Just finished the first season and I am heading into the draft. I really enjoyed that challenge so far, even though I didn't manage to get to the playoffs. It was a tough fight for a playoff spot until 5 games before the end of the regular season when I decided to get a high draft pick. Mannino, who was even playing awfully in Chicago did the rest

- I got the 5th pick, that's good enough to get a decent 1st rounder I guess. We finished 25th overall and 14th in he Eastern Conference with 75 points. The Devils won the Stanley Cup against Detroit, after finishing off the Caps in the Conference Finals.
I could continiously improve in most areas and think that the 2nd season will be much more successful. The main concern during the season was to burry the chances we created. We fired the 2nd most shots at goal (35.8 /game) but had the worst shooting percentage with 8.74 % of the entire league. We also allowed the highest number of goals (301) and got surprised by a lot of Shorties (14), about 10 of them happened in the first quarter of the season. Our PP was ok (16 %), the pk indeed not (80.2%).
++++ Positive aspects of season 1:
Antropov 46G - 50A - 96P - 401 SOG - 534 Checks - 9.25 AVG
Nigel Dawes was big surprise: 32 G 41 A +11 and 7.44 AVG
Bergfors with 30 G and 91 P 7.78 AVG
Bryan Little was playing impressive on the point of PP1 (instead of Enström): 66 P
Byfuglien (who was paired with Oduya after trying just everything else) 13 G 40 P - 7.99 AVG
although many goals were his fault, because of his huge lack of speed.
3rd checking line overall (Boulton - Thorburn - Eager) - the main reason for opponent's injuries ...
Kane and Bogosian: decent play form the youngsters. Bogo with 34P 7.5 AVG - Kane 22 G 59 P 7.38AVG
--- negative aspects/total deceptions:
Peverley played 52 games, only as 19th forward - so he filled in pretty everywhere. 16P -8 and 6.52 AVG are just awful
Enström: he had 30 P, but created a lot of turnovers - it wasn't fun watching him. 7.12 AVG and a -9 rating, playing on PP2 most of the time and was paired with Bogosian.
Hainsey: He was the biggest deception overall, it doesn't matter with whom I let him play, how do I set his personal tactics - he simply sucks for me, 9 P in 82 games -8 rating and 6.85 AVG - therefor he earns 4.5 M !?!?
Goalies:
I decided to go with Mason and MacIntyre after preseason. MacIntyre was a pretty convincing backup. I am not really surprised by their performance, it's much more the defense's fault than their's. A lot of breakaways were rolling at them, especially during the first 30-40 games, afterwards they got much better as the whole team did. A proof of Mason's skill was the WC in June: He got the starting job, playing 8 games and posting an impressive 0.947 Sv% + 1.13 GAA, helping team Canada to win the WC.
However his stats don't look as good for Atlanta:
in 62 games he went 25-29-4 with a 0.891 Sv% and allowing 3.37 GAA - 7.77 rating
MacIntyre: 25 games 8-9-3 0.884 and 3.64 GAA - 7.52 rating
Pavelec was down in Chigago dominating the AHL: in 60 games he aquired 50 wins and posted a 0.928 Sv%, allowing only 1.79 GAA, additionaly he helped Chigago to lift the Calder Cup with 16 wins in 22 games and a 0.916 Sv% during the playoffs. I hope that he will develop into a Mason like goalie.
Upcoming:
I will get the best what I can get at the draft, no matter what position. Possibly a Center or left defender in the first round.
Regarding the upcoming trade, I think I will try to get either a Center as a lot of you did, or what I personally like more, a really good Sniper, who is capable of burrying all our chances (Hossa, Heatley, such a type of player - we will see who is available).
I also have a few guys who don't want to sign with me anymore and are becoming RFAs. If that problem occures that they get UFAs, may I sign them without counting as UFA signing? I made all the screenshots, just in case I am allowed to?
