Peter Forsberg had another operation done on his bad ankles, and has supposedly completely recovered. He's looking to sign with an NHL team for this season. I've heard he's looking at the Capitals, but with their salary cap being so tight, it might not be where he's going to end up, if anywhere. He signed a week-long contract with Modo Hockey, and has had 3 goals in 3 games.
Keep an eye on him, it looks like he's coming back for at least a season or two.

He won't be in the NHL. He had to be signed by Oct 1 to get here for this season. So he is done for NHL this season from what I understand.

I do not believe this is true. At least the last two sentences, unless it is a restriction due to his MODO contract and international transfer restrictions.
http://predators.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=439739
Edit: The only limit I found in the CBA refers to RFAs:
SIGNING DEADLINE
What is the latest date players can sign contracts?
Under the expired CBA, there was no signing deadline applicable to player contracts. Under the new CBA, Restricted Free Agents who do not sign contracts by December 1 of a given year will be ineligible to play in the League for the balance of that season.

Yeah this is incorrect. Forsberg has until December to be signed to an NHL contract. But if he signed a European contract then he can't play this year. His current contract with MODO was a tryout for this specific reason. However his injury probably renders this all moot.
I miss him, he's one of my favorites. Stupid injuries.

Yeah the deadline is December 1st. His MODO contract was only for a week to see what he can do with his condition. As for his injury preventing him from coming back, that's up to debate for now. His latest operation may have bought him a small amount of time back in hockey, but I think we can all say even if he does come back he won't be the same Forsberg. And the come back won't last too long.
Forsberg himself, though, has full intention to make a return in the NHL.

Justt for the love of god, don't leave him as a free agent. The last thing we need is whatever team just signing him.

If he has signed a contract when I release the DB, Ill move him to that team. If he doesnt sign by then, I'll keep him retired.

Lidas, anything I can do to speed up the process just PM me. If it has to do with the Islanders then great, but if not I'll still try to help.

I'm glad to hear that! I hate to see such a big game changer sitting out there available.

Yeah that's a good move. If he actually manages to comeback then deal with him then.

Even if he does come back after the release, it's not hard to bring back a retired player in the editor, so anyone can do that until the next update puts him back into the game.

just puting it out there, but im gonna list a couple players who really need to be changed for this update, in my opinion, there is a good amount tho, hopefully you guys will make these changes. i dont really know how to list all the programing stuff, im just gonna list what i think they should be in the game. also when i list what they should be rated, i dont mean like right away, cause like thornton is the only STAR at the beggining. im listing what they should all be at midway/the end of the first season
Ryan Kesler- only about a 3rd line center in lidas 1.3, should be a top line center, maybe even franchise center (im not bias, just been watching him play, and hes really showing flashes of brilliance), should be a SUPERB
Alex Burrows- 3rd liner to 2nd liner, should be a VERY GOOD
Vesa Toskala- currently franchise goalie, should actually be between a starter and a backup should be a VERY GOOD at best
Viktor Stahlberg, Mikhail Stefanovich, Tyler Bozak- Currently, these guys (besides stefanovich) are all not good enough to play for an nhl team in the lidas 1.3, they should all be prospects with 2nd line potential, all should maybe start as GOOD, but develop into a V.GOOD-SUPERB
Bryan McCabe- good, but shouldnt be a franchise defensemen, same thing with scott hannan, both should be between a V.GOOD/SUPERB
Patrick Kane and Jonathon Toews- should have better atributes, both should end up STAR/SUPERB
Zach Parise- currently in lidas 1.3 either a high end 2nd liner or a low end 1st liner. should be a franchise player, and deffinetly be a STAR
Jeff Carter and Mike Richards- same as Parise, should be both STAR, at the very lowest switch between STAR/SUPERB
Pascale Leclaire- currently a terrible starter, ok backup, should be a decent starter, should be a SUPERB
Niklas Hagman- currently a 3rd line cheking forward, should be a 2nd liner with a better shot, should be a SUPERB
matt stajan and mikhail grabovski- both are currently 3rd line centers, should be 2nd liners, should both develop into SUPERB
David Krejci- currently between a 4th liner and 3rd liner, should be a 1st liner, should 100% develop into atleast a SUPERB
Marc Savard- currently a SUPERB first liner, should be a STAR franchise player
Ryan Getzlaf- currently a SUPERB, should be a STAR
Rene Bourque- currently a 3rd liner, should be a 2nd-1st line SUPERB
Sedin twins-both are SUPERBS, should be STARS
Brad Richards, Scott Gomez, Jason Spezza- all are STARS, should be SUPERBS
Pekka Rinne- currently not good enough for the nhl and is an OK, by the way he played last year
(7 shutouts 2.38GAA .917SV%), should be atleast a high end SUPERB
Jonas Hiller- currently a decent backup, should be a higher end starter and a middle level SUPERB
Jon Quick- currently not good enough for NHL, should be a mid level starter and a V.GOOD/SUPERB
Nicklas Backstrom(on washington) and Alex Semin- both V.GOOD second liners, should be STAR/SUPERB players
Antero Niittymäki-currently a higher end starter, should be a pretty good backup and a V.GOOD
Tim Thomas- currently a decent starter, should be a franchise goalie and a STAR
Devin Setoguchi and Joe Pavelski- currently both AHLers, no really good nhl potential, should both have SUPERB potential
Duncan Keith, Cam Barker- both should have higher end SUPERB potential
Dustin Byfuglien- currently a 4th line agitator, should be a second liner and a V.GOOD
T.J. Oshie, David Perron- both should have second line SUPERB potential
Luke Schenn- should have STAR potential (have you seen him play?! hes rediculously good for being only 19)
Milan Lucic- currently a 3rd liner at best, should be a SUPERB first line power forward, kinda like how brendan morrow currently is in lidas 1.3
last thing, ive noticed that Taylor Hall has good potential, but i think that he should have as high potential as Tavares
i guess thats all i can think of right now, i no its a lot, hopefully you can make these changes

