2nd season was terrible, but I did play with an Under 21 team for half of the season. I'm going to trade every 27 years or older (3rd season), and get better youngsters than I have...

Done with the camp season 2, Senyshyn, Zboril and Kylington all had great camps, but since i'm a patient (call me Babcock) guy i sent them all to Providence anyway ;) Also sent Brown and Keller back to Windsor, they lit it up last season and hopefully they will do the same this season, neither were eligable for AHL and neither were ready for NHL. I'm down to 23 players right now but i want to send one C down, problem is that all 3 of Khokhlachev, Griffith and Phillips have to go through waivers and i already used my underage trade, i'll probably gamble that the one i choose goes through waivers. The team going into season 2 looks like this (lines are not 100% set):

Marchand-K.Hayes-Pastrnak
Beleskey-Zibanejad-J.Hayes
Lindberg-Spooner-Connolly
Kempe-Khokhlachev-Randell
Griffiths/Phillips

Morrow-Faulk
Krug-K.Miller
Skjei-C.Miller
Trotman

Mrazek
Subban

I haven't fully decided if i'm splitting the Hayes brothers or not and also not sure about the D-pairs, last season i went with equal to manage Faulks ice time, if i'm doing the same this season then he will play with Skjei and Morrow with C.Miller. Providence were weak last season, this season i expect them to be strong, Vladar will be in net, i have a strong D with Kylington, Zboril and Fabbro. Also some good forwards with Senyshyn, DeBrusk, Grundström, Forsbacka Karlsson and whoever i send through waivers (if they pass).

Edit: Decided to send Phillips through waivers and he passed, so he's in Providence now.

2016 NHL Entry draft

15. Dante Fabbro-RD Seattle Thunderbirds WHL-Kid looks like a stud. Scouts compare him to (and this is a good laugh) a more talented version of Rafael Diaz. Yeah, no kidding.
20. Logan Brown-C-Windsor Spitfires OHL-Scouts say he reminds them of Eric Staal, yet he is already WAY bigger.
53 Tyson Jost-LW/RW/C-Penticton Vees BCHL-committed to Harvard. Scouts say this dude is like MIlan Lucic or Andrew Ladd, with a smaller frame. I like this kid.
62. VItaly Novikov LW/RW-Khimik (Rus2)-Kid has some kind of wheels and is a big boy. My scouts all loved him and think he is the next coming of Chris Kreider.
75. Ben Gleason-LD-Hamilton Bulldogs OHL--SMall mobile OHL dman, American. I dunno. He just looks okay to me. The Nate Prosser comparison...ouch.
105. Ingemar Akesson-Hallsberg -RW-J20 Swe J20-3-BIG MAN 6'5 207, Scouts say bigger version of Semin or Louie Eriksson. Skates and shoots. That is about all.
135. Tye Graham-LD-London Knights OHL--Good size, GREAT SKATER> Scouts say is a more talented Calvin De Haan. This guy looks like Dante's future partner. Great pick here!
155. Petrus Palmu-RW-Owen Sound Attack OHL--MIDGET...but dang this young kid scores. 43 goals for Owen SOund as a rookie. 79 points in 56 games. Big gamble, big payday???
165. Bartek Bison-RW/LW Prince George Cougars WHL--Big man, opposite gamble to Petrus. Okay skater, from the Netherlands which is awesome. Scored 35 in PG as 18yr rook!!
195. Eemil Visuri-C-Jukkerit Fin2 league--Just like alot of what I see in this kid, and he could be interesting. We shall see.

I drafted him too. My scouts warned me that he may have trouble adjusting to North America though.

Okey, back on track now after the crash.

Draft was good in the early rounds and I picked loads of promising centers, in line with my "draft the centers" approach I wanted to try out. I also got a potential stud goalie. Later rounds were very meh.

15. Logan Brown - Huge C that I hope will improve his scoring.
20. Logan Fitzpatrick - Stud goaltender
53. Jonathan Ang - All-offence C, might be a liability on the ice.
75. Nathan Noel - Small playmaking C
105. Eemeli Visuri - Physical defensive flashy C who havent shown any scoring ability
135. Petrul Palmu - Dwarfish C drafted only for his scoring last season, most likely a bust.
155. Chad Krys - D who makes my scouts really confused.
165. Simon Stransky - Small LW that was almost a ppg in WHL.
195. Bartek Bison - Big Dutch(!) scoring winger.

Lineup looks bad, really bad. Projected lines:

Domingue
Subban

Will probably go with Domingue as he is more proven and borderline starter potential. Have anybody even heard of that guy before?

Klefbom - Morrow
Krug - Miller
Murray - Johns
Davidson

Incredibly young D squad but they look really good for the future, especially with Zboril and Siegenthaler down the pipeline. This is why I didnt feel like drafting defencemen.

