont exted with all 3 enforcers (Scott, Rinalod and Stortini) and seek thoughness on waiver and UFA or something. Question is also what to do with Emery..really have it as 1st G at this moment but shall i give him 2m or more for next season? I might have to...
Negotiating with players loaned to AHL is the same very bad for me..they all want a double or triple more then they are making it right now.

Vinny and Vande Velde and Colaiacovo are at the moment not in the team. They get a chance when someone gets injured or if my 4th line bad boys get into trubles

A question: as i havent playd 2007 ...do players drop their demands a lot when they are close to expiry their contracts?

You guys should go back to the rules you had in the Pittsburgh challenge, this is the 2nd time I've tried to read all the rules and it's just as ridiculous as the last time I looked. I really want to do the challenge, but i have no interest in taking the time to figure it all out, or do the maintenance required to prove that I've followed the rules. Just saying, the Pittsburgh rules kept me from acquiring the superstars that make things easy, but was easy enough to follow that I was able to just start up a game and go.

I disagree, these rules are alot better. With that said they could be simplified a little and there is also some things that need to be added (cap on trades per season, 3 sounds about right?)...

What do you mean by maintenance? The screenshots? It's 3-4 screenshots per season, takes about 3 minutes to take and upload

Thanks for your opinions Eric. As we learn more about EHM EA the rules to challenges may change yet again. B72 does what he can to make these fair and fun and exciting for all, and quite frankly IMHO this is the best set of rules, albeit for EHM 2007 game that we have had yet. God I can trade whenever I want after year 1? No way I would have allowed that when I was running things. Lord you should have seen the last set of rules B72 and I did with our first crack at homegrown...if you think these are complex?



ANd if you don't want to show you have followed the rules...no way in hell I am believing that you did follow them. SO instead of whining about them...don't bother playing. We won't miss you.

I think these rule sets are very intimidating when you try to figure it out...but are alot simpler once you actually get playing.

For example the Core Player sheet can seem hard at first but its a great way to make sure you keep that "core" in tact while also forcing you to play a home grown.

As far as trades go there are alot of rules but its actually pretty easy to find trades

Been reading the boards for years but decided to register and start my first ever challenge, so excited! One question though, there is no mention of UFAs playing in Europe in the new rules? In the old rules it states that "If the player is from Europe and will not transfer during the UFA signing period, take a screenshot of the news item where they accept the contract." under rule 7.2. Is this still the case in the new challenge? There's some tasty looking C-category players there who will be able to join in the summer of 2015. Also, if I sign such a player now but he doesn't join until next summer, he still counts as the Year 1 free agent, right?

If he joins before July 1 i would presume he counts for season 1 UFA...

So as long as he agrees to the contract during the free agency period set by the rules and joins before the end of the season as defined by the rules, I should be fine Also is the newest version of the core roster rules and player tiers the 7.2 found in the gameplay rules topic? Sorry for all the questions, just don't want to accidentally break the rules. On a gameplay related note, the team seems pretty solid, a good top-6 and a bottom-6 filled with defensive players and Vinny Defense is fine too, not too sure about Mason in net though.. We'll see how it goes!

It depends on why. If you had a corrupted game, you could restart it. We'd just have to let Archi know to reset any stats you might have entered. If you were fired and within budget, you can just add your GM back in. If you just want to re-start because you don't like the results you got... that's not really allowed.

I do "join rush" for some of my D-men, the ones with great skating ability... Usually accompanied with a higher backcheck to balance it up, and a very defensive partner...

On this challenge I haven't been able to get any of my tactics to work. Usually (back in EHM 2007), I have most of my defensemen set to join the rush unless they're really slow and have no offensive ability at all. Then again, I usually go with a very offense-oriented style of play.

I've been having a hard time getting into this challenge. I just really don't like this team, so it's been a struggle. I've been contemplating doing a non-challenge game where I "blow up" the Bruins. Sim to the end of the season, fire all or most of the staff, deal off all of the older players and overpaid players, and then rebuild with youth.

If you just get through the first season it gets alot more fun bruins, atleast that's how it was for me Can get rid of some of the useless guys and get some fun guys in

Yes. Except maybe on PP for Karlsson. Rushing D men in my experience do not help you in this game. They just get caught and you are screwed.

I am slowly advancing through offseason towards beginning of October.
So far I made two trades:
I sent N. Grossmann to Nashville for Kevin Fiala - hope he will develop in TOP6 player in the future - he has good speed, deking & stickhandling, very determined, however has to improve his shooting skills and defense. But I believe in him.
Target of second trade was to acquire TOP2 defenseman - I went after A.Edler from Vancouver - packaged there Nick Schultz and Oliver Lauridsen. I feel little sorry for Schultzee, but there was no other option possible to get Edler, who I hope will solidify our defense for next couple of years. Unfortunately, his cap hit is 5 M/y and therefore another moves will have to be done. Lauridsen despite great size did not fit into my plans. I hope that Morin will develop well and will start to play for Flyers in two years.
Now I am slightly over salary cap, but with expiring contracts of Voracek, B. Schenn, Couturier and few others some trades have to be done in the first half of season. This cap situation is making me worried.

For back-up goalie position I have signed Andrew Hammond (UFA - C). I am planning to sign another "C" tier player from Europe before the end of Season 2.

From my prospects pool I signed Morin & Goulbourne (both will spend this season in Lehigh Valley) and Erik Gustafsson (who will play in my 3rd D-pair and hope to utilize him in PP as well).

Laughton will be used as my HG in Season 2.

Unfortunately I was not able to move Vinny.. Will have to stay with us another season, hope he starts going. Therefore, will have to trade Umberger (4,5 m/y) and probably Luke Schenn (he is becoming UFA and already has cap hit 3,6 m/y). As both are ranked as "B" tier, they will be swapped for some promising prospects.

Another short note - I signed Sanheim and Aube-Kubel as well, but for some reason (probably age restrictions) they are not available to play for Lehigh Valley, so I have to send them back to Juniors (therefore one year contract wasted) before the beginning of October.
And forgot to mention, that I signed also Sanford (drafted in Season 1 as 19 years old) and sent him to Lehigh Valley.

Are you sure about the contract thing? Think i read in some thread that this game slides entry level contracts

I like your offseason moves if you can make the cap work Not completely sold on Edler but what you gave away was "cheap"

About Edler - yeah, I know, but I was not able to land any offer for other defender on (at least) his level.. Still think he is improvement for our defense. Hopefully he will do better job than AMac (they have similar cap hit).
So far in exhibition games, MDZ was playing very poorly in top defensive unit, so it looks that Streit will have to cover it for the beginning of Season 2.

I basically did what you did to land a D-man, i just used a better offer i guess i could land Brodie for Raffl (85 goals in 2 seasons) and Akeson It hurt to lose Raffl but i was so sick of having a pants D and with Streit getting older and older i just felt like i had to do it Hope Edler works out for you.
