The VERY BEST trade i've done is this (done in the beginning of one of my game with the Canadiens):
To Tampa Bay: Saku Koivu,Mathieu Dandenault & Garth Murray
To Montreal: Vincent Lecavalier & 07 1st round pick (which turned out to be the 3rd overall AND Sam Gagner !

)
Definitively my best ever

That's a bad trade in my oppinion as Bobby Ryan is more than capable of getting 100 points a season.

such a cheese

.....
Vladimir Orszagh has played in the 4 line and Ryan played in the first line! The salary is nearly identically (Ryan Salary 35000 € less and the contract runs 1 year longer

) He is a absolutely bomb!
We speak ourselves after my second win of the Stanley Cup in my second Season in the NHL!

Caps gave up: Joe Thornton
I gave up: Carolinas 2010 1st round pick which turned out to be 28th, they used it to draft someone that my scouts said to be 5th-6th defenceman, My 2011 1st round pick that turned out to be 30th, they used it to get 5-6th defenceman also, my 3rd round pick, Ryan Malone who had got like 90 points in 50 games because he was in same line as Crosby, after 2 years he was in 3rd line of Caps with getting 28 points and -10, and David van der Gulik that retired in middle of season
Now i have had thornton for like 100 games, and he has got over 220 points (last season he got 169

)

Using Lidas most recent DB
St. Louis (me) gets:
Andrei Meszaros
Karrie Ramo
Paul Ranger
Tampa Bay gets:
Manny Legace (pending UFA)
Barrett Jackman
Trent Whitfield (AHL & pending UFA)
Matt Foy (AHL & pending UFA)
Lose about 2.5 mil in salary, fans love it, board loves it, I love it.

Finishing up the second year of my Blues dynasty using Lidas rosters...
I got Scott Neidermeyer on the cheap for Ryan Whitney and then ended up landing Wideman from the Bruins right after that. I've moved Jackman, McKee and Brewer out and managed to replace them with Kronwall and Meszaros. So with my top 5 defenseman all making over 3 mill, and Neider having a 5.7 hit and being the (WAY) oldest... I moved him.
I traded Niedermeyer, Briere and the rights to Landon Ferraro whom I drafted second round last draft for Joffrey Lupul and Jeff Carter from the Flyers.
I got Briere for a package in the first season that included Keith Tkachuk...
I feel I made out good.
Carter is at 5.7 and will be much better in that top center slot than underssized Briere. I dumped almost 11 mill of salary and only took on 7 back.
Woopy.

Yesterday i made this trade wich, although i problably made better trades that i don´t remember, is very happy with.
I play as the Sabres and this was in the off-season between year 2 and 3.
To Senators:
Thomas Vanek, Jhonas Enroth and a Detroits 2nd round pick (wich i aquired in an earlier trade )
To Sabres:
Dany Heatley
Vanek had a great 1st season scoring 102 points and 42 goals, but dropped in year two to 74 points and 36 goals, and sitting on his 7,000,000$ contract (wich Heatley also has), Heatley is a serious upgrade. Since Ryan Miller still is just 30 years old, i figured i would´nt need Enroth for another 5 seasons at least, so not a big loss. And as i had two 2nd round picks, Detroits low-ranked 2nd round pick dont seen like a big loss, especially as the draft that year was kinda weak.
btw, i play with the LidasDB rosters.

does Warrener go on the block usually? just wondering since i got him for 2 7th round picks (2007 and 2009)
I also got Wellwood for Keith Ballard and a 2010 1st rounder
and Grabovsky for a 2008 3rd rounder and a 2011 5th rounder

Did you really give up a 1st rounder and Ballard for Wellwood?
In my game he's put on waivers on a regularly basis!

hmm didn't know that, i don't have internet at home so i can't check the forums when i play, oh well. I was going to ditch ballard anyways, scouts didn't like him, i don't like him, and didn't need him. As for the first rounder, i will live without it (Esp since i have 4 1st rounders in 2009)

Giving Ballard + a 1st for Wellwood definitely doesn't belong in a "Best Trades" thread

You would have got screwed giving either Ballard
or a 1st rounder for Wellwood. Giving both was an epic barrel job. But at least JFJ made a good trade for once.

lets see
Wellwood: 6.67 rating (not great i know) 49 points and i had very little that could play LW or i coulda kept a ballard that put up a 6.45 rating and 19 points when i think one guy on my defense did worse then that...BARELY. Yeah kinda hard to say oh i'll just keep ballard and let him rot and my team get 2 years of having a top 5 pick or bring someone in that actually can help us?
Seriously what is with the Ballard love? the guy did nothing for my team, had little potential compared to my current and Future Defense and was impossible to trade for anything with skill, Wellwood was the best i could get for Ballard and i needed SOMEONE to play on the left wing

It really sounds like a case of this trade was good for you. Which is really what trades are all about. I'm sure it improved your team, but in the general sense Wellwood is kinda of a toss away player.

STL gets:
Anze Kopitar (2 weeks on IR)
LA gets:

Totally caught me off guard that they accepted.

Also traded a 4th rd pick and the rights to Dale Hunt for Alex Pietrangelo. Both are staples on my defensive core now.

Here's a good one:
Traded Scott Neidermeyer at age 36 (still ranked in top 10, actually, top 5) because his 5 mill was too much after I signed Chara... so, traded him to the Blue Jackets for 2 first rounders and a second rounder.
3 days later... he retires. Ha!