Marchand - Spooler - Pastrnak
Dont laugh at it... :(

Belesky - Khokhlachev - Yakupov
Forza Russia!

Janmark - Kemppainen - Hayes
Ma tough bois.

Connolly - Griffiths - Galiev
Two-way heroes.

Randell, Rinaldo

So funny re the draft. Look at Visual Darkness vs me.

Both draft Logan Brown (him 15, me 20), both draft Visuri (him 105, me 195), both draft Palmu (him 135, me 155), both draft Bison (him 195, me 165).....INSANITY.

Edit: as for staff who retire...I never sign any staff members older than 55. And that is why.

I drafted Visuri pretty early. I drafted him in the 4th round, 105 overall.

I also drafted another guy vd drafted. I drafted Ang in the second round, same pick that vd did. He's been an interesting case. In the off-season a bunch of junior teams were trying to trade for him. He was somebody everyone wanted. He eventually got traded to Sarnia in October. Now in December (and maybe back in late November) I've been seeing news items questioning whether he belongs on his team and criticizing him. Loved to hated, pretty quickly.

It isnt really that weird that I drafted so close to batdad, he is kind of my EHM mentor (dont tell him though) but he wont share his biggest secrets yet. Fantasy hockey in MHL is way too easy now without batdad competing with me for the less obvious stats.

Well, Ang cant defend at all, those kind of players often get a lot of hate.

He's really been terrible at Sarnia too. He's got 4 points in 20 games and he's a -2!

Giving it a try, last challenge I ended up halfway the first season.

I couldn't find if I have to coach myself or not?

October is now out of the way. Record is 3-5-2. PK is leaps and bounds better than it was last season as it is currently in the mid 80s. That will probably change as the season goes on.

PP could be better. I don't think it's the power play itself, but the fact that both Skinner and Pastrnak have struggled mightily.

Both Skinner and Pastrnak are expected to provide a great deal of offence for the team, but both haven't come anywhere near their expected production. In 10 games Skinner has no goals, 3 assists and is a -3. Hopefully he breaks out soon as he is playing well, just not scoring.

Pastrnak has been horrible. He signed a big 4 year contract @ $3.27 million per season after the season was over. In 10 games he has no goals and only 1 assist, and is a -8. I can't send Skinner down, but I can send Pastrnak down. Maybe I should and hopefully he'll get some confidence back.

Despite the losing record, two of those losing games were by 1 goal and two others were shootout losses. I can't help but wonder if Skinner and Pastrnak weren't struggling, those 4 games could be 4 wins for the Bruins.

Two of my picks were named players of the month in their respective leagues. Luke Green (30th overall in 2016) was named the QMJHL Defensive Player of the Month with 4G 13A in 11 games. Dante Fabbro (16th overall in 2016) was named the WHL Player of the Month with 2G 15A in 11 games. I like to hear that, especially coming from two defencemen.

November 1st, 2017...in front of 14 500 shocked and disappointed fans at the Barclays Center...With 3 seconds left to go in regulation time. Jeff Skinner, #53 on the ice, but #1 in the hearts of millions, upon millions of Bruins fans, finally scores his first goal of the season and ties the game. No one is breathing a bigger sigh of relief than Skinner himself.

Bruins lost in a shootout.

Finished the draft, it was interesting in rounds 5-7 with attributes hidden (I'm so used to filtering by work rate and such)

1 (15)- Logan Brown. Big, projected to be a cross between Carter and E. Staal. I'll have a hole down the middle, and I'm hoping that in two or three years he can start to fill it.
1 (20)- Evan Fitzpatrick. Don't need a goalie, but when the top one in the draft falls to you...
2 (32) Clayton Keller. The scary review "A poor man's Bryan Little". But everyone thinks he's a first liner and can finish filling the gap down the middle.
2 (53) Tyler Nother. Good review, but ambitious mercenary doesn't make me feel good if I sign him to a weak team.
3 (75) Ben Gleason. Hopefully I just finished my 5/6 guys in a few seasons.
4 (105) Tye Graham. A more talented De Haan.
5 (135) Mark Skutar. Compared to Dan Girardi. Nice and 22, so he can hopefully help fill out the first couple of seasons rosters.
6 (155) Eemeli Visuri. Could have trouble adapting, so I really wish he had CHL rights so I could send him there. I'm not sure if it woud be better to sign him early and send him to Providence to adjust, or wait until he's NHL ready to even bring him over.
6 (165) Evan Fiala. Good physical ratings (all A's or A-'s), but injury prone. Hopefully his ability to skate is enough to be worth it.
7 (195) Oliver Felixon. The last of the shotgun approach to see how many D-men I can get to at least have the bottom two pairs filled.
