I would assume to put them on the LTIR and have some cap relief if necessary.

no, basically so i could play through a bunch of "What if" scenarios. ...or just to add some challenge, say i force an injury to my number 1 goalie and make him out for 7 months with a torn ACL.

Or draft a franchise player and only to have him get injured over and over again (forced of course by me :) )

I'd like to think of it as my game world where i can do what i want....having that power to force an injury in ootp just added some depth to that i thought - this is one of those thing in ootp that you can only do in their commish mode.

Well you could do that directly from the database. Don't want that in-game for now at least.

Hi!
I have a suggestion, which might or might not have been made to day :

- Implement scenarios.

Those scenarios could be varied, but would have to "be rooted in what the NHL will be at the time of the release -- or at least, at the start of that season". Here's a few examples

+ The Montreal Canadiens are without their best D-Men and best player, Andrei Markov, for a few months to begin the year. Your goal is to make the playoffs, and you don't have much capspace to work with.

+ The Atlanta Trashers must work with a tight internal budget. They have lots of young regulars who could continue to improve (Bryan Little, Evander Kane, Ondrej Pavelec) and some youngsters who could claim a spot in the starting lineup (Cormier, Burmistov, Kulda, amongst others), and a very decent top-4 on D. Veterans would help'em, but money is hard to come by. You must make the playoffs twice in the next four years.

+ The Boston Bruins are stuck with an interesting problem : they have lots of good-to-great centers (at least, if they keep Savard), but they badly need help on the wings, and their defence is nothing to write home about. They rely on the young (and impressive, to date) Tuuka Rask, and have expansive Tim Thomas as a backup. Is Rask proven enough to ship Thomas, regardless of the return? You have 4 years to win the Cup.

The game wouldn't end after that scenario : instead, it would give lots of "points" to your GM reputation. The aims might be a little different, though...

For example

+ The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect bank is ridiculously thin. They have the very young Luke Schenn on defence, but other than than, nobody projects as a safe Top-6 F or Top-4 guy, nor do they have a starting goalie in the making, aside from Gustavson, which isn't sure at this point. And they'll be another year without a first pick. Your goal is to have 3 guys in the Top-50 prospects of the league (let's say, U-21 for the sake of the argument) in the next four years, while making the playoffs at least twice in that span.

I have just noticed this! It's amazing what you are doing, I'll stick around and propose some ideas of mine 8-)

I'm not sure how feasible this would be, but would it be possible to incorporate fan cultures into the game dynamics? For example, Habs fans are enamoured with French Canadians who play well (and run those who don't produce out of town...), Leaf fans like their grinders vs the pure skill guys, Bruins' fans like anyone who bears a passing resemblance to Cam Neely, etc.

This would also affect things like merch sales, ticket sales, etc.

Well maybe one could just put a "preferred player type" in the DB and set one of the ones suggested earlier

That's actually a nice feature, I agree Alessandro it seems easily doable. I'm just not sure there actually are too many fanbases that have such specific preferences.

Well yes, I think that most of fanbase just like top scorers no matter their style, especially in Europe

Indeed, aswell as goalkeepers.

they need to be a team player though.

I know that myself (being a leaf fan) have always like hard-nosed team players like Gary Roberts, Darcy Tucker....even wade belak... tie domi was entertaining lol
So the fact that us leaf fans may like these types of player more may be true, but that is only because we have never had a superstar on our team! lol.

Kessel is a top scorer on the leafs and he is hardly a team favourite...he just isn't the team player we respect, yet.

I am sorry in advance if this has been mentioned already.

I was wondering if simple html files can be generated by the sim, with an export option similar to FHL-

The reason I ask, is because that if you did add that, it would change online hockey sims forever.

:)

false 8-)

Canadians overall (minus montreal fans) perfer the tougher player over the finesse player (Calgary/Toronto more then anyone), but mostly only if the finesse player plays soft.

and i know flyers fans like em tough

that's because, like i said above, the Leafs have never had a true great goalscorer. Mats Sundin was closest and he was a favourite to many.

I agree. Probably the biggest divide between North American hockey and European hockey, is that North America favors the physical play, while Europe, Russia especially, is more about skill. Look no further than the day the Flyers welcomed the Red Army to Philadelphia. ;)

This seems to fit nowhere but here.

What is the correct term for playing 3 on 3 or 4 on 4? It is even strength but it must be called something special.

I always just hear it referred to as 3 on 3 or 4 on 4. I never hear it called by a special name. Of course, you've got 4 on 4 in the OT and you've got 4 on 4 (or 3 on 3) due to matching minor penalties.

Ok, then we will go with even strength, powerplay, shorthanded for describing which situation a goal was scored in.

The most important feature you can include:

Autosave every day!!!

It's really quite frustrating when EHM crashes six days after last save when you've won three games and done lots of good deals... And then you lose everything. ](*,)

I am not so sure, I already don't like waiting 5-10 seconds between days, wouldn't want to wait any longer personnally. Depends on how fast the save is and how fast the game sims, IMO.

Of course it could be optional. Football Manager has done this pretty good. You can choose autosave every day/week/2 weeks/ month/three months or something like that.

Anyway, the data loading and background match simulating must be effective and as quick as possible.
It's a project that we use stopwatch to see which kind of coding and database is more quick,as CM/FM always lets us wait
I have seen Tapani(CM code expert) saying, the CM series owns mix usage of C an C++ .Daniel you can see my mail
Also,if possible,IPAD version is also expected