Thats alot of superbs which most likely will shift the balance pretty weirdly since regens copy these guys.
And sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think Kesler is a franchise forward. A good 1st liner maybe, EASILY a very good 2nd liner, but franchise, no...

Kesler is not a franchise forward
I wish though
Lots of those young players you listed will become unreal in a few years (Kane, Toews, Richards)

I disagree with this a lot:
Ryan Kesler - is a 2nd liner to occasionally a 1st liner, not a franchise player.
Parise - Correct, Parise's stats definitely need a boost. He's a decent player in the last update.
Leclaire - No way should Leclaire be superb. He's an okay goalie, but he really doesn't meet "top goalie" stature.
Sedin Twins - Should not be stars, very good players but not top players.
Gomez - Correct, Gomez' stats are a little high. I've had him score like 45 goals and Gomez is a 20-25 goal scorer on good seasons.
Semin - Not a star player, superb maybe. Definitely has shown his scoring ability
Backstrom - Not a star player, maybe one day but the kid is still like 21.
Pavelski - Superb potential, I think not. He's already 25, he won't get much better than he is now. he's about a 20-25 goal scorer, 40-60 points.
Luke Schenn - Despite putting the puck in his own net last night against the Rangers, he shows a lot of promise and probably does deserve high potential.
Lucic - Lucic is only 21 and he's not as good as Brendan Morrow, he's got okay potential but I pin him as a 2nd line, never a 1st line.
Other Notes: Michael Del Zotto has been showing to have excelled his skills quite a lot already. He's already playing every game for the Rangers, and doing very well for it. He still makes some basic NHL entry mistakes (he is only 19), but he already has good ability and high potential.

This is why there is a formula for the editing of players in the Lidas DB. Everyone has a different opinion on where guys are right now, and where they will be. So we use math and science to aid us in the correct direction. And EXPERT opinions.

Zbynek Michalek on the Phoenix Coyotes needs some significant tweaking. He is an assistant captain and led the league in blocked shots last year as a defensive defenseman.
I'd volunteer to research the Coyotes but I don't have a lot of time to figure out the spreadsheet. If anyone wants to do the spreadsheet work I can give you a scouting report on the Coyotes' players and some of their prospects.

I believe the formula is used in the worksheet that is posted somewhere here. It was done up originally by Shadd and has some tweaks since he did it. We are all going to find players that we are not necessarily happy with in the db. However, I think if all of our personal preferences for players were put in on an individual basis the db would be HORRIBLY unrealistic. In some cases for example...Johan Gustafsson would win the Vezina, Crosby (since he is the focal point of much hatred in some cases and love in others) would win NOTHING, Kopitar would be the best player in the league. Dion Phaneuf would never make a mistake, and conversely Mason Raymond would score 100 points just because he is fast.
So...to sum up...we are not NHL scouts, nor is virtually anyone on this site or anyone handling any of these rosters a hockey expert, even though sometimes we like to think we are. Therefore....the math formula is the best we are going to get. As I said...have a look around and I bet you find something about it in this forum. I cnanot recall exactly where, but someone will.
